That first winch you’re showing with the slotted mast is installed upside down. The entire winch mount needs to come off the mast and be flipped. The roller or stop is supposed to be above the eye on the boat. Flipping would place the stop higher and allow your eye to fit tight under it to actually function as a stop in an accident situation while trailering. Chances are you’ll never get into one, just an issue I’ve also dealt with previously.
Here’s a hot one for ya…mine is also sewn on. When recovering the boat the winch is slipping on its axle. After years of service it can now barely develop enough tension to pull the boat up onto the bunks. The spring ratchet is functioning properly. Where do I put The Tool? :)

What is the brand of that adjustable mounting pole? Do you have a link to where it can be purchased?
