A D12 collaboration on The Marshall Mathers LP. It describes the classic antics of the Dirty Dozen and foreshadows the sound of 2001 album Devils Night.
This track ironically follows “Kim,” possibly the most disturbing and graphic song of Eminem’s career. In comparison to the emotionally draining and heavy subject matter found in “Kim,” “Under the Influence” is light-hearted and relatively substance-less. However, the song serves the purpose of responding to critics of the harshness of “Kim”:

It's called Under the Influence so every word that they're saying is got to do with being under the influence of something. You got to get the song before you pass judgment cuz a lot of it flew right over your head.
