- The Nikon Z6 is a full frame mirrorless camera that came out of nowhere. Its completely shocked me with how great it is and to be frank I wasn't planning on buying it.
But I did buy it and have decided to sell my Sony A7iii to keep the Z6 for a few reasons! Lets talk about those today!
Its really great.

In your custom setting, C3 is the power off delay, change your your stand-by timer to no-limit and that will let your display stay on indefinitely
OMG you’ve just become my hero! I found it and fixed it. Thanks so much! 👍👍
Lilio Camere C3, not C2 on a Z6.
@@PhilThach Hi Phil, you're right, apologies for the typo
@@TheEverydayDad I just wanted to type it in the comments but saw that it was a video of 1 year ago ;) And that someone else allready helped you. I just tested out the setup from Nikon Belgium with the z6, atomos ninja V and smallrigg. And I loved it! I think I'm gonna get also a zhyuin weebil S for follow shots and commercial work and wedding things ;) But looking forward to use it next year!
What about auto focus tracking in video - is Z6 okay or can tracking be improved later with a software update?
A firmware update just came out for the Z6 to improve the auto focus and added EyeAF. I'm sure there will be more updates to come.
This is the BEST REVIEW I'VE SEEN!!! I value ease of use over everything too!
Just picked one up and OMG........It's crazy awesome
love you bro
regards, Rick
Stay tuned for next year's video update titled : why I switched from the z6 to the a7s3 followed by why I switched from the a7s3 to Panasonic.
Next year? Psh probably more like 3 months amirite?
All Cars United butt hurt much?
All Cars United 😆😆😆
Yeah, thats why right now, I dont care what camera I get. I just want to know which lenses would be worth investing in.
It's a year now.. Seen that video yet?
I'm totally with you! I have a z6 on the way, and what Nikon has done with firmware 3.0 is amazing. I have lots of Nikon glass and I'm looking forward to using it on the z6 with the FTZ. The autofocus has gotten fantastic, I had a chance to try it out with wildlife and it was spot on - birds, squirrels - I was 18 for 20 shots in focus, I'm I only had the camera for a couple of hours. One tip: If you are out tracking fast subjects then turn off the exposure preview - it makes autofocus really fast, right on par with the A7.
I’m a canon Fanboy since Eos 50e and i just bought a z6 today , i shocked myself 😂 it’s the very first time for me with a Nikon but i really think i will no regret !
In May there is an update that adds eye af external video raw and support for cf express card 🤯🤯🤩🤩
RAW ?
I love your reviews, and this one in particular since I´m actually trying to decide between the Sony A7III and the Nikon Z6 (among others) it´s amazing, I love how clear and straight to the point your expositions are. I only wish that you also covered the photography side of the cameras that you review, that coupled with the way you approach your videos will make them the perfect comprehensive reviews. Keep up the good work and stay safe!
Kevin C. González go with the A7iii bro for better camera qualities this guy is just nit-picking in this video
What accessory do you need to power the Z6? (5:38)
" it's like Nikon watch all my videos and knows exactly what I want thanks Nikon" super hilarious bro I love you videos and every time I laughed I give it a thumbs up
Well thanks so much! 😁👍
I did an XQD to SD card adapter research a few months ago (I'm an engineer) but it would never fit in the XQD slot and the write speeds would be kinda bad (~80mb/s tops), plus it would be very easy to corrupt the data by just switching off the camera before the writing has fisnihed as to achieve those 80mb/s you need an extra buffer in the adapter and the camera won't have a clue when the writing has finished. For all these reasons I gave up on the project as none would like an adapter that sticks out of the camera and possibly corrupt your footage each time the camera shuts down.
Dang, that would have been so awesome if it would have worked out though.
I used the adapters they were selling around when the FS7 came out, when XQD cost you about $5,000 per TB in 64GB chunks. That was about 5-times as much as my SD's I had. XQD's are a lot more reasonable and available now, which is great. The SD adapter option was clunky for video but worked okay for stills.
When I got my Z6 in I tried the adapter with my V90 cards. Works much better, but they made them a little wide, or maybe it's the little thing on the left side. So, I was wondering if you know a new source for them, as I can't find them now. I would like to use them with my fast SD cards, now that I have more cameras that need XQD. Still will save me a lot. Let me know where I can get adapters if you know a decent source. One person on FStoppers said there was some law suit or something against one of the companies making them, but I wouldn't think that'd stop Chinese sources.
@@TheEverydayDad - Great video, and I agree, they need to either lower their prices on the XQD's or allow others to make adapters again. When I use the V90's I am getting about 195-290 MB/s, or 2,000 Mb/s, or thereabout, making it as fast as I needed on my FS7 and Z6. I judged by the file sizes and total time to write and clear. The speed varied with files and compression or not. I got about 145MB/s to 380MB/s with the two XQD cards I have still. I am not sure where that engineer gets 80mb/s (megabits/second), as that is really totally old SD tech he must be working with. I am not an engineer, at least not a professional one, but I got a BS in CS in college. But I can tell you that the layering and other differences in the NAND memory are minimal, and the I/O was trivial enough that the adapters were cheap when I can get them.
If i can figure it out, you can figure it out! Love that approach
Do you say that the z6 autofocus can improve with upcoming firmware updates?
Francesco Signorini Video yes they can
Thought hard about going to Sony when I decided to go all in on mirrorless cameras. Went with the Nikon Z6 because of the touch screen, the XQD card ( much faster, more reliable and is compatible with CF express which is huge) , but the kicker was my many years and $ of Nikon glass that works seamlessly with the Z.
Great video ! How long does the Z6 battery last you ?
Can you do low light test of A7III vs Z6 vs EOS R ?
question - does the autofocus still work with external monitor in 1080p mode?? if yes is it without any issues or crippled in any way? thanks
Great video! thanks, which monitor do you use with the Z6?
What camera did you use to record this video?
The z6 👍
@@TheEverydayDad i like the fact that it was not missing focus
I’m holding out for that Panasonic S1 before I make a decision. I currently use the GH5 and 5DM3, and Canon EOS R is in the lead if I had to buy a FF mirrorless.
Really good camera-- especially for Nikons first mirrorless. I just checked out a friends for a trip I took. One little issue with a few pictures that wouldn't copy to my hard drive but man does that mirrorless system make shooting easy. I may get one and get rid of my Nikon D-SLR soon. Weird connector for storage though. Just wish I could use all my old lenses but it makes sense now.
Thanks Dad, Im excited to receive my unit soon...
Looking at the z6 and the xt3, in terms of ease of use and quality of performance, which would you choose for a serious amateur?
For video? I’d probably go with the xt3, it has a more mature eco system and a fantastic autofocus system 👍
@@TheEverydayDad for general photography do you find the AF system on the xt3 easier or more complex to use than on the a7iii or a6500?
I use my cell phone for photography sorry 😁
Call me a Sony and FUGIFILM fan boy if you like. My personal feeling is both these companies lead the way in Mirrorless cameras. I shoot mainly with my a7Rii and a7ii but for video I love my Xt3 and sometimes I use my Xh1. The last Nikon camera I bought was the D7200 great camera but very bulky and that’s probably the last Nikon I’ll purchase. I personally prefer the colors I get from Sony and FUGIFILM vs Nikon.
just a couple of points. USB C can charge at a variety of voltages. It might well be that the nikon charger requires a higher voltage to charge the camera if you are using a powerbank try something that can charge a laptop like PowerCore+ 20100 USB-C from anker. The XQD cards are awesome. though wait till the Cfast cards are supported. You wont ever fill the buffer again on the camera. They write out at up to 1000mbs. The other advantage of XQD / Cfast is that they are genuine. No Chinese rebranded knockoffs. The form factor is more robust too.
Also just announced by atomos is the ninja V will support prores raw on the nikon zed 6 with 12bit raw and possibly a higher resolution up to 6k which is the sensor native resolution. Firmware update required.
Yeah I talked to the team at atomos and Nikon during CES and they blew my mind with the prores raw. It’s now not even close between the Z6 and the other cameras.
Which camera did you shoot the video with?
6:53 it does mess up the internals, MarzBar Vlogs has messed up his mic jack a few times
C3 will give you your power options. another great tip is to set the shutter release to video when in video mode. (its in G2) this way you can start and stop video with the WR-R10 remote kit or other trigger
How's the battery life compared to the A73?
Or you could just set the shutter button to record on the A7III 🤷♂️
😉
Also you can change the sleep time in the pencil menu on the Z6.
I did change that but even afterwards old habits die hard 🤣🤣
You can set shutter to record on theZ6 as well.
You realize you are about the only person pointing out the headache that the ports are especially with the tilty flippy screen. Love the ports on the Z's - nice review.
I love my z6.
I currently main body my z6 with the ftz adapter for my 85mm 1.8
And second body a nikon d750 with a 50mm
@Eddie Walker PR if u need to choose one??
Wow, what are you filming on??
I just bought the Filmmaker’s kit , diving straight in don’t have much experience with videography but would like to get into looks like I made a good choice
If Nikon puts a flippy screen like my D5300 it would be more desirable. I really can't pack an extra monitor system as it's another mouth to feed in my pack. I manual focus the D5300. The Sony AX-53 just works great but people don't seem to like camcorders on YT. Kinda strange but true. LOL!
I’ve got one on the way and I want to see how current camcorders work 😁👍
What's the best camera for pictures??? That's all I car about.
Greko Bully Kamp depends if you’re looking for full frame or not, if your shooting portraits, landscapes, night shots, etc. and your budget.
Coming from a Nikon myself (5100 and 5300) the A7III was a HUGE change for me (and not just by price) compared to these, but the one thing that I just loathe about the A7III is the meny. Both Nikon and Canon have very similar and also very easy menu systems to just scroll through and that from this video continues unchanged except for the touch functionality. Now, I might loathe the menu but i can get used to it, but i do hope that in an update down the line they might revamp the menu system to something similar as it would make things easier, however the bigger thing that bugs me the most was that I was getting into time lapse photography before switching cameras, so to fine that the only timelapse was this crappy S&Q thingy on the sony was a big letdown.
True, only an intervalometer stands in the way and there are tons and tons out there from highly priced gizmos like the Miops and Pluto to neweer and a lot of others in the lower price range, but at least the one I got from Alpine Laboratories (A Spark unit) does not work on this either despite them claiming it does.
But for those that have the a7III and miss this feature, Sony IS addressing it and its coming in an update in a month or so according to their own press release (its an update to a7r3,a73 and a9 on various issues) so things are going to change.
Touch functionality on the menus isn't too important for me, but would have been nice and I think that it shouldn't be to big of an issue for sony to change that either if they get around to it.
But those are mostly the things i don't like about it. I haven't used it that much yet, but I do love it. The ability to shoot 4K or FullHD 120fps is gold and giving spectacular pictures in the dark is gold for me.
Note: If you buy the Z6 Kit with the Moza Air 2 you need to connect:
NIKON Z6-->Micro USB to Type-C Adapter-->M3C-Micro Cable-->CAM CTRL port on Air 2. The CAM CTRL port is on the side of quick release plate, next to 7.4V OUT.
I had a Z6 as a rental and I believe there is a setting like "External record control" under the HDMI menu that should help with the going to sleep thing. Again, that is with limited time on a rental, so I could be wrong :)
How much recording time does the 64gb xqd get you?
You didn't mention about the battery backup of Z6 in any of your video?
I don’t think you’ve made a bad decision long term but personally I use the A7III over the z6 because the lens selection is pretty good (though expensive)
And that’s absolutely a valid reason and choice 😁👍
ben wonderful a
Where is the histogram after you captured the image like in dSLR?
I'm know you can have a live histogram.
Nice vid by the way.
Just came across your channel! It is a great one! One question please: How to you monitor your exposure on the screen in video mode. Can you display the histogram? Or the EV +- scale? At 2:57 none of them show. And I am wondering how you accurately gauge your exposure. A screen alone is basically not reliable enough.
Since I’m always in front of my camera i use false color on my monitor. But there is a histogram on the z6 👍
Thanks for putting together all the useful videos comparing the different cameras. I just wanted to clarify something that's somewhat misleading. You mentioned on your last two videos about the Sony A7 III (vs the Nikon Z6) that it has a crop factor when shooting video. That's true but only when shooting at 30fps frame rate and above. To make full use of the full frame sensor and not have any crop factor (or pixel binning), you MUST shoot at 24fps frame rate on the Sony A7 III. I know there is a lot of debate on which frame rate is best but for cinematic style videos, 24fps is the most ideal since that's the same frame rate used for movies. Just remember to use the proper ND filter to keep it at the recommended 1/50s shutter speed for the right amount of motion blur.
Yep and I said that very thing that I record everything in 30fps so there is a small (almost meaningless crop) when shooting 4k.
EDD if you get a chance try the lowlight AF it's supposed to be pretty bad.
I like the warm tone in this vdo. By the way, you gonna make the Sony fan boys overheat. LOL
Switched to the Z from Canon myself. I echo your comment about the mount. The Z mount rocks! The widest and shortest. It’s just a matter of time for Tamron to release the Z version of their 28-75 zoom. Oh by the way, nice skin tone...oozes the Nikon color science...!
That would seal it for me if Tamron did that. You may find because it's a bigger mount they'll be able to make it a 24 70 instead tho and the size won't be to big.
I really wonder why Nikon didn't put an SD slot in there. I know they talked about two XQDs making the camera too big, but couldn't they have snuck an SD in there alongside the XQD? Everything else looks very convincing though.....though as an owner of F-mount glass I'd like also to see Nikon do a version of the FTZ adapter that doesn't have a built-in tripod mount because the one that's there will almost inevitably interfere with camera body QR plates.
I got big hands and already I can see both of these cameras are not going to fit. Both cameras look great.. I just wonder which one has the better battery grip.
Yeah but what lens do you use for video on the Nikon? They're SO EXPENSIVE
The ProRes RAW output from HDMI certainly will be a desirable feature that the other brands can't offer until they completely design their cameras with faster internal bus and cards. Only the Z Nikon cameras were designed for the higher bit rates from the start.
The reasons I got a Z6 as my first mirrorless after years of D850, 800, 7000, 90 and 25 years of Canon film before that was the build quality and the Z mount lenses and what that offers in the future. Everything on the Sony was cheapened to make a low price point so they left out pro grade cards, weather resistance and quality connectors, jacks, sockets etc. It is as if they build them to last only as long as the new model cycle starts. My friends who shoot Sony have had 3 different a7, the longest any kept their camera was 9 months. Nikon users, and Canon for that matter, invest in a body and tend to keep them and they last. I just got back from a trip to Turkey and because of the weight, size limits for carry-on, my only camera that could meet the restrictions was the D7000 and a fast small prime and was very happy with the results, since after years, works and looks great despite 230,000 shutter count. My D800 has 338,000 shutter count(no burst shooting all single composed frames) and used under harsh conditions. I got back from Turkey and decided to get a mirrorless for travel and as a walking around camera and tried to keep an open mind, checked out Fuji XT3, Sony a73, and a few others but the only one that fit that long term keeper criteria was the Z cameras. I got the Z7 although it was more than I wanted to spend. It was great but the 46mpx files, although stunning were just too big for a casual camera and I already had the hi res covered by the D850 and D800 for the studio and event work. After a week arranged to swap the Z7 for a Z6 plus the difference in cost made up with Z mount native lenses. Great choice, love it, since getting it, it has been with me everywhere and it is well beyond my expectations. The Z mount S lenses beat my large expensive F mount glass for wide open sharpness corner to corner, with superior contrast, lack of distortion. The 35 is likely the best 35mm on the planet. The 24-70 small zoom, is sharper and faster focusing than my 24-70 2.8 G and E versions that cost 3 times as much each.
The XQD card was an added bonus, super reliable, fast, durable, the only pro grade card currently available. No SD card equipped camera can be considered pro grade. The Z cameras are the only ones designed for the super fast CFExprress cards that 3 companies are releasing this spring. Comparing CFExpress to SD is the same as comparing the SSD drives to 5.25 inch floppy drives in speed, reliability and durability. That is a big failure on Sony's part, using cheap parts to get the price down. Leaving out weather sealing is a more serious threat to the investment in Sony. It is not just rain but high humidity and corrosive atmosphere or dust that it is not protected against. None of the environment caused damage is covered under warranty. There are too many well-made brands out their to cheap out and buy Sony. Panasonic, Fuji, Olympus, Canon and of course Nikon are all better built to last far into the future and handle common hostile environments like outdoors shooting in changeable weather or near the ocean or high humidity.
Have the Z6 and love the F mount adapter. I have nikon glass that I don't have to get rid of.
What, really??? Are you still on the Z6?? How did I miss this! As a Panasonic user with an A7iii for photography, I’m curious to use this Nikon
Made the jump to mirrorless with the Z6II bc I already have a lot of Nikon glass. A good low-light camera for wildlife photography. What I don't have is an endless budget to delve into a new line of glass with a Sony or a Cannon or a fuji. Plus, the Z6 II is getting a lot of good reviews less the lack of native glass which is OK for me as the F2Z adapter is a lot cheaper than new lenses. Nikon will get caught up in native glass within a 1-3 year time frame. I purchased the Z6II as a companion to my D500 DSLR DX camera. I plan to shoot wildlife with the 200-500 5.6 Nikon zoom which is currently on order. Nice video
what camera are you using for the video in the first part of the video at the beginning of your talk please, and the lenses please!
Great video, I would like to switch from Nikon DSLR to the Z6 BUT I need to keep reminding myself of my number one rule "buy used"
You can find them used on BH all the time 👍
Stefan Nantz what about the shutter count thing?
With the Atamos Ninja V, can it record 4K 60fps?
No it cannot
lol
vloggers talking about their need for 4k 60 and 10 bit 4:2:2.. hilarious
Ikr? They need to get the most dynamic range and color depth out of their living room and couch lol
He can easily just use his Samsung phone and record in 4k , by far. 24p best for vlog . NIKON bought him.
then? does it wrong? hahahahah I think you need a mirror to see the reflection of yourself. they are camera review, and this video is made for educational purpose, why you teach yourself to see some parts only? haha there's a lot of positive sides you need to see and learn

the 24 70 f4 is going to be smaller than the 24 105. not sure why those were compared
Are these units provided to you by the companies for review or do you buy them?
I have an agreement with bh photo. They send me cameras to try out which I then send back. (I mention this in the beginning of every borrowed camera)
Instead of sending this one back I purchased it from them.
Are you doing a review of the Nikon z5?
Do consumer camcorders such as the Sony ax-53 have a place in this world now?
I haven’t used one before but they do offer a lot of advantages over these big sensored cameras. I’ve got an nx80 on the way that I’m going to try out over the next couple of weeks 👍
@@TheEverydayDad Wow, just googled that one. Have fun testing that one but thats way too much $$ for a very much non-professional-shooting-home videos-type of consumer, in my opinion. However and to your point, would be interesting to see how the IQ compares to a full frame, apsc, and 4/3.
I’ve been caught up in GAS for a while. I’m on micro 4/3 now and will look at the G9 but this camera is interesting to me (sans current lens lineup). Weight and size is a major factor to me. At the end of the day, the artist holding the paint brush is what matters most. That’s where I’m focusing my effort.
Micro four thirds is great too, there isn’t a bad choice out there right now for cameras 👍
I agree with a lot of these Sony issues and I shoot with the A7Riii. I may switch to the Panasonic S1R if Sony does not focus on the small things that matter like body ergonomics, flip screen, touch screen, better sealing and better firmware updates that offer value to existing customers. I'm waiting to see what they offer with the A7Siii to see if any of this changes besides spec bumps.
It’s going to have to offer a lot now that the Nikon is about to support pro res raw 😳
Dude I couldn’t agree more! I freaking love the camera!!! I’ve been having problems with autofocus though. Haven’t been rock solid. I need to figure out the best settings for it.
I disagree about XQD. I love the format! They are MUUUCCCH more reliable cards than SD and I love the clicky feeling I get when I put the card in. Also they are the fastest cards ever so if Nikon ever does 10bit internal (which they told me at photokina they will hopefully do next year with a firmware update) then the XQD can support it.
You forgot to mention the ibis!! It’s so much better than the a7iii is!
Yeah I’m shocked at how good the z6 is, I can’t believe what Nikon was able to do here.
I don’t mind XQD as a format I just wish it wasn’t so expensive to get into. It’s a big sturdy card and I feel confident in it, but I only have one due to the price.
Either way it’s great and this is the first camera I’ve wanted to own all the lenses with 🤣👍
The C-AF is much worse on the Nikon though.
@@dr.sommer5069 For video the Nikon autofocus is as good or better than the A73 from multiple test. In photo the Sony wins at least for now. We will see if Nikon can do firmware update to the photo autofocus like others have done.
@@danielvilliers612 look at peter gregs video of the nikon video af. It sucked several times.
SD is not that cheap if you want high speed.
Do you know how to keep the z6 on i'm trying to use it as a webcam and I have a battery adapter in it?
You have to use the official little adapter and it should just work continuously 👍
The Everyday Dad the cheap one I bought for my D850 works in it just fine however in the z6 the camera falls asleep after 5 seconds unless you push the record button as you say in the video, did you ever find a solution?
Yeah you can change that in the custom menu to not turn off. And I think you have to buy the specific power adapter for the z line of cameras. It’s pretty lame.
I see, you wouldn’t know off hand what the setting is called in the custom menu I’d like to try my luck before I pull the trigger on the adapter, thanks a million.
Good news it works with the cheap one 😁👍🏼
How about battery life? Great review though...
For me the best camera of the year is still the Fuji xt3, but this Z6 looks promising. But like there is that stupid trend among manufacturer to not give us a flip screen, well both of those camera are kinda dead to me (although apparently you can use your phone as a monitor with a fuji app, which sounds interesting). Still hoping for a a7s iii with a flip screen for 2019 or a fuji xt4 with....wait for it....A FLIP SCREEN!! Nice video Bru, keep up! :)
Can you record video in aperture priority mode with the Z6? And can you change the aperture during recording?
Yes to both 👍
The Everyday Dad wow awesome! Thanks for the fast reply!
I still laugh at how people gave the EOS R a better time than the Z6. Nikon are more than back in the game. Just want an APS-C Z mount camera and I am ready to switch as well💯👏🏿
I mean I do like the EOS R, but I don’t like the sacrifices that have to be made for the camera. My mind has been straight blown by the z6.
If you’d told me earlier this year I’d end the year with a Nikon camera I wouldn’t have believed you 🤣
@@TheEverydayDad do you shoot your CZcams videos in 4k?
Because the tilt screen and dual Pexel af , and pro native lenses , easy perfect colors.
Bilal Izaddin noone uses tilt screen, AF is awesome in Z6 as well, you can use alle the F-mount lenses (which are awesome) with FTZ adapter, color difference is not valid if you shoot RAW. Easy.
I use Canon and the EOS R is a steaming pile of crop.
I have the D750 and lenses for this and it should be a no-brainer. I dont do video really but want to learn a bit ..But .the image quality is the thing that keeps drawing me to Sony. The discomfort of price/selling and learning...plus the Nikon's ease of use and the ergonomics are what keeps me wavering too...I would love to just have a go with an A7iii just to see what I thin. Apart from that I think you make very valid points.
i did go from d600 to a7iii and dang i dont regrett at all.
how is the low light video on the Z6?
same question ?
Interesting video. When this Corona Virus Crisis is resolved (and I am back into a job) I plan to buy a Nikon Z6 (with the 24-70 F4 Kit lens) plus an adapter for my Nikon F-mount lenses (plus a few XQD cards , spare batteries and battery charger).
As a CZcams content creator myself, the Nikon Z6 will be a great addition to my camera gear.
Z6 or sony a7iii best ?
I don't have a Sony or a Nikon, but I can definitely say that the most important thing here is the Z Mount. Along with Canon's RF mount, both will catch up to Sony pretty soon whilst being able to produce pro level bodies. To simplify, in the near future, Canon and/or Nikon will own the Mirrorless FF market (If everything goes well). Those 2 mounts are the most important thing. The rest is just added colour.
I want to see the pro res raw i hope it come out soon
Hey, I am shocked to why you didn't go with the fuji xt3?
Yeah it was a tough call. I like them both an awful lot and I like some features of the Fuji way more then I like the Nikon. What did it for me in the end was the mini hdmi and the Nikon lens selection. Fuji lenses are great but I feel there isn’t much room to grow.
My reason is the XT3 especially is fidgety to switch from photo and video and back because of the settings and dials design. I know there's a silent mode work around but that just not quick enough for me.
You might not be a pro photographer or videographer but your content and quality of your channel is very helpful. And I'm a filmmaker specializing cinematography and videography and always can leave with a takeaway due to your content. your Awesome and I get it and thanks for sharing your thoughts on both these cameras.
Looking forward to that 12bit prores
kinda saw it coming, could see how head over heels you were over the z6 lol, the magic and allure of |Nikon is hard to resist!! especially now with excellent video capabilities
Yeah I’m continually impressed by the z6 each time I use it 👍
@@TheEverydayDad i love the z6 design, very modern and sleek. Not just a regurgitation of classic slr design. The inverted top LCD is such nice clever touch
Yeah I really like how it’s laid out and I think it looks pretty sharp.
I'm Sony shooter and at first I thought it's some kind of a paid clip, but you made really valid points - Z6 is a great camera. Use what best suits you :)
Well thanks so much! Yeah both cameras are great, it just depends on what you want out of your gear 👍
Questions:
1. Will the Nikon run for hours without overheating ?
2. Does autofocus work while recording externally. It seems my g85 will only autofocus when recording internally.
3. Is the HDMI clean output ?
1. It works with the external power accessory but I haven't tried hours.
2. Yep, this was shot with an atomos ninja v.
3. Yep, this was shot with an atomos ninja v.
Its really awesome!
The Everyday Dad interesting. My g85 won’t autofocus unless I’m recording internally, and my gh5 is so damn unreliable for autofocus.
Yeah I like both of those cameras but there is a reason I went with the z6 👍
should i buy canon sl2 or the canon m50 or something else???
It depends on what you need your camera for.
@@TheEverydayDad thnks
Thanks man 👍🏻
Dude, you’re an entertainer 😂
1.1 and 1.2x crop can be significant, unless you mean 1.01 or 1.02 in which case, yeah it's not that big of a deal. Where the Z still falls flat (still after about 2 years) is third party lens support and AF tarcking, which the Sony has going for it. If I was still doing video, I'd still consider the Sony over the Nikon. Yes the Nkkon has the option for ProRES but honestly, I'd take a larger lens selection (both OEM and third party combined) over the few features of the Nikon (and I shoot Nikon and have the Z cameras, but they still trail Sony and now Canon--after Canon's R5/R6 releases).
Companies may get into CFExpress but I think XQD itself is probably a dead end. Obviously CFExpress is meant to replace it, and I am glad that the Nikons now support it, but for the average person, regular UHS-II SD cards are more than plenty, especially if you're shooting stills in single-frame mode. The people that really benefit from XQD and CFExpress are people doing video or a lot of high-frame rate shooting on a high-res camera like the Z7 where the speed of the cards will help reduce the chances of the buffer filling up. But that' being said, I'm glad at least they didn't decide to do a single SD card slot on the original Z6/Z7 otherwise I would have said no to those cameras. XQD and CFExpress cards are more reliable, robust, and durable so I'm OK with the single card slot, but only because it is of the XQD/CFExpress type and NOT SD.
Of course the Z II bodies now offer XQD/CFE + SD which is good for people who don't want to buy XQD/CFE cards right away, they can continue to use their SD cards, although they won't have the option to do overflow or backup to a second card (which makes me wonder why nobody has developed even a microSD to XQD card adapter).
Nikon z6 or nikon d780 plz reply
I'm shocked you don't own a Sony remote (RMT-DSLR2) Get one!
I don’t have a Sony camera anymore but when I get another one I’ll get the remote 😁👍
Does it have a flippy screen? 😜
EOS R?
Sell me your a7iii
😁
A triple comparison with the Canon EOS R would have been nice.
The a7 3rd generation bodies have the exact same tap to follow autofocus.
Great friggin video
But A7iii has one major advantage: the availability of a fast, all-purpose, silent, excellent AF, relatively compact, and most importantly, affordable FF zoom lens: the Tamron 28-75mm f2.8
If thats the main advantage of the Sony I'm going with z6, barely even use the autofocus on my current cameras D610 and 1DX
Sony has amazing autofocus - the Z6 with their native lenses is also completely silent - both are 5 stars now when it comes to autofocus - I've tried both, and one thing I notieced right away was the viewfinder in the Z6 - it's next gen compared to what's out there. Also Sony needs to take notes on how to organize menus and UI for users. I'd say Canon and Nikon have that nailed.
the tamron 28 - 75 2.8 will also come out for the z-mount i heard!
where do you get this message???
@@wikedwhich1 I read on nikon rumors that the 70 - 180 is rumored, so it makes sense that the 28-75 will also come
Looking forward to the "Why I switched from Nikon to the A7000" video...
Yep, if it’s a better more efficient camera for my workflow I’ll consider it, I’m not married to any single brand.
... jep, or switching to canon or to fuji, ah, no wait: to panasonic FF. Or maybe to the a9 II or the a7s III. Hm... 😂 ... Professional photographer have to make a choise, in what system they will invest. Not like youtuber, who use new cameras without meaning. 😏
@@caldera878 because they haven't released it yet? I know a lot of people were expecting it before Christmas. But just because they didn't doesn't mean it's never going to see the light of day, that's a little hyperbolic don't you think? In fact Sony is the reason that all these new cameras are being turned out so quickly. Before Sony went full bore you would be lucky to see a new release every 2-3 years.
I can tell you this, when the new Sony APSC comes to market (most likely in the next few months) you can bet it will have been worth the wait.
Doesn't exist and why would Nikon FF / ML users switch and lose money, why would a Z6/Z7 user switch brand and from a FF to an APS ?
Why I switched to potato camera
Совиет руссиа CCCP sensor has that retro 240p look that Bolsheviks died for
If you go to my first video it was actually recorded on my laptop!
Wow that’s awesome! The best camera is the one you have and the one you are comfortable using 😁👍
@@TheEverydayDad I have a proper camera now bit switching to the Hero 7 its more handy
