The Dark Side Of The Moon is literally the result of a bet. In 2020 Melissa Bonny did guest vocals for the (humorous) German medieval metal band Feuerschwanz (Fire Tail, pronounced foy-air-shvantz) on a cover song they recorded for the bonus disc of the limited deluxe edition of their album Das Elfte Gebot. The original version of said song, titled Ding (Thing), is from the German based multi national dancehall/ reggae/ hip-hop band Seeed and was a big hit in the German speaking areas in 2006. As Melissa is from the French speaking part of Switzerland, she didn't knew of Feuerschwanz or Ding when they reached out to her through Napalm Records but after a quick research she happily accepted.
After filming the video, Melissa placed a bet with Feuerschwanz' guitarist Hans Platz, if Ding or Marching on Versailles (at that point the latest release by Ad Infinitum) would reach the one million clicks on YT first. Hans won so he dared her to do the vocals on Jenny Of Oldstones, a song from the Game of Thrones series he wanted to record for his solo yt-channel (he did metal covers of instrumental music from the GoT series prior). He brought in Jenny Diehl, one of Feuerschwanz' dancers/ stage and video performers (under the stage name Mieze Myu) who was guest musician with her harp on a few of their songs and had featured on some of his solo stuff. Melissa brought her then boyfriend (now husband) Morten Løwe Sørensen (Amaranthe) for the drums. After consulting with Fuerschwanz' manager, they sent the demo to Napalm and the respons was basically "If you all would like to record an album like this, please sign the attached contract."
Their main, but not sole, focus is on covers of media related songs:
Jenny of Oldstones (GoT cover, end credits/ single version by British indie rock band Florence + the Machine)
May It Be (Lord of The Rings cover, original by Irish new age singer Enya) feat. Charlotte Wessels (former lead singer of the Dutch symphonic metal band Delain)
Double Trouble/ Lumos (Harry Potter cover) feat. Rusanda Panfili (classical violinist from the Hans Zimmer live show orchestra)
    The Gates of Time (original)
Legends Never Die (League of Legends cover, original by US pop rock band Against The Current)
New Horizons (original) feat. Fabienne Erni (female vocalist of the Swiss folk metal/ melodic death metal band Eluveitie [elf-eye-tea])
First Light (original) feat. Rusanda Panfili.
Melissa did another guest feature for Feuerschwanz in 2021 on their cover of Manowar's Warriors of the World United. Jenny and her Feuerschwanz combatant Mieze Musch-Musch appeared in the video for Seth by Ad Infinitum early in 2023. Ad Infinitum's bassist Korbinian Benedict supported The Dark Side of The Moon on their live shows and Feuerschwanz' violinist Johanna von der Vögelweide (real name Stephanie Pracht) joined them on stage for Double Trouble/ Lumos. Hans filled in on a few concerts for Ad infinitum when their guitarist Adrian Theßenvitz was absent out of private reasons.

That's such a fun story of how they got started. I'm really glad she lost that bet. I'll definitely check out more of their songs in the future.
