Reverse Platinum Hair to Natural Blonde Color Correction | Easy Highlight and Root Shadow Technique

- Äas pĆidĂĄn 22. 08. 2024
- I'm so excited to finally be sharing a NEW hair tutorial with you đ And this is one I KNOW you'll use in the salon!
In this video, Iâm showing you how to transform a grown-out bleach re-touch platinum into a blended, natural rooted blonde! This is a great technique for clients wanting to transition away from a more high maintenance color to something that will last them longer and grow out more seamlessly!
I know color corrections like this can feel tricky, but I'm going to give you an easy technique using things you most likely already use in the salon (highlighting and root shadowing) to transform your client's hair and blend that line of demarcation đ
Hair Formulas:
âšLightener:
Wella Blondor 20vol increasing to 30vol
âšRoot Shadow:
Redken Shades EQ 1/2 4NB 1/2 6GB 6N
âšSecond Root Shadow:
Redken Shades EQ 1/2 5N 1/2 6NB
Check out my other video when I took this client from brown to platinum blonde in one appointment! This transformation went viral and you'll see why đ±ââïž đ âą Platinum Blonde Color ...

I'm not trying to be rude, but it doesn't look as blended as you pretend it is. I don't see lots of difference with the beginning actually because the color difference is quite harsh to the eye. I think toning down a bit her ends with Ă 8/7 toner and adding a transition color between her roots and her mid shafts (like a 6) would have evened out all the colors very smoothly while still preserving brightness in her hair.
But your technique is of course on point, as always :)
I agreeđđ
I thought the same. I would nt have used the second root tap so dark i would take only the 6 NG and would left the 5N out, because then it would have looked softer.
As the client I would asked for a redo. It looks the same as when she came in except for the hair cut.
I think if she dragged the first root color in between the foils it would have added more natural lowlights in the hair đ Still beautiful though, just interesting to see different ways it can be done!
Agreed. Even just taking that root color down a few inches would have helped immensely.
I would have done regular highlights. Not baby lights bc itâs still dark looks the same. I love your work and I learned a lot from this video anyways.
Would LOVE to see more color correction approaches and on different startling points, like someone with red in theyâre hair wanting to get lighter etc LOVE your videos and posts they have been extremely helpful!!
I hear your requests! These are all so good!
I needed this video when I was doing a grown out full bleach out to a balayaged look. Its difficult getting rid of that harsh regrowth line. But I ended up doing a in-between transition color on her midshaft first then doing your classic foliage technique to add more blonde.. And it looks so much better. But I hate to darken then lighten.
Yeah it can be a process to blend that dark line! But I totally get what you are saying!
We appreciate you so much, Jamie! Thank you for continuing to help educate stylists, everywhere! This video is great!
Awee thank you so much! I'm so glad that you are loving the videos and are finding them so helpful!
đŻđđ
I o h N I o u op just No Iâm I donâtđ. Itâs just that kpthe đ uđ
A lo t work and extra steps for basically the same result. đł
Yes but it is needed. I think there are definitely other ways she could have approached it to make it less difficult for herself. I'm a stylist as well and I do think that she did a little too much. But then again that's what makes a great stylist is being tedious and getting everything perfect.
I canât live without your videos please more Wella and Blondor please I love watching your videos
Awee, I'm so glad that you are loving the videos and are finding them so helpful!
I used your highlighting technique on my client trying to go platinum with a heavy highlight. It turned out beautifully! I was anxious before her appointment until I watched your videos. Thank you for taking your time to educate. I appreciate you!
This is so awesome to hear! I'm so glad that you are loving the videos and are finding them so helpful!
CHRISTMAS!!!! YES JAMIES BACK!!!! SO NEEDED THIS!!!!
Awee this is so sweet of you to say! It feels so good to be back!
Looks kind of the same....I still see the harsh lines of demarcation. I say go baby lights like your money piece area all over the hair.
Or not add that root tap at the end cause the reason for the baby lights were to help with the blend
I agree. Extremely dark roots đ
I've honestly been so scared to do color and you make me feel less scared. I love watching your videos! I learn so much thank you!
Omg Jamie Iâm so glad your back to CZcams I canât wait for what videos you have coming
It feels so good to be back! They're all going to be so good!
I think this video has given me an idea of what to do next to my hair, so I don't have to keep retouching it too much and give it a more natural look. Thank you đ
Major fail but glad you put it out there so we can all learn from it. All that work for the same outcome! I would cry...she sat there for 4hrs.
So glad to see you back doing tutorials Jamie! Great video!
It feels so good to be back! I'm so glad that you are loving the videos.
lots of work for little effect from start... sorry girl not much difference, love your work for 3 yrs now... Ive been a hairdresser for 16 yrs self employed, now retiring. Montreal, Quebec, Canada... With quarantine ALL my clients went 'natural"...mainly cutting/toning now when needed.... Good luck!
Not much difference? Are you wearing your glasses?
I agree poor customerâŠIâm sure she was disappointed.
I agree, it looks very nice but the blonde is not much different from the start. Just looks like a normal tough up not a platinum to natural... Unless before this it was platinum
I like your technique and video, first time watcher :)
Omg What a nightmare that looks like a huge color correction can we have more of these videos please I love watching you do color correction and Blending and platinum
Awee, I'm so glad that you are loving the videos! I have so many more fun ones coming!
I donât think you used enough foils miss đ€© lol but seriously my hair was 4 times the length of this maybe longer and I had just as many foils talk about $$$$ almost broke the bank that day đ„ș now I just DIY to miss Jamieâs tutorials and I have saved hundreds of dollars in the last year â€ïžâ€ïžâ€ïžâ€ïžâ€ïžâ€ïžâ€ïž youâre the bestâ€ïž
I could cry, this is so beautiful! I have such an issue with stylists not wanting to take the time to do my hair because of the mass quantity. I have had so many hair mistakes by lazier stylists & basically pressured to just upkeep a full double process without any dimension. I just really hope my favorite stylist is okay with doing this process, since I didn't know how to communicate what I wanted to begin with, but we had success with many color corrections.
(Because of travel, I've had to find some last minute salons to keep up with my roots and the inconsistencies have wrecked havoc.)
Ughhh, Iâve been waiting a lifetime for you to upload again. đ€©đ€©đ€©
Haha! I'm so excited to be back!
Love your foiling. Very cleanđ
Awee, thank you so much!
I donât see a difference đŁ
Really inspiring! I personally donât like this look. To me it looks like she left the salon with regrow but can see the benefits. You are very talented. Thanks for sharing
What benefits...she looks the same?
@@dolcevita713 LOL did you see her hair at the start... very yellow and harsh. Looked way better at the end.
You should be proud your one of the only comments I've seen on her page after years of watching that is actually kinda rude. đ€Ł She's actually pretty good too and one of the best teaching stylists I've watched on CZcams. My favorite in a way.
I someway agree. Jamie is the best This client had a difficult level 3 of regrowth. A lot of out growth! The Malibu treatment was needed to get all minerals out of the hair. I too prefer a more melting blend but we do what client wants . Her natural color was not warm/ soft. Maybe balayage the hair in between with just 5N. I foil like Jamie especially diagonally on sides to back and this technique is the greatest!
Iâm so happy you are back
Gahh, it feels so good to be back!
@@JamieDana I bet it does, I know when I take breaks it feels amazing to come back. You have been missed, and you are such a talent I have learned so much from you
Iâm so glad your back!!!! Her hair is gorgeous! Thank you for sharing! đ
It feels so good to be back! Thank you so much, that is so sweet of you to say!
Wooo girl we needed a hair video! Yey!!
Yay! I'm so glad this is what you needed!
Watching from Australia đ
It's 4am and I just finished work. This was my wind down video... lol.
Love the new intro, Jamie! And of course the content đ„° Such a gorgeous "colour correction" xx
Awee thank you so much! I'm so glad that you are loving the videos!
Love the intro, especially the Chihuahuas! You, your hubby and doggo's are all such cute family! Much love from Canada:)
Aweee, thank you so much! It was so fun to film the intro!
I love your intro!!!!!!! So dope and professional looking! Looks like a tv shows intro like kardashians or something
You the BEST J!!!đcanât stop watching all your techniques đđ»â€ïž
Awee thank you so much! I'm so glad that you are loving the videos and are finding them so helpful!
Iâve really enjoyed your videos. You are a excellent stylist and wonderful teacher. Although another approach for less time and more dimension could have been approached by not leaving the ends out in foils, but instead used a conditioner or the milk rinse on the mid shaft and the ends and folded the foil to protect the lightener. Add the darker shades color in between the foils at the roots and another formula at med shaft and ends that combats a muddy color and process in between the foils in open air. Process then rinse in cool water. Iâve used this approach, it provides excellent dimension and a lot less time. âźïžâ€ïž
Love it !! You are so good on everything that you do , it always helps me lot on watching your videos you always give share every solution that you use and is very helpful thanks for sharing !!
Why would you do olaplex 2 and then Malibu after it? I feel like the Malibu would just bust the cuticle wide open again
I loved this!! đđđ
I'm getting my hair done on Monday, I've had the baliaged natural look for years, it's been around a year since I've had any highlights so most of the blonde is grown out, my natural colour is dark blonde đ I can't wait to look fresh and bright again.
My hair looks very golden and yellow at the moment.
Thanks for sharing xox
Awee thank you so much! I'm so glad that you are loving the videos and are finding them so helpful!
OMG NEW HAIR VIDEO IVE WAITED FOR A YEAR XXX

Missed you boooo!!!!
Awee, that is so sweet of you to say!
I don't see any change at all. Except curls.
The girl wasnât buying it either...probably went home and said wtf?
I couldn't click fast enough!đđœ
Awee, this is so sweet of you to say!
Amazing!
A lot of work! How many hours did you color her hair ?
Thank you!
Awee, thank you! I would say about 4ish hours!
This is why I want to work for myself again. The salon I currently work at as a employee. Would tie me to the whipping post for taking 4hours
Beautiful!! I love all your work and are so enthusiastic!! I have started doing the baby lights at the top of the hairline at the widows peak and it looks great!! Thank you, Jamie!!
I definitely learned some awesome techniques thank you !
Awee of course, I'm so glad that you loved it and found it helpful!
YAS! LOVE the new intro!

Another winner! The root tap is genius. Your color is amazing - what is the combo? Only wish I could take my head off to do the back đ
You are top of my list you are a credit to the hairdressing industry from Carla England Leeds xx
Great video! So glad your back!! Also.. why was she taking photos/recording while you were foiling her crown area lol
She was taking them for her Instagram stories (:
hello... what is the brand of your shampoo bowl.... where did you get it???? I love all the hair education and color tecnics
Awee, I'm so glad that you are loving all of the techniques and are finding them helpful! My shampoo bowl is from Minerva Beauty!
I am so in love with your intro!! Itâs incredible!!!
Thank you so glad you are back .
Loveđ! Your videos are satisfying to watchđ€
Awee thank you so much! I'm so glad that you are loving the videos!
What was her natural level? To my eyes it looks like shes about a level 2. I have a client who i think this would look great on. She is growing out a double process blonde and is a natural level 4/5. Would you suggest doing a 6 or 7 root smudge? Ive usually done level 7 for her root smudge but after watching this im wondering if i should drop down a level.
Great to have you back Jamie! Love your process and the end result is perfect! đ
What foils exactly did you use...I assume Framar. These don't look embossed...what weight? Much appreciative of your reply.
Awee, it feels so good to be back! I normally use Framar foils but this time I just used regular foils (:
Love it!! Youâre awesome!
How to get same gold rose shades in your hair, could you make a video for that, thanks đ
I actually have a few videos on my channel where I showcase hair like mine! But my formula is Pulp Riot's Cleopatra diluted down with conditioner.
So excited đ€©
Awee yay! I'm so excited that you're excited!
you are amazing Jamie..so inspirationalđđ thank u fr sharing this
Lovely! Have you tried the Vellen combs? Iâm kind in love. Would you do a review?
May I ask why you prefer Wella Blondor? I used to use and love learning about other stylists favourites! đâ€ïžđšđŠ
I have not tried them before! But I started out using Wella everything and I feel as if it has just stuck with me throughout the years!
so positive and beautiful results
Enjoy watching you đđ i needed this đđ»đđ»đđ»
How long would something like this take you? I always feel like I move slower than others even when Iâm trying to move fast. I just donât like to skip out on any hair!
It looks amazing!!!
that looks really nice thank you for showing your techniques :)
Love the new intro!
Thank you so so much! It was so much fun to make!
Love it â€
Geourgous work Jaime! đ
Amazing! So pretty! Quick question tho- when removing that leftover pink⊠how come you did the CPR AFTER the olaplex no 2? Just cuz in my way of thinking, Iâd do the cpr first before the no 2 since the no 2 closed the cuticle down a bit, I feel like it would make it more difficult to get that pink out if I were to do the no 2 first? Not sure if Iâm making sense.. lol just curious as to what your thought process is on that! I sometimes am not sure when to and when not to use the no 2. Thank you! Youâre amazing!
Beautiful work as always Jamiel!!! Can I ask what you use for your deep conditioning treatments?
Love watching your tips and tricks.I have been dying my hair for so long.I would Love to see what tip and tricks do you have for proctecting our hair color from growing out to soon.Or what shappoos and conditioner can you use.
You canât stop or slow the hair from growing . Expect about 1/2â regrowth per month on average
Hey hey! Love your videos!
Awee, thank you so much! That is so kind of you to say!
Just curious why you used the Malibu CPR on her pink? Was that a permanent color you were trying to remove? I think the DDL wouldâve worked much better mixed with water if it wasnât an oxidative color.
I do love how clean you work. đ
What is DDL?
@@danielafriedrich4487 direct dye lift
Thank you so much for this video! What did you use for the blending agent please?đ„°
I used the biolage acidic milk rinse!
Love your videos and have missed you! Where did you get your plant in the background?!
I got it at a local plant shop! But thank you so much, I've missed being here!
I like your tutorial! What is the substitute for the Raw conditioner, can I use other conditioner ?
Wow! First time watching you and this girl knows what sheâs talking about! Wish a lot of these cosmos would take this much passion
How much would this cost?
this was good
Awee, I'm so glad that you found it so helpful!
Jamie I LOOOVE your new look!! Xoxo
Awee, thank you so much Katie!
how do i find a hairstylist who gets taught by you, i have neve seen anyone be so detailed in there work before, do you have a page for referrals ?
Holy carp thatâs just a lot!
Amazing job, Iâve asked this before. Not sure if anyone replied but the shades eg developing time is 20mins. The application of the root smudge must have taken you 15-20 to apply. Does this affect the tones/ over development of the shaded eg toner ?
Did the Malibu not get all the pink out? I love your videos! Your so fun and outgoing!!
I would make the roots with highlight and the others Hair beetween would i tone the brown she have ( bevor pigmentet with red foam)
Love your points on organization and keeping it neat and tidy
Is root shadowing normal tint with normal peroxide?
Great job Thanks for sharingâ€
Awesome!!!!!!!!
Very nice đčâ€ïžđđđđčâ€ïž
How long did it take to get all those fouls in ?
I would say around 2ish hours!
Great đ
Can you please recommend a good heat protection? Best curling iron?
I love this tutorial video but I will have to charge my clients more and they want something faster and less expensive đąâ€
It looks the same.
No ...,.
Look closely around new growth
I think the lighting doesnât do it justice as if you look over again at the result you can see the hl in the roots every now and again. But I must admit Iâd go in a bit thicker with my HL on top.
@@naomipreston8937 I concur đ
I agree...I would ask for a refund or a redo. I have clients perspective and expect lines of demarcation to be blended. I shouldnât have to look closely.
I thought so too. I really thought at the end that she was showing the client's before hair again before realizing it was the final product.
Why do you keep setting your foiling comb up and down? Instead of always keeping it in your hand?
What the fuck do you care?
She is using her hand to perfect her foil drrrrrr
Question so do you dye whole hair blonde then do black roots and then fix blonde ?
How do you schedule time on the books for this if you have no idea what the client is coming in with? Especially when you have your books full?
Do a preconsult or ask them to send in photos via text
Ooohh great question! Like Vinoto said below, we did a pre-consult and I had her send me in photos! This is definitely a color correction so we made sure we had the appropriate amount of time booked out.
I require a consultation for all new color clients and any color correction and I always book as my last or sometimes only client of the day. If they have to wait 6 weeks for the appointment then so be it.
Can someone please tell me where can i find that mirror with that shelf???
It was from Ikea but unfortunately they discontinued it :(
I found the shelf at ikea đ does your is a 2 pieces or just one complete? I found another girl that had it she told me how to find them đ but separetely đ€·đ»ââïž works for me...
this is amazing! ps. i love that outfit! please tell me where it is from
I would just prelighted the root ... easier and do the rest with root shadow and toner
Nice to see a woman doing these videos...always seems to be male stylists who do them. You're much better at it.
Awee thank you so much!
