  • The passenger side axle has a intermediate bearing that fits into a carrier bracket. If corrosion sets in between the outer race and the carrier bore, this becomes stuck and nearly impossible to remove. Watch for a quick tip on how to break the bearing free and remove the axle. This applies for FWD Toyota Highlander and Camry with 3.0 and 3.3 liter V6 1MZ-FE and 3MZ-FE and also for Lexus RX300 RX330 ES300 ES350

Thank you! I wasn't quite to the point of tears, but knowing where to soak and apply pressure really helped! I didn't need a "clutch fork", or whatever you called it, I just used the pry side of the lug nut wrench the car came with :)

I worked on a 2015 lexus rx350... basically me and two other techs tried hammering them out.. ended up using a torch to heat up the carrier part then it cam out with a single hit. Now, im just going to do that for now on.

Frank . another tip i want to give it to you is, there is a bolt hole straight under carrier bearing bracket (M10-1.25 - 14mm head). just use any bolt and crack the bearing .. it wil budget the outershell of bearing and you can take it out. look at 2.22 timeline you can see that bolt hole..

Hm I will try that next time but does not sound like a good idea on a axle that you plan to re-use.

This video helped me out. Although, now I’ve got the bearing moving and a chisel stuck on the back side so I can’t get a clutch fork in there.

Use a brass drift and hammer the bearing out the rest of the way.

Trying to find the bracket that is shown in video. Any suggestions? All the brackets that seem to be available are missing the ears that attach to the mount on the frame.

Oh really. How about the knock sensors, or... the thermostat housing.

But in general not so difficult to work on this car. Except for replacing the rear valve cover.
