This movie is genuinely amazing. Not only is it the best comedy in years, it also really feels like those amazing 80s and 90s buddy comedies with its style and its general vibe. We just don't get that so often these days so I'm really greatful that this exists.
@@mikekrem3715 of course. But just because he wrote them, doesn't mean he necessarily can recreate this feeling. I mean look at the newer movies from Brian De Palma or Oliver Stone. But fortunately he can and I'm more than grateful for that.
Ryan's Character knowing enough to use a towel when punching through glass, but also using it in the exact wrong way (like they were brass knuckles) is fucking hilarious. died laughing.
That "fuck!!" From Crowe when Ryan threw the gun out the window kills me. He doesn't even seem mad at him, he seems mad at himself for thinking he wouldn't find a way to fuck that up.
@@2KOOLURATOOLGaming Yeah it's a reference to earlier when a Healy tells a story of Nixon and his Secret Service being first on the scene at a car crash, and Nixon tells an injured man he'll be all right just before the man dies. The idea being that from the man's point of view, it would seem the last thing you seebefore death is Nixon (like a grim reaper/angel). Then later March falls off a high rise building into a pool, hallucinating Nixon in the water which freaks him out thinking he was near death.
God this needs a sequel so bad, Russel and Ryan have some of the most incredible chemistry I’ve ever seen. This is one of the funniest movies to have come out in a long time
Fun fact, Ryan gosling being scared when he finds the dead body is actually a routine of Lou Costello, a comedian from the 40s who did this bit a lot whenever his character was supposed to be scared in a movie.
I saw this movie in 2018 and loved it, one of the wittiest comedies ever made.. When Ryan was announced as Ken, I knew back then it was perfect casting. It needs a sequel or a TV Show adaptation at least.
It honestly saddens me that people hate on Shane Black so much after The Predator, like this movie is his magnum opus and he should be respected as a director instead of hated for having to direct a studio meddled mess of a movie
I wonder why this movie wasn’t received better!! every time I see someone talking about it from the last couple of years it’s always positive. it’s so hilarious, it’s fun, the characters have such great depth without beating you over the head with details about them, it’s just so well done. I know it’ll go down as a cult classic but I wish it had been an instant hit so that we could have gotten a sequel! also, Angourie Rice?? such a genius for how young she was. really wish we could see more of her as Holly!!! we need a second movie set in the 80s :’(
I could used to this being a series of movies. Every movie being a different case. All of them with assorted 70s goodness segueing into early 80s goodness. All three main characters have such great screen chemistry.
I NEED this movie to have a sequel, Gosling and Crowe have such a good dynamic, I want them back, man 😭😭 (also I think it's really funny how both their last names are birds lol ((speaking of which--is that a goose or a duck on Ryan's cast? Was never able to tell)))

Ah a blessing to see the 7:46 minutes version of the Nice Guys when you don't have the time for the whole experience. Thanks! I think the only film comparable that I've seen is Kiss Kiss Bang Bang. Does anyone know similar films? Also, how can you not show Ryan's face at the end of the "You know who else was only following orders? Hitler!"-bit??
I was so surprised when i watched this movie just how good it is. It's humour hits that perfect spot, well written and an engaging plot. It ticks all the boxes really
Not gonna lie, I've watched it two times and only understood the crime solution in the second time. Now that I'm writing it, I realize that maybe I haven't understood it completely
I am glad this movie is getting the recognition it deserves , my friend recommended it to me and i watched it expecting absolutely nothing but boy was it entertaining. The scrit was good , the comedy was top notch and the acting particularly ryan gosling , he was effortlessly witty . I know ryan was good in comedy when i crazy stupid love but he was amazing in nice guys and pairing with russell crowe was so unexpected.
This move was actually so entertaining to watch, very underrated and needs a worth sequel , if they wanna take time with is or dont wanna ruin, i can live with that.
You missed one of the best moments at the end when Ryan says "Well, at least you're drinking again." and Crowe goes "Yeah.. feels great." That is such funny delivery, I was giggling like a school girl.
The whole movie made me need to rehydrate heavily. But its the little things, sometimes there's nothing bigger- when he just completely randomly and violently starts swatting that wasp at the very end of the film. Just so needless and the kind dumb funny thing that would happen to his character
The bee swat is set up throughout the film I think three times. I missed most of them the first time but besides the scene in the car there's some radio broadcasts about the 70s californian africanized bee scare. It's something that's in the back of March's brain the whole movie, and the swatting scene is the only payoff it gets. It's amazing
As you can imagine, the muted part is because "Rock and Roll All Nite" by Kiss appears wildly copyrigthing everything... smh 😒
Oo but nobody’s gonna notice you left in Clarence “frogman” Clemens?
Fuck, I love the jAnEt part
KISS suck
3:12 HONESTLY this is some of the best acting i have ever seen, all while being ridiculously hilarious as well 🤣

You are correct. After finding out his brilliant comedic timing in barbie i watched this last night and it was really funny.
He’s Canadian.

I’ve never felt so represented by a character in my life

I'd never seen Russell Crowe be comedic but he's really damn good at it lol.
russell crowe's "what" during the "i'm fucking your dad" bit is something ive never heard him do before and its the BEST
i also love that he pours out the cup on her after the spit take
@robbobb4050 it kind of feels like an impulse to me, like "Oh the spit take was kind of weak, guess I'll pour the glass instead"

Gosling’s physical comedy is so genuine and hilarious
His face when the girl falls on the car always cracks me up. Like he genuinely shits himself, sort of.
Him punching the window never gets old. I can't get over how bad of a plan it was
The ammount of people that just now realized that Ryan Gosling is funny makes me sad because it means they haven't seen The Nice Guys (2016)

Classic Laurel and Hardy kind of comedy at its best in this movie. These two are great together.
