If you cant get whisky sauce peppercorn sauce is the next best thing.
As a Scotsman, I’m glad you enjoyed it, there’s a stigma around it due to the ingredients, but it’s absolutely amazing 👍🏻
Bloody love haggis! I eat it regularly, in Indian restaurants here in Scotland they do haggis pakora. It is to die for. There is also another dish called Balmoral chicken, which is a chicken breast stuffed with haggis usually with a whisky or pepper sauce. If I see this on the menu in a restaurant I always order it, it's beautiful.
So pleased you liked it, tastes amazing, your right it can appear a bit dry but I sometimes add a little gravy sauce, it’s sensational with a whisky sauce
Coming from a Mancunian, haggis is proper bangin'.. I love the stuff, along with black & white pudding😎. The aldi one isn't great, it's a bit like cat food, so don't let that put you off from a proper Scottish butchers one. In fact, I order all my haggis online from a few different places in Scotland and it's amazing😉.
If you are a bit adventurous switch out mince in any recipe with haggis you won't regret it. Haggis Bolognese or Haggis lasagne are incredible, the spices just give these dishes an extra twist.

I love Haggis but never tried the brand Aldi sell. Will give that a go. Yummy! Haha! "I feel like I'm going to get my kilt on and my bagpipes". Had me roaring. Love it!

The taste you might be thinking of is white pudding as it has the same ingredients apart from extra spice and of course blood.
I bloody love haggis. If you can get hold of the meatball sauce from Ikea make some of that up with a splash of whisky and serve with cranberry sauce. Yum. I do mine in the microwave. I often buy it all year round,
I have this quite often - you can get tinned haggis that can be served with any veg, or with the traditional neeps and tattie - or turn it into a (haggis) Shepherd's pie - or you can buy a tin of haggis neeps and tatties ready mixed. This last comes as a haggis which you wrap in foil and then cook in the oven. Very enjoyable.
You are correct about Robert Burns he did write Auld lang syne. Have you ever tried veg roll from Northern Ireland? I had it as part of an ulster fry, it's like a black pudding shaped beef sausage with veg and herbs. You slice it the same way and fry it. I get mine sent from home butchers online, it's the only place I can find it if you want to try for yourself. I usually have it with some champ.
Buy another one and add a splash of boiling water & a knob of butter B4 putting it in the microwave and serve with gravy....

The best way I can describe it is mince, but with a very smokey kick to it.
Never tried it myself - always been curious - it looks good in the photo so I assume it’s tasty!

If you dont know how to make or buy whisky sauce alternatly try it with peppercorn sauce

Lol Deano I bet you was gutted giving the other half to your dog!! We love haggis, always done it in the microwave, can’t see what difference boiling it will do 🤷♀️ but at todays prices I’m not using 45 mins to find out 😂 we only ever remember we like it on Burns night, but I must admit I prefer it to black pudding so should maybe buy it more often 😊

I love haggis - being a Scot it's part of my heritage. However, now I live in Spain it's almost impossible to get, post-Brexit. Glad you enjoyed it 😊
