Good rundown. Most videos I've found are from junior enlisted perspective, nice to see how seniors are living.
Like the tour! Thanks.
Outstanding! Keep up the great work.
Thank you! 🇺🇸
Thanks for the video tour! I am clearing quarantine in a few days and will be placed in SLQ. Definitely helpful!!!
Heck yes. Thanks for the feedback.
Such a helpful video, thanks for the insight!
Thanks! Glad it helped you
This is 1000000% the video I was trying to find. Thank you for making this and maybe see you in July!
Wooo! You made my day. That is the very reason I made these videos. Thanks loads for sharing your comment.
@@erinmcshane4859 what's the current gym situation??
Gyms are fully open
Thank you for making this video!!
You’re very welcome. This is where it all started. This video I’d wanted before Korea.
That´s my Erin! keep up the good work!
Thank you 😊
Loved seeing your face
Steph!
Excellent. I was thinking about doing an unaccompanied/accompanied tour next summer. 🇺🇸
Ray! Thanks for saying hi. I'm happy to share lessons learned.
Thanks for the tour of the Senior Leaders Quarters. I will be living there in July.
Nice. Have a safe trip over here!
Erin McShane why do you recommend a SFAS as phone service or puck?
I am not familiar with those. I also went looking for puck and SFAS Korean phone services on Google and nothing came up.
@Erin McShane do you have any videos of the family housing (duplexes) over on the Commissary side??? Love your videos - they are very helpful to me and my kiddos as we are about to head that way this summer!!
@Rk conn , I am delighted to hear they’ve been helpful for you and the little ones! I don’t have a video... yet. I’ll see if I can snag one :)
@@erinmcshane4859 That is great! I think the neighborhood is Red Cloud or something! Would love to follow your travels on IG or FB. Do you have public pages?
This I s as nice as my apartment b4 I join the millitary but unfortunately I'm nowhere near a E7 but the current room i hav is nice so I'm still satisfied.
That sounds good
Great video, I love there this year and this really helped me out. Is the commissary and Px walking distance too?
Yes, as long as you are not an aviator, PX and commissary are walking distance. A bit of a longer walking distance, depending on your specific SLQ. Be prepared for about .5 to 1 mile walks.
Ty
best part is in unit washer/dryer
Game changer.
How long did it take for your good to arrive? I was thinking of mailing some items over (computer monitor) so that I could get it there fairly quickly (and maybe avoid some of the mover-damage).
It is usually scheduled to take 2 months. With COVID, I believe it takes HHG more like 3 months.
What building number are those SLQs? Housing office set me up with Bldg 6023 via "virtual in-processing."
That's was extremely helpful thank you! Do you have a rough dimensions of the living room & bedroom?
You're welcome!
Living Room
17'x13'
Bedroom
12.5'x12'
Kitchen
11.5'x8'
Bathroom
12'x3.5' plus sink area and tub
Entryway
7.5'x5.5'
@@erinmcshane4859 thank you so much!
Do you have to identify the furniture that you don't want to keep on the day you move in? Or can you decide a few days/weeks later?
You can decide days/weeks/months later. The day I moved in, there was no bed, so I asked for a same day delivery. Much later, I asked for furniture to be removed as part of my one-time authorized furniture removal.
I chose not to bring my dresser because there was one already here. Looking back, I would have liked to have had mine (drawers don't stick and it looks nicer). It would not have put me over the weight allowance.
What are the options for internet/cable tv providers in the Sr Ldrs Qtrs?
LG U+ provides internet and cable. SK Telecom may be another option. Google Fi provides international cell and data service across 180+ countries.
Do you happen to have the measurements for the windows? I was considering so blackout drapes and wanted to see what size a would need... (understanding from your other video that the command hooks would be the best way to hang a rod, etc.)
Yes! Here's the measurements I used when installing my curtains:
Floor to Ceiling: 106.5"
Floor to top of Window Box: 91.8"
Width of Window Box: 68.7"
Ikea Curtains: 98", 98.5", 118"
@@erinmcshane4859 Thanks a bunch. I'm thinking of going with a 54 or 60 inch curtains, which according to my back woods math should be long enough. ;-)
I don't remember the size, but I do remember getting blackout 'curtains' from the PX. It turned out to be just one panel. I turned the thing sideways and used command hooks to attach it. That was when I learned that blackout curtains were a game-changer.
@@erinmcshane4859 Those and a good noise cancelling headset are essential items in my mind. Price is irrelevant. :-)
@@erinmcshane4859 Following up to this message! I was assigned an east facing room and with the security/parking lot lights never allowing it to get really dark in the evenings and the rising sun blasting through the thin blinds, the blackout curtains have made all of the difference! Thanks again for the suggestion and tips on how to hang them.
Thanks a lot for the video! I'm considering what to ship over right now... is it useful to ship a bike, or is it even worth it since the public transportation seems to be pretty good?
Definitely ship a bike! So worth it, if you like to bike. On post, the busses are good, but they still only come by every 15 minutes and stick to their defined routes. Humphreys is not a walking post, but it is definitely a 'bicycling' post, you can get everywhere by bike or motorcycle.
@@erinmcshane4859 Thanks! I'll plan to add that to my list.
What size are the beds? Can I bring a mattress and have them take only the mattress away?
Full size bed, saying that with 80% confidence. Yes, they can take just the mattress away. Smart thinking.
Cool. Can you let me know what's the name of the gym over there?
Sitman Gym. The best gym is Turner Gym, though: czcams.com/video/GmmYlDHYYn4/video.html
I’m going to camp carrol korea in September. Is the housing there the same as there in camp Humphrey
I have never been there. I believe the on-post accommodations are older.
Did you bring your own dresser? Or couch? Or did you ship anything?
Brought my own bed, loveseat, armchair, I brought almost all of my household goods, actually, just downsized before I left. Sold my entertainment unit, dining table, etc.
Here’s a video that shows my apartment with the things I brought to Korea with me: czcams.com/video/fa7m3Cg4M8Q/video.html
If coming unaccompanied is there an option to live here or off post?
Depends on the occupancy rate (OR) or how full the on post housing is. The housing office controls that number and tells you whether or not you're approved to live off post. 95% or higher and you're given the option to live off post. If you get here before the wave of post-stop/move PCSers, you'll likely be forced to live on post. If after, you may have a better chance.
if you have a friend here who offers you a place to live for a while, you can wait out the OR rate.
Nice. I'm working on a video for phone plans and general things to know about Humphreys before arriving. Let me know if you have other video suggestions that may be helpful for you and others.
Do you know if pets are allowed while living in SLQ?
They are not.
Can you let me know of the internet services for the Senior Quarters?
Internet speeds are better in Korea. You can get a phone plan and use tethering for Netflix, browsing, etc on multiple browsers without buffering time. Have not tested gaming over a tethered connection.
Using the phone instead of getting wifi drops your bill significantly. Getting wifi can cost $100/month plus the initial setup fees.
How long did it take for you to get wifi installed?
I never installed WiFi. For those who did, it doesn’t take long, so long as you’re ok with the price. You can get it with your Korean cell phone company.
Do any of the Love Seats fold out into a bed??
Nope, nada
What size is the bed they provide?
Found some information that said it is a Full size bed.
Confirmed. Full size.
