Because it’s way harder to try and copy someone else and remember everything they did, that’s why people play the main licks and shit and just improv the rest
What i like about Joe is that he sounds like himself even when playing VH. Eddie used to say the same thing. Lol he said that no matter what cover song he played, it still sounded like VH. 😊
One of my favorite Hager-era VH songs, so seeing this live last night was great. And for those saying it's lower key, watch/listen to VH play this song live during the "Balance" tour in 1995. They played it lower way back then too.
I seriously wondered what it would be like to have Joe Play Van Halen stuff ever since I knew him and Sammy were friends. SO here we finally are. sounds great! Rip King Edward

Joe's not copying Eddie. He's taking this on like a studio musician honouring the original recording. Still has his own flare. Respect!

"Eddy did it differently" yeah, great insight Sherlock. It's a tribute, not a copy and Satch is the best axman for the job.
What a pleasure seeing a true guitar master at work.
Joe said it himself, Eddie had a right hand of doom. Joe is doing the best he can and it aint bad.

Joe Satriani and Michael Anthony worth everything this is beautiful
Joe = guitar god !
Joe definitely sounds good. The whole band sounds good
They sound amazing. Anybody who is giving Sammy crap. Let's see how you do in your mid 70's. They were fantastic!
Get it Joe🎸!!!!!!!!!!
Haters be silent .
This is Killer , bar none .
No other act on the circuit even comes close.
Cope.

I was wondering the same thing as well. So being there for this was a dream come true.
Nobody really understands what an outrageously good rythum player Joe is.....the man is tight AF!
Agreed. Joe is the right person for the job!!
@jakenielsen88 His Squares album rythum playing was already world class at that point.
Satch is on a different level as a player. Ed Heads will never understand that.
Wow! They are bringing it, sounds good to me, lower key dosent hurt, especially at sammys age 🤘
I love Joe s playing!! Like he did with Deep purple,he makes the songs of his own❤
ESTO ES INCREIBLE !!!!!!! SIN PALABRAS !!!!!
So emotional! So precise! They captured the feeling of the song perfectly! I love it! Thanks for posting!
Sounds amazing!
Love it!! Please bring this tour to Europe as well 🙏
It’s not easy singing at 76 but it’s great to hear the songs again live even if they sound a little different .
Sammy looking for Michael constantly for supporting the high notes 😄. Bravo Michael!!!
Anthony 👑
This is so good...
Seeing them at pine knob in Michigan Aug 2
Thanks for posting... How I wish they bring this to England... Love Joe(Eddie)
AND Down Under!
Joe's got it and he'll get even better
Thanks for sharing the vids Stephen! Great job filming what was important in each tune.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Joe is fricking killing it !,,
Satch guitar tech is going to be working OT on the tour to keep those guitars in shape
Joe also uses a wireless system for his guitar 👍😁
Joe friggin owned this song I think he did it better than Ed sober 😅
I always loved Sammy's music to death, saw him in Florida a few times.......but Im sad to say that his always awsome high pitch sound is shot.......
I see red, and when I say red I mean the guitar!
JESUS CHRIST MICHEAL ANTHONY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The song I was most looking forward to hearing, but I'm a little disappointed to see that they play it slower
played slower and on a lower key but still rocking .... 💪 satriani above all
laugh out loud funny
Sounds like a different song at this lower key
It pretty much is at this tempo.
Don’t mind the lower key (Sammy’s almost 80! and it sounds heavy af), but the tempo needs to increase a bit for sure.
Half low key
JS: Up down stroke
EVH: Down Stroke
Don't exaggerate. It sounds a bit different. Lower keys are the norm for someone singing at age 76
im going August 3rd ! by the way what row did you have ?
Awesome! I was on the 6th row.
@@stephendeleon594 what was the price ?
Somebody call Pete Thorn or Jacob Deraps
A bit slow, but anyway
Hahahahaha
So slow

The lower key doesn't help either.

Another moronic armchair critic
Better than you and your family..
Not impressed...feels beyond dated and predictable.
