It takes the anger, turmoil, lawlessness & stupidity of today's youth to make us appreciate what we had. PR & The Raiders were and are awesome! This group rocked, there's no denying it. The writing, the arrangements, the lead singing of Mark - who is without a doubt in my mind one of the finest rock voices ever... They were just a very underrated band probably due to the costumes and on-stage antics, but if you listen to their catalogue, you'll agree that their music ranks right up there with anything that was produced back then - or even now.

But the definition of a manufactured group is a group who's members were brought together by a record company (or TV network) who had not played together before. Usually they are told how to dress, how to move, etc. Many groups have not written their own songs. Many have studio musicians play on artists' records (the producers usually insist on it). But they were a group before the came to the studio. You can't blame the group for the producers' demands on them.

Even mom liked this stuff. I hate to say it but I feel bad for kids now. If it isn't rather depressing it's about really bad things, hate for others or there's no melody at all. Just beats. But they're simply creating music that they relate to. Again, kind of sad. Terry Melcher, (Doris Day's son), rip! Thanks for helping to make the music of my childhood.

The way I would lose myself was listening to the radio. That's how I coped with my problems back then. Music was what kept me going. Over the years I also heard this song and others as well. What I enjoy about The Raider's Him or Me recording is it's loud Hard Rock edge. The electric Piano & Bass guitar are really turned up loud and the drumming is fast paced. I would personally Play this song w/ a Rock Oldies Band today! The Lyrics are every Singles guy's concern. Someone has made a move on your Girlfriend! Thank you for posting this 1967 TV appearance.

Hello, All. I play these tunes when I want to be reminded of a time when our society was far more civil, more relaxed & more accepting of each other ("do your own thing"). Virtually no precious time was wasted calling each other ugly names & pointing politically correct fingers. 60's lyrics encouraged respect for ALL human beings. My husband & I made sure our children grew up hearing these 60's pop, folk & folk-rock classics with their feel good, optimistic sound. Maybe, if more parents follow suit, we, as a nation, could get back there again. Peace.

I am holding on to the hope that positive lyrics and the warmer more mutually respectful feelings people had for each other in the 60's will return for the sake of our children and their children. Ah. My sister (then only about 20) and her best friend used to play Bingo with all the old ladies. They got a kick out of it.
Anyway, Sis had her Bingo wands in the car. So, here’s this 20 year old and this 17 year old singing their lungs out to this song, toolin’ down the road, using Bingo wands (of all stupid things) as microphones.
I love this super fun song and Iove the memory of our goofiness that goes along with it.

I love the way they refuse to take the lipsyncing role seriously, goofing around toward the end of the song. You see a lot of that in these '60s clips; I think the Lovin Spoonful and the Boxtops both were in clips where they lifted their hands in the air or made light of the fakery in some other way. It must have been frustrating having to do that on shows that didn't have the time or resources to make a live performance work.

Mark Lindsay was the perfect frontman; tall, great looking, energetic, great singer. The group antics made them more entertaining than some bands. I remember reading an article on him in one of the teen mags, where they asked why he wasn't already married. At the ripe old age of 26! Imagine. I was 15 so too young for him 😂
