Thanks for a lovely reaction and for pointing out little details that I've managed to miss. Especially the bit about Cory's playing, that I've had a hard time to pick out myself.
That tuba isn't a tuba though; it's a double-bell euphonium and, as a brass musician, I think it's just so ridiculously cool. Gotta love Michael B. Nelson, both his horn arrangements and his playing. So smooth! 😍

Just a delightful reaction. Great comments and just so sincerely into the music and the groove. This is one of the all time great covers. Considering it is such an iconic, beloved classic it really had to be. Years and years of dedicated practice and a whole lot of talent. They play with such joy too. Nice job man, you nailed this one.

Thanks for pointing out Corys contribution to the song! That was new for me even though I’ve heard the song many times. Other reactors have missed it to it seems. Some have commented that they didn’t hear much of his playing thinking he might have taken the backseat on this one.
Go for their next song together; Follow The Light. 😉

    Haha, such a fun reaction!
    And your comments, on point.
That ‘reharmonization’ bit they tripped you up with, I think instead of it going down in fourths it’s simply using a major third where one would expect a minor one, but I could be wrong….
    Disgusting indeed 😅
“Follow the light” from the same DLoops/Cory Wong collaboration, is equally disgusting :)
Immensely looking forward to your reaction to that one!

    I'll always leave a comment for a #DoubleBellEuphonium LOL
This level of precociousness is possible when all 3 of the genius-level dudes from your nation's top music college get together & bounce off each other in a band like Dirty Loops did! I mean, one of them suggested taking one of the most iconic pop tunes ever, swinging it in 12/8 (mostly!), & splitting it with a full-on film score as a bridge.... & the other 2 probably just giggled a bit while nodding their heads en route to grabbing their instruments to get started o_O #CrazyTalent And what a great job Wong & his killer brass players did with this arrangement. :)
The whole collab album they did is *nasty* btw.

I almost get pissed off every time I hear Dirty Loops. I've been playing the bass professionally, mostly jazz, fusion and funk, in periods since more than 20 years. It doesn't matter how much I play and practice. I know I'll never get even close to what Henrik does. Bastard!

I see you like Polyphia and Dirty loops..I have a band for you. Progressive metal from Australia: NE OBLIVISCARIS. the song, "And Plague Flowers The Kaleidoscope"
Matthew Hindson, classical composer and Chair of Composition at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music says about this song: '"I will be presenting 'And Plague Flowers The Kaleidoscope' to the composition students at the Conservatorium next semester as an exemplar in structure, mixing timbres, meters, modes, how to approach virtuosity, sound and noise, extended performance and techniques. The students will need to study 2 technical aspects of what Ne Obliviscaris have done in their music, and then use these techniques in their own classical music compositions. It is my pleasure to introduce such high quality music making to our students, alongside other music by composers including Beethoven, Gershwin, Steve Reich and Peter Sculthorpe. Musicians deserve to hear the music of Ne Obliviscaris, and the music of many other metal bands, in order to appreciate the compositional complexity that lies within it, no matter what their musical tastes"
Hope you enjoy it too: here the song, live: czcams.com/video/rNuVdsx7qJY/video.html
And, if you really really like progressive music..

@@Kyleiswild Damn, there's some pretty stellar bass work in that one. Henrik is who I wanna be when I grow up, and I'm 34 lol. It's also somewhat soul-crushing, I'm not sure I'll ever be that proficient with my bass, but I can dream.
