Thank you for this video! I have used Facebook as a "cloud" to save my photos and videos since I started on it. Their albums were perfect for what I needed. Now, with things the way they are on Facebook, I felt the need to get all my pictures onto my pc in case I have to leave that platform. I am sharing this video so that others can do the same.

Anyone else here bc you’re ready to permanently sign off fb? It should’ve never become political. I already deactivated over a year ago. Just didn’t find interest anymore. I hate that it did become political also! I really hope you're able to get in and get those photos and memories of your parents. I am so sorry you lost both of them. I lost my mom in 2006 and I thank God my dad is still here. I have sooo many memories of him and I on FB lives and such...even here on this CZcams channel. I would hate to lose all those memories. She has replied to some comments on the new design and still mentions an easy way to do it. It helped me anyway. I was worried I was going to have to download 400+ photos individually, but thanks to her advice, it can be done in a day tops. Facebook has to create a file for you, but they do the work. Seems a little intrusive to be honest but it's Facebook. It's the reason I'm using it less and less these days.

Also there is a better way to do this. 1. Go to facebook settings 2. Go to "Your Facebook Information" 3. Select "Download your Information" 4. Select whatever you want to download 5. Delete Facebook.
If it doesn't work just let me know. I do have an updated tutorial since FB changed their design and the way to do this. I'll send you that link if this way doesn't work.

So happy to hear that. So, when you say Timeline Photos, are you referring to photos other people have posted on your Timeline? The reason I ask, is because every photo you've personally uploaded will end up on your Timeline at some point. All those photos you can find on your Profile page, under your cover photo where it says Photos. All these photos will be downloaded when you walk though these steps in the video. However, if you've had family and friends share photos to your timeline, then you'll have to download those images one by one unfortunately. Hope that makes sense. Be Blessed, Audrey
I hear ya David. It wouldn't surprise me if they are working on something like that or have plans too. I think right now they are just trying to keep the site from crashing since it's the #2 downloaded app right behind Parler. Thank you, so so much! I had to go back to the old version, as the little cog isn't available (yet?) on the "new" format. I'm not going to be on FB, intentionally, and hope to be able to delete it soon, so I wanted my photos and videos.

How safe r these four choices, I found them when I wanted to fownliad albums. Fb has partnered with all four of them. Us there a way to do it without choosing one of the four?

Oh my gosh you just saved me a LOT of work. Because I trusted iCloud when I got a new phone in 2016, I lost a years worth of photos of my baby girl. So my resolution was to go to Facebook and at least save the highlights I posted on FB from that time frame. This is EXACTLY what I needed!!! 💕

Yes, you can download to a thumb drive. When it ask you where you want to download it just chose your thumb drive and it should download them there. I know it did for me. Be Blessed, Audrey

Ok- so after the photos are in my MacBook Pro - how can I get the dates of photos? Or the original upload date? Because the date is only the upload date transferred meaning current date. I have over 20k and between IG- FB and next is Google. Need to keep organized if possible.
I've had lots of request about keeping the dates intact and the only way I found to do that is by using their other platforms like Google Photos to download them there. It gets separated into the dates. From there you can then transfer them all to your computer if you wanted to. But this is the only way I have found to be able to file them with dates.

Hey there Victoria, Quick question, do you have the new Facebook design? The reason I ask is because this new design does not give you the option to download the album like it did before. :( Figures FB would change it up after I did this video. There is a way though that you can still download all the images. Try this: 1. Click on the down arrow at the top right of your account and choose Settings 2. From Settings Choose Your Facebook Information (over to the left of your screen) 3. Click on View next to the Download Your Information 4. Only select Photos and Videos 5. Click on Create File When it's created the file it will send you a notification. At that point Download your video and photos to a folder on your computer and you should have all your photos there. Hey Anita, Yes, you can, you'll just need to figure out how to unzip the file once it's been downloaded to your phone. Here are the instructions for downloading to iPhone: For iPhone: While on the FB app click on the 3 horizontal lines at the bottom right of the screen Scroll down to find Settings & Privacy and tap on it Click on Settings Scroll down and choose Download Your Information From there, it should look like what is on the video. Deselect everything then just Choose Photos and Videos. Scroll to the bottom and click create file. When it's done you click on download and then it will make you login using a browser. Try this for downloading from messenger on the FB messenger app. When you have the conversation opened click on the person's name/profile picture at the top left of page. This should open some options and one of those options should be View Photos & Videos. Tap on that, then tap on the photo you want to download. At the bottom left you should see text More. To One Drive no you're not able to but you can download to Koofr, Dropbox, Google Photos, and Backblaze B2. In order to download to any of these other platforms when under your settings > your facebook information > Transfer a copy of your photos or videos and then follow the prompts. This will also download them into folders with the dates whereas when you download to your computer you don't have that ability. Hope that helps
I hate to say it but you are probably on the New Design of Facebook where they no longer allow you to download a complete Album. You now have to download them individually. Or just download ALL your pictures and videos at once.
Yes, absolutely a thumb drive that can hold all of them. Not sure how big you'll need it but I'd get the one you think will hold all your images for sure. But you can definitely download them to an external hard drive/ thumb drive. Be Blessed, Audrey
I have been trying to find out WHY Facebook has to "prepare" photos to download. Do you know if it is because Facebook performs some kind of back-up archive for their own records (in case we then decide to delete our photos/albums) without our consent?
Andre, I know that whenever you're downloading large files it does take some time to prepare them all. But, if I'm not mistaken every photo you upload to FB is free gain for them. I believe it's under their Terms of service or Privacy policy. So, unfortunately every video and image that we upload it doesn't matter if we delete it or not. They have it in their databases if they really want them. Audrey

I know what you mean! It is very frustrating for sure. I'm going to give you some steps to take and let me know if this helps or not. Since Facebook is rolling out the new design little by little I'm hoping these steps work for both. 1. Click on the down arrow at the top right of your account and choose Settings 2. From Settings Choose Your Facebook Information (over to the left of your screen) 3. Click on View next to the Download Your Information 4. You should see Request Copy and Available Copies (there should be a number 1 beside Available Copies) Click on Available Copies 5. You should see the file you want to download in there. Hello, I downloaded an album with more than 10,000 photos, but they ended up out of order. I'd like to know if you have found a way to download the album and keep the photos in the same order, as they got uploaded. In my case, they are photos from a trip, and I would upload them daily. This used to work now it doesn't. I think FB is messing with me. They already warned me and said I posted something that violated the guidelines but would not say what it was! They said next violation and my account is gone! I have a MAC though. Does that change it?This used to work though!

Maggi, you don't see the Cog Wheel when you open an album? I went to another account plus I had someone else try it and we both got the cog wheel and had the option to download that album. That's so strange that you don't have the cog wheel. Does the album you are trying to download have more than one photo in it? Audrey
Social Media 4 Beginners no. I used to but not anymore. I figured it out though. I went to settings where you can download your FB history and got all my pics that way. Yeah, I used to have the cogwheel. I remember downloading albums before. But it seems to have disappeared on my account. LOL

Thank you for this! I did discover I could drag the notification up to the search engine bar and it would come up.
I grabbed a 1 TB flash drive for this and it was a simple process.
Sweet! I did the same thing. I downloaded 12 years worth of photos and videos to an external hard drive.

I shared it to fb bc I have had people telling me they were still on fb for the same reason but wanted to get out now for sure. Again, thank you for the video! So happy to hear that. So, when you say Timeline Photos, are you referring to photos other people have posted on your Timeline? The reason I ask, is because every photo you've personally uploaded will end up on your Timeline at some point. All those photos you can find on your Profile page, under your cover photo where it says Photos. All these photos will be downloaded when you walk though these steps in the video.
However, if you've had family and friends share photos to your timeline, then you'll have to download those images one by one unfortunately. Hope that makes sense.

I hear ya David. It wouldn't surprise me if they are working on something like that or have plans too. I think right now they are just trying to keep the site from crashing since it's the #2 downloaded app right behind Parler.
At least now you can download all your images and then choose which ones you want to add to your MeWe account. ;)

How safe r these four choices, I found them when I wanted to fownliad albums. Fb has partnered with all four of them. Us there a way to do it without choosing one of the four?
I downloaded to Google Photos, then transferred them all to an external hard drive. Then you can delete them from Google or Dropbox or whatever service you have.

I am not seeing the pencil on my photos.
Oh my gosh you just saved me a LOT of work. Because I trusted iCloud when I got a new phone in 2016, I lost a years worth of photos of my baby girl. So my resolution was to go to Facebook and at least save the highlights I posted on FB from that time frame. This is EXACTLY what I needed!!! 💕

Yes, you can download to a thumb drive. When it ask you where you want to download it just chose your thumb drive and it should download them there. I know it did for me.

Ok- so after the photos are in my MacBook Pro - how can I get the dates of photos? Or the original upload date? Because the date is only the upload date transferred meaning current date.
I have over 20k and between IG- FB and next is Google. Need to keep organized if possible.
I've had lots of request about keeping the dates intact and the only way I found to do that is by using their other platforms like Google Photos to download them there. It gets separated into the dates. From there you can then transfer them all to your computer if you wanted to. But this is the only way I have found to be able to file them with dates.

Quick question, do you have the new Facebook design? The reason I ask is because this new design does not give you the option to download the album like it did before. :( Figures FB would change it up after I did this video. There is a way though that you can still download all the images. Try this:
1. Click on the down arrow at the top right of your account and choose Settings
2. From Settings Choose Your Facebook Information (over to the left of your screen)
3. Click on View next to the Download Your Information
4. Only select Photos and Videos
5. Click on Create File
When it's created the file it will send you a notification. At that point Download your video and photos to a folder on your computer and you should have all your photos there. Let me know if that works. If not we'll figure something else out if we can.

If you have a shutterfly account, you can download all of your photos there and it doesn't take forever. Note* it's only for photos.

Hey Anita, Yes, you can, you'll just need to figure out how to unzip the file once it's been downloaded to your phone. Here are the instructions for downloading to iPhone:
For iPhone:
While on the FB app click on the 3 horizontal lines at the bottom right of the screen
Scroll down to find Settings & Privacy and tap on it
Click on Settings
Scroll down and choose Download Your Information
From there, it should look like what is on the video. Deselect everything then just Choose Photos and Videos.
Scroll to the bottom and click create file.
When it's done you click on download and then it will make you login using a browser. It will ask if you want to download the zip file and say yes.
Now you should have it on your phone in the Files app on your phone.

I need to download pictures sent to me on messenger to my photo section on my iPad? Friend sent me several pictures of a semi truck they are selling. I am helping them sell it on market place and these pictures to list postings on market place .?
Try this for downloading from messenger on the FB messenger app. When you have the conversation opened click on the person's name/profile picture at the top left of page. This should open some options and one of those options should be View Photos & Videos. Tap on that, then tap on the photo you want to download. At the bottom left you should see text More. Click on that then choose Save.
Now you should be able to go to your photos on your iPad and it will be there. Let me know if you have any problems.

Can you download your Facebook photos directly to one drive? If so how do you do that instead of on your computer desktop
To One Drive no you're not able to but you can download to Koofr, Dropbox, Google Photos, and Backblaze B2. In order to download to any of these other platforms when under your settings > your facebook information > Transfer a copy of your photos or videos and then follow the prompts. This will also download them into folders with the dates whereas when you download to your computer you don't have that ability.

I hate to say it but you are probably on the New Design of Facebook where they no longer allow you to download a complete Album. You now have to download them individually. Or just download ALL your pictures and videos at once.

Yes, absolutely a thumb drive that can hold all of them. Not sure how big you'll need it but I'd get the one you think will hold all your images for sure. But you can definitely download them to an external hard drive/ thumb drive.

There's no cog wheel any more :/ What do I do?
I have tried to get my pictures off of Facebook however I haven’t seen anything other than it’s being processed. I’m not sure what else to do.
I have been trying to find out WHY Facebook has to "prepare" photos to download. Do you know if it is because Facebook performs some kind of back-up archive for their own records (in case we then decide to delete our photos/albums) without our consent?
Andre, I know that whenever you're downloading large files it does take some time to prepare them all. But, if I'm not mistaken every photo you upload to FB is free gain for them. I believe it's under their Terms of service or Privacy policy. So, unfortunately every video and image that we upload it doesn't matter if we delete it or not. They have it in their databases if they really want them.

It's much easier to do it on the desktop than on the phone. Plus, most computers have more space to download the images than a phone or tablet.

Of course I don't have access to my brothers memorialized account anymore because I forgot the password so I can' confirm this or not. Unfortunately Blake I haven't found a way to do it. Since those pictures could be from several different people I think you just have to download them individually. Unless someone else has found a way and wants to share, it's one by one.

Very cool video...just one question, after clicking download album, nothing happens & I don't get any location option for where the file/pics go to. How can you edit the download location? So frustrating
I know what you mean! It is very frustrating for sure. I'm going to give you some steps to take and let me know if this helps or not. Since Facebook is rolling out the new design little by little I'm hoping these steps work for both.
1. Click on the down arrow at the top right of your account and choose Settings
2. From Settings Choose Your Facebook Information (over to the left of your screen)
3. Click on View next to the Download Your Information
4. You should see Request Copy and Available Copies (there should be a number 1 beside Available Copies) Click on Available Copies
5. You should see the file you want to download in there. Click the Download button and then you should be able to choose the folder you want to download it too.

Hey Peter, it sounds like the only way you can do it is individually. You'll have to go to each picture and at the top right of the profile you'll click on the three dots and then you should see a download button.

Hello, I downloaded an album with more than 10,000 photos, but they ended up out of order. I'd like to know if you have found a way to download the album and keep the photos in the same order, as they got uploaded. In my case, they are photos from a trip, and I would upload them daily. This used to work now it doesn't. I think FB is messing with me. They already warned me and said I posted something that violated the guidelines but would not say what it was! They said next violation and my account is gone! I have a MAC though. Does that change it?This used to work though!

Unfortunately I think Facebook changed things because that cog wheel is no longer available. Looks like you have to download individual photos now
Maggi, you don't see the Cog Wheel when you open an album? I went to another account plus I had someone else try it and we both got the cog wheel and had the option to download that album. That's so strange that you don't have the cog wheel. Does the album you are trying to download have more than one photo in it?

Social Media 4 Beginners no. I used to but not anymore. I figured it out though. I went to settings where you can download your FB history and got all my pics that way. Yeah, I used to have the cogwheel. I remember downloading albums before. But it seems to have disappeared on my account. LOL
