    Thank-you for the review of this portfolio and your research-based commentary. It's helpful to see the research underlying the criticism so that we can build our understanding.

    Great video and I can see the rationale for your conclusions. I am a UK investor however so cannot access all of the ETF's you mention. Could you kindly recommend UK equivalents for your modified portfolio?

      Thanks. Sorry, I'm not at all familiar with products available to those outside the U.S.

    if i wanted this many assets, then i would look at Merryman's Ultimate Buy and Hold. thumbs up.

    I don't own REIT stocks in a taxable account due to the higher taxes. My portfolio will consist of 10 dividend stocks, a preferred stock ETF and a money market fund. Real estate will be added in at some point though it will be actual properties, not in REIT stocks. With a REIT stock you own shares in a real estate company rather than the underlying properties. I also own an alternative investment through a market neutral mutual fund.

    Out of all the portfolios you review, which do you think provides the best overall returns for a 30+ years timeline?

    • @OptimizedPortfolio
      @OptimizedPortfolio  Před rokem +1

      Impossible to say as the future is unknowable. Maybe my own. But it should also be qualified for a given level of risk, as leverage typically improves long term returns up to a point.

      @@OptimizedPortfolio that’s fair. Do you have a link to your M1 portfolio holdings? I’d love to take a look.

    Bonds have gone down. Are 5 yrs bonds better than longer term bonds in case of rate reset?

    • @OptimizedPortfolio
      @OptimizedPortfolio  Před 9 měsíci

      Depends on time horizon and what else is in the portfolio. If rates drop, we'd expect the price of long bonds to shoot up more than 5-yr bonds.

    Why do the majority of portfolio templates never include growth funds or a low cost technology fund.

    • @OptimizedPortfolio
      @OptimizedPortfolio  Před rokem +1

      Value has greater expected returns + factor diversification. Wouldn't really make any sense to tilt Growth, though you may find a Momentum fund in some that would sort of be a proxy for Growth.

    Another good reminder that there seems to be bias toward client fees, newsletter revenues, or “special sauce reputation” to be built from this and many other similar “lazy portfolios” that don’t seem particularly data driven.
    Overweighting precious metals, reits, and favoring junk bond income seems driven at capturing boomer Id (and corresponding fees)

    I am a fan of the modifed, which is similar to my own except no targeted EM and at my age I dont have a meaningful allocation to any bonds yet. My portfolio is currently 7 asset classes 20/20/20/10/10/10/10
    VTI, SCHD, AVUV, VXUS, DFIV, AVDV, and VNQ.
    The only noteworthy aspect of the portfolio is the use of SCHD...not becauae of its dividend stats. I am using it as a stand in for a combination of several factors in the US equity space.

    Im not a fan of holding metals but agree with you about just going gold if the intent is to hedge inflation. If shtf so hard that gold is a good holding, ld rather own ammo and batteries

    Why did the chart comparing the Modified Gone Fishing (vs. original Gone Fishing and vs. S&P 500) end in 2021?
