      Exactly, it does not make any sense...

    • @nitesh-maharaj
      @nitesh-maharaj Před 2 lety +11

      It's difficult to get everyone from various regions onboard with creating special concessions for exotics. Places like California are extremely strict on emissions and it's a large market for Ferrari. Italy on the other hand will let Ferrari slide when it comes to emissions. Ferrari could get away with building V12s and V8s for years to come and they'll still get into the hands of the majority of their customers, but I think Ferrari also wants to be on the cutting edge of technology. The Chinese market for example, prefers more technology focused cars.
      As motoring enthusiasts we've got to realize that we're on the cusp of a new era and celebrate the cars that we had, while embracing the cars that we will get. By changing our attitudes, I think we can appreciate cars like these more than simply being bitter about the march of progress.

    • @BleedForTheWorld
      @BleedForTheWorld Před 2 lety +3

      @@nitesh-maharaj This isn't progress, though. The root of the argument doesn't lie with "solutions" by driving highly expensive EVs. The root of the argument is that the current mode of economy is unsustainable. That is what has led to manmade climate change.

    • @nitesh-maharaj
      @nitesh-maharaj Před 2 lety

      @@BleedForTheWorld I agree with you in the sense that consumerism is what's actually doing more damage to this planet than anything else. However, good luck getting the world to change their blood lust for frivolous widgets. Speaking specifically about cars, we're able to get more speed and performance by using less energy. This is inherently progress. I wouldn't call it a solution, because then you'd have to ask what problem does a Ferrari solve. This is purely emotional and nobody has ever bought a sports car or super car for pragmatic reasons. If you were running Ferrari and climate change wasn't a thing, would the Ferrari of 2100 follow the same recipe of the Ferrari of 2022? In fact let's step further back and ask, would you still have a naturally aspirated V8 / V12?

    • @BleedForTheWorld
      @BleedForTheWorld Před 2 lety

      @@nitesh-maharaj I mean, if we're going to get to the root of it again, Ferrari and other luxury brands exist for the elite and most wealthy people on the planet. I don't blame the hazard on consumerism. We live in the society of the spectacle, after all. This is connected to the framework that allows people that could never afford a Ferrari to desire one in the first place. The other part of my statement didn't include the energy consumption of cars relative to their performance increase. We all know that horsepower numbers sell. That's also part of the spectacle.

    While I hope there can be a future where we can still drive and buy petrol cars with advancements in renewable technologies like biofuels, honestly I think I’ll eventually be okay with even the most exclusive cars going all electric. Just so long as in its place, designers can show much more freedom with their designs being materialised, both in looking back to the past for classic lines and challenging standards with more exotic and striking choices. Love your work Rory and all the film crew from Autotrader that makes this possible, really liked the cinematography used to capture the car on those beautiful roads, stellar review
