  • In this video we are taking a look at the RB 04E Anti-Ship Missile. I recommend that you watch the Navigation System Basics video first, as the weapon systems of the Viggen heavily rely on the navigation system.

    One thing I had issues with until I found the answer on the forums was: if there is a single ship; make sure you have STD mode selected, not Grupp. If you have grupp selected the missile will fire, but fly right by your target and not track. This is intentional, as bad as it might seem at first; if there is a main target being escorted by a group of ships, in STD mode your missile will ignore the escorts and instead focus on the main target.
    It took me a while to figure this out... I thought if you had selected VALB and there was only 1 ship it'd just go for whatever it finds, but nope, it'll ignore it all together.

    Great video, thanks for the tutorial. You're straight to the point, which I like. We in the sim community tend to ramble.... lol. But your method is simple and to the point while not leaving out the details.

    Nice tutorial. Did help alot. The manual is not very helpful. Thank god for youtube tutorials! ;) I managed to get it to work with single ship selected. Groupwise both missiles didn't go for any ship at all. Not sure why.

    Hi John, nice video! I don't understand the options in the mission editor, do you know if there's a critical option that you need to save? My rockets go all over the place :P.

    • @xxJohnxx77
      @xxJohnxx77  Před 7 lety

      There should be anything that is creating problems by default. Did you try to fire them in the single target mode? That should igonre all the other settings and send the missile towards the best target. Also make sure the target is more or less directly ahead of you when firing the RB 04, as they might not have a standoff capbalitiy at all...

    Is there any way you could upload the mission you made for this and provide a link? I'm particularly bad at making missions in the mission editor, and haven't had much luck improving at all in 1.5.6, so whatever you have would be greatly appreciated

    • @xxJohnxx77
      @xxJohnxx77  Před 7 lety +2

      Yes, if you expand the descprition you will find the mission file for this particular scenario!

    Thanks for this video it's awesome.
    I've download your mission but when I open your mission file with mission editor impossible to watch the boats target. Is it one bug ?
    When I use your mission I can watch and destroy all your boats but not in the mission editor.
    My DCS is 1.5.6 "Stable" version from this friday.
    One idea ? Thanks in advance. Skull.

    • @xxJohnxx77
      @xxJohnxx77  Před 7 lety +1

      Hello Skull!
      The ships are set to "hidden" in the mission editor so that they don't appear on the F-10 map. On the lefthand side in the mission editor there is a menu called "Unit List" (above the red "x"). If you open that a list of all units inside the mission appear, one of them being the Viggen, and the others being the ships. The ships will have a "HIDDEN" status next to them. If you double-click the "HIDDEN" message, the ships should become visible inside the mission editor.

      @skulleader Před 7 lety

      xxJohnxx thanks for your answer, continue your videos because it's really an incredible tool for learn more about the Viggen.
      Thanks again, Best regards. Skull ;-)

    so 9 is the input number for target waypoints, is there a value for setting Bx waypoints, (RB-15 waypoints), so far looking through the manual I havent found anything

    • @xxJohnxx77
      @xxJohnxx77  Před 7 lety +1

      No there is non such value as the BX waypoints are seperate and you can't directly convert them from the B waypoints.
      To select them, hit the BX button on the waypoint panel and then the number button on the input-panel (and not the B numbber buttons). Then you can either input coordinates or move them with the radar T0/TV Fix.

    Great Videos! Maybe you can help me with a little Problem. I have fired 2 RB04E on a Russian war ship. Seconds from Impact the Missles were shoot down by a protection System of the ship. Any idea how i can destroy the ship?

    • @xxJohnxx77
      @xxJohnxx77  Před 7 lety

      Well, use more missiles by using more Viggens (either AI or player controlled). Unfortunatly the only thing you can do, as the defenses of the ship are exactly built against incoming anti-ship missiles.

  • @rogerdebelg
    @rogerdebelg Před 7 lety

    hi there, quick question, when you look at the loadout manager for the viggen you have two versions of the rb04e, one normal and one "for ai", is this an important detail? thx in advance

    • @xxJohnxx77
      @xxJohnxx77  Před 7 lety

      Yes, the "for AI" is only for computer controlled aircraft. LNS/Heatblur had to do that because of some DCS limitation. As a player you always pick the one without the "for AI" Tag.

      No, I am not sure about the exact moment you are talking about (time?) however, release parameters are based on MSL.

    • @TestPilotVirtual

      MSL hm what you doing if you fly 1000 MSL how you release if you have 50 feet radar alt. Fly like a sumberine ?
