Make friends with someone who owns a JCB who can cut you a driveway that delivery trucks will drive on. This will be important later when you start ordering reno materials. Make it a circular drive so no one has to back out again. Just a suggestion.😁
Cheers ❤️
The chores and lifestyle that give one authentic joy and enjoyment do not need public scrutiny or bot approval.
Congratulations 🎊
You need guttering to catch the water from the roof and then that will help with your drainage issues and provides free water if you install a water tank
18 years on were still here kids are grown up now with there own buisnesses , its hard work we bought a barn for 45000 now its a 6 bed house with jacuzi swimming pool workshops all we need , but the labour was intense , weve seen 65 % fail and go back , women miss friends and family , husband has to work 15 hours a day renovating , the worst is the budget folk spend their money on the house without finding work , they spend money on the house to keep the wife an kids comfortable run out of money cant get a job because they dont speak the lingo , get work on the cheap from established expats for a pittance go broke wife leaves with kids back to mum an dads husband is left in france to sell house , it cost 60 k to buy spent 80 k on renovation , gets valued at 75 k and thats france , and thats the truth
Welcome to the typical "temps de Toussaint" 😅
And most important : congratulations ;)
Ah yes! Thank you from a very soggy Normandy!
I bough my place 4 years ago not far from you also in Normandy .As for the weather , you need get used to it lol
Bon chance
Cheers. Not too bothered about the weather. Just a little bummed that it was beautiful sunny days for almost 50 days previous to the date of the sale!
dont you find the rain too much - bit depressing?
Mike here from Chateau Sallandrouze in tge Creuse. I just found your channel. Looking forward to binge watch. Welcome to France.
Thanks Mike.
A full tour of the whole thing would be great plus a birds eye view drawing plan of the whole place cheers
It’s a good thing you have rock on the farm to fill in the muddy areas.
Very true!!
I’m sure you will be thrilled to get your household tools, gardening tools as soon as possible!
12:00 -- An old farm in Normandy in need of a French drain.....how befitting
Yahoo the farm is yours!!
❤🙏
Amazing roof rafters and stone masonry, a lot of energy and imagination needed. A lifetime vision. Spring here in New Zealand and wet also.
There are some gems hidden in there for sure! We’ll do our best to bring them back to full glory!!❤🙏
I’m a bit confused that you put the dry hay bales out in the rain…
Alabama will gladly receive any of that rain you can direct in our direction. :) We are in a drought situation.
Great admiration as you peruse this endeavor.
Will GLADLY send you some rain!!!! ❤🙏
House will be amazing when done, looking forward to seeing how you both get on
❤🙏
A big project, but will be beautiful, in beautiful Normandy, look forward to watching your progress, Good luck!
❤️Thank you
oh what an adventure!& a hella lot of work! best of luck to you.
Thank you Suzanna. We're already knackered!😬
We have a property in Brittany, we bought it ten years ago and have been improving it ever since all I can say is good luck, I will be following your journey with interest, our house just needed TLC, you certainly do have a bit of a dump on your hands but with hard work, determination you will make it your own.
✨❤️✨
With that optimism, you are off to a good start. Good luck, will be following your progress with interest.
Thank you!
Just think how lovely it will be oneday hey😊
Exciting project guys.
Exciting. To be honest the hay would be great as mulch as it breaks down but will end up being muddy slush if used as paths whereas that gravel would be perfect and long lasting. Of course it is up to you. Lucky you to have old manure already as well. Your garden will be off to a great start. Best wishes from Australia.
Great point! Thanks for sharing! So much to learn and do😅
how about a little background info. Who you are, where you are from, why you bought the farm, how big is the property etc. Just part of getting to know you.
Great idea!! Will do!!😊❤
First priority is a small digger, you will burn yourselves out long before you get any kind of drive put in, better still buy in a few lorry loads of castine, the driver will tip it out as he drives in, and it is so cheap.Good luck, we have been there done that, 15 years later we are just about done!
Just came across your channel, I love it and am binge watching. New subscriber.
Yay! Thanks for watching.
All that stable muck will be great down the line for gardens and the hay can weather and become mulch. I have done that with mine and it works well. Lots of work ahead but lots of fun too.
So many great resources here! We feel very blessed.
Watching from Australia 🇦🇺. Good luck with the new home 💐
Thanks so much! 😊
It looks like you have a lot of work ahead of you, have fun and good luck, hope weather improves
I think inclement weather at the front-end of a project is good. It reveals any weather driven issues (e.g. drainage, leaky roof, window and foundation issues) so you can address them (or at least factor them into your budget) before you make discretionary commitments to finishing materials. Looks like a lovely location. Best of luck to you!
Came across this quite by accident. Looking forward to watching it but having difficulty hearing it. I cannot get it any higher but do not know why this should be. Love these types of programmes. Thank you for the video.
Thanks for the info. Will have sound quality higher next video👍
We are so happy for you guys! Our fellow NorthCackalacky folks are finally in the new digs. No pun intended 😂. We will be watching closely friends. I suppose the cinder blocks are to close in the barn and convert to workshop? What about the floor? Concrete poured? Or crushed stone? Also, where are you sleeping, we assume at the same place? Maybe an RV until you get things livable? Take care and “crack on” John
Thanks John. We really appreciate your support.Yep blocks are for shop wall. Not sure on the floor yet as we are having trouble getting heavy deliveries up to the house. We're in a rental cottage at the moment, but hoping to get on site soon! ✨👍✨
It is lovely and you will make it into a jewel!
Thank you ❤️
Wow u have alot of work ahead of you, But nice to meet you ,hello from Ottawa Canada
Hello there!.....Thanks for watching❤️
Hi guys love your channel just subscribed cant wait so see your adventure 😊
❤🙏
looking forward to watching your progress
Thank you!
I enjoyed this video and appreciate the lifestyle adventure you are undertaking. Looking forward to watching more of your videos. May I suggest , you adjust the volume on the music you record, it isn’t background music . It actually drowns out your voice. Thanks, watching from the states with the dream of doing something similar. 🙏😊
Thanks so much!....... Sorry about the background music. It sounded good in editing, but I noticed it was too loud when I watched the video back! Will do better next video👍
Great too see😊😊😊
Thank you 😁
With all that hay, take a look at the Ruth Stout Method.
Just found your channel and watched them all back to back 😁 very excited for you and your renovation welcome to the club. Loved your travel vlogs too we are not far from you and have friends in Bias and Villechien and we highly recommend Le Patis in Landivy for an afternoon treat after a hard days work.
We hope the storm didn't cause you any problems 🤞
Thanks so much for watching! Bloke is weathering the storm and I had to head back to the US for a family event- haven’t heard from Bloke - I assume they all lost power😮 but are looking out for each other….😧😱
Lots of power lines and trees down slow fix
Well done.
Good luck to you!
❤🙏
Thank you very much!
You weren't lying it is a dump😂 you are lucky to have the tractor with the property, they normally disappear👍it will rain till march april😂😂
Noooo!!! Please don’t tell me that it rains that much😂😂🥲🥲😢😢😭😭😭
Hello from PEI Canada. I just found your channel and I shall follow you.
Welcome!🙏
U will need to put in a french drain around the house
You can sell the hay for sheep horse goat and cow feed but it needs to be dry
Well done
Looks like u need an excavator tractor. Like right away. 😮
That would be lovely, but unfortunately not in the budget at the moment.
@@mrbloke Even to rent a mini digger for a few days ?
Should have found a local farmer with livestock. You could trade them the old hay that he can use for bedding for some hours of tractor work to clean the manure out and move it to your garden plot. Early chance to barter with the locals…
Sadly was infiltrated with cow poo! Great for the compost.👍
Hi guys just found your channel as looking for our own dump somewhere!
Really interested to see how you achieve your dreams, love from a dreamer in the uk 😊
Hi there❤️Dream BIG!
@@mrbloke Hi which company /Agent did you use please
Hello, I see the house still has the "compteur bleu électrique". If i was you, I will keep it, not accept the "linky" one. A lot of troubles.
The electric is a soon to be dealt with issue- but that may be delayed due to the recent Tempest that has just blown through 😮
U got that tractor with a front loader , that will help heaps . But u may need to make a proper track at some stage . If u can lift that end of the roof of the shed with the tractor and fix it that tractor again will make digging that shed out easy .
Yep! We got lots to do!
Well, this a PROJECT! Yet full of potential. A great find….. what part of France? Normandy? Feels like north or north western area maybe. Anyway, good fortune for the’journey.’ Going to track the vids. Best regards, Phil - Suffolk U.K.
Thanks Phil...We're in Lower Normandy near St Hilaire du Harcouet
Interesting project you've got there and I'm keen to keep up with your progress.
However, your audio is very soft. Do invest in microphones, get closer to the camera or adjust the volume up when editing your video.
I forgot my volume was right up to hear your video and almost burst an ear drum when the next video came on. Cheers
Never have deliveries in wet conditions. It just ends up being more work for you and or tearing up your property
Agreed! We tried the neighbors driveway at first but the truck sank in the mud so he backed down and said he couldn’t go up our drive because the load was too heavy :/. Next time we will just delay the delivery for sure!!❤
Hi there, just caught you on Tracey and Budo’s channel. Good luck in your new adventure. I must admit there’s no way I’d have the courage to move to a country where I didn’t speak their language. I admire your adventurous nature. Watching From PA, USA.
Thank you❤️Welcome aboard!
I also saw you on Tracey & Budo's channel.
I wish you "Bonne Chance" with all your endeavours.
Greetings from Australia 🇦🇺
From Julie. 🏖
Thank you Julie❤️
I live in North Carolina too!
We lived in Wilmington NC - so many great people there - I do miss them! We also loved the mountains - so peaceful there! (Mrs. Bloke)
Never mind I wasn't JUST bullied I have lost my dad's £92500 estate - stuff happens and I've only had 22 jobs my family died so motivation is a bit of a problem too.
Maybe you could do roof tiles instead of slate….a lot cheaper. Is you place in Bretagne or Normandy ? That’s what the weather looks like !
We are in lower Normandy - Manche. We thought about the tiles and budget will definitely determine the choice- the original roof was slate… stay tuned to find out what happened to that roof ❤😅
Do you have somewhere your living at the end of the day, not in tbat building surely 😮
Yes we're renting a small cottage❤️
Im guessing the tractor that came with the property doesnt work.
Is there 1 good room you can live in while you remodel?
It doesn't look like a dump
😘😘😘😘😘😘😘😘😘
ln the meantime where does the money you will need come from
nice to by old propertyes, butt have the maskin and tools ready when start.just anoying to look at this.
is it rude to ask the cost of the house?😇
Didn't you get a tractor and a trailer with the farm? Why use the wheelbarrow to move rock for the drive?
It needs servicing and we need lessons once it's ready to go, but yes we need that tractor!!
Where are you staying during the renovation and how many acres?
We are renting a cottage close by until we can get a liveable space at the property. 5.68 acres
Where are you staying during the renovation and how many acres? Enjoyed from Texas!
We are renting a cottage close by until we can get a liveable space at the property. 5.68 acres. ❤️
How much did you purchase this place for ?😊
We paid 55k Euros for almost 6 acres
Who did you buy with what agent please
We found it on Pozzo - online :)
@@mrbloke That's great thanks
We have heard in France you have to pay a tax even if the property is empty a bit like the Uk Council Tax and that can be quite expensive but also you have to pay a Land Tax is this true thanks
