Male Birds are usually more brightly colored to distract from the female and the babies to protect them from predators.
Haha yeah they love trying to eat our toes!
@@FredTheLutinoCocatiel Wrong. Their distinguishing characteristics, green or orange, called sexual dimorphism is determined by evolution through natural selection. Most bird species have vastly different colours and the male with the brightest colours (to a birdâs vision) gets to mate ahead of his rivals. Those genes for bright colours then get passed on to the next generation. It happens in mammals too, lions have manes and lionesses do not for example. Given that the hatchlings live in a tree hollow until they fly no predator can see them. Dimorphism is not linked to distracting the predator, if it was then there would be no males left.
@@teeanahera8949 šis determined by evolution through natural selection. -- Those genes for bright colours then get passed on to the next generation. It happens in mammals too, lions have manes and lionesses do not for example.š = BOLLOCKS !
The reasons why male lions have manes is due to testosterone and not evolution.
A castrated lion will lose its mane , and there are cases of lionesses with manes , and also male lions without manes.
Thanks for your lesson on evolution - just a shame that your theory is not backed by fact.
The one bird looked like a red and green flower, itâs amazing how their colors camouflage perfectly to their surroundings.
Yeah, even rainbow lorikeets can disappear in the trees, in spite of being bright red, yellow, blue and green!
Evolution.
It is not possible to have perfect camouflage, they have quite good camouflage,

@@bondicraig37 we have grackles. Not quite the same.
Exactly why I did it :) Blame the budgies I had when I was a kid.
Don't underestimate Chookie. She comes from the great family of dinosaurs. Her ancestors chickened out to survive from the asteroids, but she's still a dinosaur at heart. You can't demand that she shouldn't eat you, you can only request.
It's kind enough for her not to stomp over your body.
Haha, chookie's the boss!

@@Fenrispro Yeah they're fairly common. It's a bit hard for me to say because I don't know how often other people see them, but I see them in my backyard almost every day.
@@BackyardBirdsofAustralia more so in queensland i think.
Kings are the least shy parrots, wild ones often come into peopleâs gardens and are very inquisitive. Theyâll happily eat out of your hand as you saw here.

There are a zillion places where King parrots can be fed but it is not a good practice to have any animal rely on humans for food.
beautiful, and I mean that bird :)
I wonder are you so special or are the birds so tame in Australia?
All birds eat from your hand :) that's what makes your movies so interesting.
As someone who also feeds the natives from time to time, they are not usually all this tame, more usually its just a bold few.
