  • Gauhati High Court puts a hold on the eviction drive carried out by Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council at Balijan colony until further notice. The court directed the KAAC to file their reply on or before the 21st of February and till then the interim order passed by the court shall continue to operate. Advocate, S. Borgohain, who appeared before court along with Joshua Sheqi and N. Sarkar on behalf of the victims. While talking to NLTV he informed that an interlocutor application has been filed on Wednesday and that was presided by Justice Manas Ranjan Pathak of Guwahati High Court. Whereby the applicants challenged the KAAC’s affidavit filed on February 2nd in high court. It may be worth mentioning that through the affidavit KAAC cited that the Karbi Anglong Land Revenue Amendment Act, empowers it to carry out eviction in areas that come under autonomous council’s jurisdiction. Borgohain also stated in the application they have termed the act of KAAC not within the framework of the constitution. Further they appealed that the matter should be heard by a division bench, as per rules of Gauhati High Court and sought an extension of the stay order issued by court on December 23. While hearing the application the high directed KAAC to submit the reply on or before 21st February with the interim order remaining in effect

If Nagas has bought the lands then Nagaland Government should interfere and intervene to protect its citizens. Its just like a Naga Citizens buying land in Mumbai and being UNFAIRLY treated just for being a Naga ...so the Nagaland Government should interfere since it's duty bound to protect its citizens venturing outside the state

You are right i agree with you because we are not bangladesi we are all an indian citizens.... and at the same time karbiland wants to be under nagaland state they don't want to stay under assam

What I personally feel that it is very much foolish to carry out eviction in baligan i should say😡😡seriously the Karbi people selling all of their land share given by the Assam govt long time back and now after we have developed that particular area, now they are jealous and trying to claim back their land which very much injustice for the land owners in that particular area.....second they are saying that eviction is carried out due to illegal migrants but we the Nagas are not illegal migrants we are Indian's and we have every right to get sattle anywhere in India according to the Constitution so I think the Guahati Court should punish the KAAC according to the law because they have violated the Guahati Court stay orders......."No one is above the law" KAAC should know that.....trying to do Gundagardi is very much intolerable for our Naga bothers.....we the Naga people have purchase the land from Karbi people we did not occupied their land forcefully so whatever we have lost during this eviction should be paid back by the KAAC.😡😡

My naga brothers and sisters don't be confused because first of all the assamese people or the assam goverment has ordered the karbi autonomous council to carry out the eviction and they had to follow as the assam goverment is superior to the karbi people and now the assam people is changing its colour and blaming karbi tribe who are very friendly to naga people and even has very similar tradition as naga tribes but now mr borgohain is giving a statement that the karbi tribes are wrong so that the trible people like nagas and karbi will engaged in war between each other .... and that means DIVIDE AND RULE POLICY so i as a karbi tribe wants every karbi and naga tribes to have a mutual understanding and stay as peacefully it was ... long live KUKNALIM.
