Glad you bushwhacked down to that waterfall. Beautiful!
Thank you waterfallmadman! With all the rain we've had there were waterfalls every where. You would have really enjoyed this trip.
Thank you for another nice video. I've been wanting to do the Burnt Mill Bridge loop as a dayhike for many years; now I want to do it more than ever! Lord bless and happy trails.
Thank you David! It's an easy loop and hope you get to do it.
@@BryanDeLay I finally did the Burnt Mill Bridge loop as a dayhike back in June. There are some very nice rock shelters on that trail, and it looked like there would be some great camping spots too. The river was not nearly as high when I was there. I had a great time on that hike; it is a nice option for hikers who have done some of the Big South Fork's more famous trails and want a bit of a change with some solitude.
Small but amazing waterfall. Beautiful pool color and overhanging cliff. I'm glad you got down there to get video of it.
I'm glad you appreciate my effort to get that video!
Trust me I do, I've butt crawled through miles of rhodo on steep slopes to see some terrible waterfalls in NC
Beautiful area! - we like hiking in the cooler months too- because it’s not too hot and very few bugs.... loved to see all the water in your video- looks really peaceful - thanks!!
Thanks Jennifer! Big South Fork is a different kind of place, a little hot in the summer, but great in late fall to early spring.
absolutely beautiful hike, been watching some of your older stuff, I love BSF. Loved your campsites here and all the water after all that rain
Thanks Nicole! Big South Fork is great in late fall, winter and early spring. The ticks can be bad in summer.
Beautiful trail. Thank you for posting!
Thanks Ron! Glad you enjoyed the video.
That's a great trip Bryan. I've done it twice, once by myself and once leading a Sierra Club backpack, camped both times right above Beaver Falls. Both times I went down to the bottom of the falls on the east side like I think you did, but on the second trip we returned on the west side (the left side as you walk down the creek) and that side is MUCH easier to ascend/descend.
Thanks Will, if I go back I'll try the west side.
Another great video 🥾🥾👍👍 Yes! The waterfall views were totally worth the effort 😊😊
Thanks Jennifer! Glad you enjoyed the waterfalls.
Hey Bryan. great video 84 nights is a good run. Doesn't look at all like winter there. Lots of snow here. i'll be heading out Sunday for the Washakie Wilderness. take care my friend.
Thanks Martin! Yea, 84 nights was a pretty good year. My record was 104 in 2015. We had a freak storm a little over 3 weeks ago that dumped over a foot of snow in the higher elevations, but that's all melted now. We have sure had a lot rain though. Stay warm next week and be safe.
Wow, this trail(s) looked amazing! I'm jealous of having some good trail to walk this time of year. 84 nights out would be a record for me. I struggle to get half of that. Great video!
Thanks Mountain Wanderer! One of the benefits of living in east Tennessee is being able to backpack 12 months out of the year. Regarding 84 nights, I'm retired and there are several thousand miles of trails within 3 hours of me. But we don't have all the big views that you westerners enjoy.
Big South Fork looks really beautiful this time of year. The water was moving fast. Loved your camping area. That waterfall was beautiful.
Thanks Jason! Yea, Clear Fork Creek was moving very fast and the highest water level I've ever seen in the creek.
Watched your great little video to see what I was getting into on this hike. Plan on doing it this weekend. Thanks again.
Thanks Johnny! Hope you are having fun this weekend.
@@BryanDeLay Bryan help me if you can ? How far down the trail is it to the campground where folks have made chairs/recliners out of rocks? We are planning on going back and maybe camping and doing some fishing for a day or two and I can't remember exactly how far that campsite is. We will be carrying a lot more gear. Good little hike by the way and never saw another soul or sign of anyone being on it in awhile.
And its Johnny not Judy. Don't know why it shows that way sometimes.
Bryan we are going back on this hike in a few weeks. Refresh my memory please. How far down that trail is it to the campsite with the rock chairs/recliners some one made ? Plan on going down there and setting up to fish for a day or two.
Very well done!
Thanks Middle Tn Hikes! Glad you enjoyed the video.
yes I did enjoy them.your Wind River Range trip has me planning a trip there this summer Thanks
Thank you Tom! Hope you enjoy the Winds.
Enjoyed your final video of 2018 Bryan. Liked hearing the roar of the water and all the other natural sounds. We had our share of water from that rain as well!
Thank you Carl!
these videos will stand the test of time.
Thanks so much Rick!
Another hike to add to my list but unfortunately BSFNRRA is a hard days drive for me and work keeps interfering with my hiking and fly fishing in your part of the world. But keep posting your trail adventures ‘cause retirement is not too far off and I’ll be able to spend more time doin’ and less time day dreamin’. Happy trails!
So fortunate to live in Knoxville with many backpacking opportunities within 3 hours. I'll keep posting places to add to your retirement wish list.
New subscriber awesome upload I'll be visiting that area this Wednesday can't wait
Thanks WadeLife! Have fun at BSFNRRA tomorrow, just watch for ticks there this time of year.
@@BryanDeLay Always got my repellent handy
Been a while since I have been on that trail. Love BSF! Man the river sure was up, wasn't it? Thanks Bryan, really enjoyed
Thank you Karl O, glad you enjoyed the video. The highest I've ever seen Clear Fork.
Nice video Bryan. Seems like you were the only one out there. Trying to get up in that area or smokys for 3 night winter hike & camp. I want to get some snow footage
Thanks Tom! I'm glad you brought this up. I should have mentioned in the video that I didn't see anyone from the time I left the trail head until I got back. About 3 weeks ago we had about a foot of snow in the higher elevations, but my son just got back yesterday from a trip in the higher elevations in the GSMNP and almost all the snow is melted.
@@BryanDeLay Lol...yeah you usual do give a head count. Which is great, it lets you know how crowded those trails are or aren't. I'm sure another cold front will come through up there and dump some more snow. The Nobo At hikers will start getting into gear soon too. Seems there are over 900 registered through hikers already. Thanks Bryan maybe one day we will get to meet up on a trail.
Just let me know if you come up to the Smoky's.
@@BryanDeLay Thanks.. I will do that.. Let you know the next time I head up that way...
I have enjoyed them sir. Thank you for taking the time to put out the videos. Happy 2019.
Thank you Vonzo! I really enjoy making the videos and it's an extra plus when people enjoy them. Happy New Year to you too.
Hello sir. Nicely done. I subscribed today after looking at your video. I’m planning to start at Burnt Mill this weekend and hiking two nights up the Muir to honey creek and back. I’d love to find that falls. Does it follow Clear Fork north or south? If you don’t mind clarifying. Blessings to you and hope you’re well. Looking forward to watching more videos.
Thank you croc hikes. The falls is on Beaver Creek, which the JMT crosses between Burnt Mill Bridge Loop and Honey Creek Loop. When you get to Beaver Creek, about 2 miles north of Burnt Mill Bridge Loop, the falls is not far down stream from the JMT. The best access to the bottom of the falls is on the south side of Beaver Creek. Have fun on your trip this weekend.
Love your vids! Thank you sir!
You're welcome Hank! Glad you enjoy my videos.
Went last weekend. My backyard.
Thanks for watching Debbie! Hope you had a fun trip.
Hi Bryan. I really enjoy your vids. Could you please give me a sense of the location of your first night's camp. Was it up or down stream of Burnt Mill Bridge and approx mileage from bridge? Huge thank you!
Thanks Sine Square! My first night's campsite is only about a mile upstream from the Burnt Mill Bridge. The trail goes right next to the campsite, so you can't miss it.
Hello Bryan my wife and I have retired to Dale Hollow Lake in Clay Co. we just started to hike been trying to do two day hikes a week now for two months but want to start camping soon. We really like the BSF, we did the Honey Creek Loop last week and loved it. Do you have any advice for that? thanks for the videos.
Sorry to be so long in replying Rick, but I just saw this comment. BSF is a very nice area, especially late fall to early spring (a little hot in summer for me). First I would suggest that you get Trails Illustrated map #241 of Big South Fork. Second I would suggest that you check out the Twin Arches area and the Angels Falls Overlook and the Grand Gap Loop. Hope this helps!
Bryan we are looking for some place different to hike. The hike down John Muir Trail (right after you cross Honey Creek Rd.) to Beaver Creek where you camped the second day, how difficult is the trail back up from Beaver Creek to Honey Creek Road and what kind of distance is it down and back ? Any help would be appreciated. Thank You
Johnny it's only about 2 miles from Honey Creek Rd. to Beaver Creek and the elevation loss is only about 200 feet.
@@BryanDeLay Thank you Bryan. That helps.
Good trip Bryan! Are u using the BD carbon poles? I’ve used Levi forever but like the strength and feel of the BD poles. I’m considering a pair.
Thank you Tim. No I'm using the BD aluminium poles. This is my second pair, I bent one about 2 years ago crossing a creek.
Ha, I broke a Levi crossing Lake Ann Pass this past June on the CO West Alternate. Good poles are essential for me and I use them with my Duplex tent too. Thanks Bryan for the info.
Tim, I've gone through so many hiking poles. If I get three years out of a pair I'm doing pretty good. I used Leki for many years but got tired of the twist to tighten the extension. When I tried out their clamp version verse BD I felt like the BD model had a better balance. However I do miss Leki's life time warranty, which I used several times. BD only has a one year warranty, but they are cheaper than Leki.
Haha! I so agree! Levi has been so good to replace mine. However, the BD’s just seem stronger, although I’ve never hiked with them.
At any rate, I can’t imagine hiking without poles and use them for my Duplex tent now too. Thanks for the info and replies!
Just wish I lived in a area or at least short drive times to areas that offered so many nice hiking trails. South Florida is not a hikers paradise!
I certainly enjoy living in east Tennessee.
I managed to have a map of the pinhoti skyloop made from my topo fyi
Thanks Fred! I assume you are talking about my Cheaha Wilderness video.

If this is a question the answer is no! It's in Tennessee.
