  • the most winningest Shelby Mustang of all time and the fastest (184 at Daytona in 1971). Also known as the R Model. Driven by Charlie Kemp. Sold for 983,000 US dollars at the RM auction at Amelia Island this year. Also, the mechanic who worked on the car in period told me that this car unofficially reached 9200 RPM on the dyno and was hitting 8400 RPM when it when 184 mph at Daytona.

If I could go back in time I'd go to 1965 and buy myself a Shelby GT350R before or after having taken the Carroll Shelby racing course that was required to own one.

Bro I read the description and if I'm not mistaken that means the car was going at almost 800 revs less than what it hit on the Dyno, so that could mean the cat could have gone more than 184 right ???

@@alexander1485 that's a bummer, just 3mph shy of hitting 300kmph. But still the fact that they acheived all of this with a pretty standard 'secratary's car' Mustang is quite amazing on its own.
Ps, cool video bro, keep up the amazing work. Hope you get the chance to film more amazing cars like this.

@@nemindagamage9186 This is before people really knew about drafting, im sure a few more MPH could have been gained had that happened

Sounds a little noisy-jk! Does anybody know why the rear glass is shaped that way?

It is either lexan or plexiglass. Lighter weight.

It's to relieve the interior air pressure inside the car at race speed. Rear windows in these cars are known for blowing out!
