He fears getting in trouble for doing that._ *[2.}* _Harry (Joe Pesci's character) had been INSIDE their home DRESSED AS A COP. Kevin would have absolutely NO WAY of knowing whether that uniform was fake or not. SO how can he call the police if one of them might be the guy trying to steal from and/or kill him?!_ So yeah... while stupid _objectively,_ from _Kevin's perspective_ he made the smartest decision possible! ...and luckily it worked out.
In the movie, doesn't Kevin also steal a toothbrush from a store or something? Then he runs from a cop because he thinks he's going to be arrested for shoplifting

Kevin was afraid of the cops because he stole a toothbrush, and the fact that he "made the family disappear" was never the reason why he didn't call the police. Kevin recognized the "policeman" in the bandit only when he had already met them, there was no reason why he would think that other policemen were dangerous to him. Calling the police was originally in Kevin's plans, because he led the bandits through traps and at the same time retreated a little to the phone in the house. If he had just called, the bandits would have escaped, so Kevin decided that first he had to make the bandits tired and only then call the police. And Kevin tried to call the police, but the wires in his house were cut by bandits, and I didn't see Kevin hesitating at all before trying to make a call. The moment when Kevin was afraid of the cops was only when he picked up a toothbrush, and no more.
Hell yeah man I'll check it out. Hope it's as good as the game is. Most movie/game adaptations don't work out but I've got a feeling about this one....
I've watched quite a few John Hughs movies. And I've come to one conclusion: John Hughs is a PSYCHOPATH. All his movies feature recklessly menacing kids as the protagonists, and the antagonists are normal people who do not treat the main character as more-special-than-everyone-else.
