  • Located at the furthest northwest tip of the United States, Cape Flattery is absolutely stunning with dramatic views of the rugged rocks and clear teal waters of the Pacific Ocean. On a good day, you could see gray whales off the Cape and sea lions on Snake Rock just east of Tatoosh Island. To get to the viewpoint for Cape Flattery, you’ll have to hike through a lovely trail. This trail is short and easy, perfect for families with children and hikers of all abilities. Since Cape Flattery is managed by the Makah Tribe in Neah Bay, Washington, there is a permit fee to visit. This permit is good for a year and you can also use it for other spots in the area such as Shi Shi Beach.

Excellent description and video of the trail. I am SO glad you mentioned that it took you two 1 hr 45 mins to hike the trail. My husband and I just hiked it a few days ago, and it took us relatively the same amount of time. He's 83 and was just super on the way back up (not "easy" at that age!). So glad we went, and we look forward to your other videos.

Stoked to hear that you guys got to get out there to do this hike for yourself. Isn't it gorgeous? There is so much beauty along the Washington coast. We need to get back out there to enjoy it some more :) Hopefully we can show you some more awesome spots! Have a great day!

Thanks for the video. I like to see exactly what I'm getting into before I add it to my itinerary and this video was perfect.

Great video explanation. Is the permit cost per person?

Thank you. The permit cost is per vehicle for a whole calendar year.

We were there just the night before. My family member didnt feel comfortable around all these trees saying "a good place to make a horror movie". We are seriously wondering why all trees are damaged there? We have been in way too many places in the Olympic Peninsula, and only trees in this area are more strange looking like damaged. Do you know WHY?
