I remember this happening several times on TV when I was a kid. Took years to learn it was due to an Amiga failing. Interesting that TV stations used them!
Worker: "Sir! There's an error!" Technician: "Just left click!!!" Worker: "We don't have a mouse hooked up." Technician: "That's it; we're screwed..." Worker: "And just so you know, the C-band listing isn't working." [Technician's head explodes]
Hmm. I wonder if UVSG screwed up their "main" Amiga's serial number that day and caused it to show Tulsa listings over the C-band instead of the generic ones.
This was the default if a connection could be made... Most crashes on youtube had no connection so hence the rolling clock time with only the prevue logo on top... While the software program was indeed run by an Amiga, the default programming stream had to be something, so prevue went with their home market... Also nice to see the dual box motif Prevue ran on, giving operators the choice of two (with separate audio tracks) with normally a blue box with text to announce the channel/program/time/cost (if PPV) covering the other video. Here since Guru was happening the Amiga was powerless to do so, but the audio track had been stuck in it's last spot, in this case left channel hence during Prevue Tonight you're getting the audio from the left video boxes.
I like how elegantly the Amiga handling the video errored out. On a Windows box, it would probably be a static and silent BSOD or a big opaque dialog box blocking everything behind it.
Well, I don't miss all those ads we used to see for Psychics. Actually, I wanted to try one once, a free hour, just for fun, never got the chance. It must have hit a wall or something, cause we never see ads for them anymore on tv.
The #Amiga Computer powered Prevue Guide - That Guru Meditation is from an Amiga Computer when it crashes - Interesting to know they used the Amiga Computer They also used to use the BBC Micro at Train Stations in the UK to display Train Times as well
@clonehappy if you find any recordings of prevue guide before August of 90 can you post it here? That's just before I lost prevue guide when I moved to a cable-less town
