- This is a video inside the closed down Nestle Fawdon factory in Newcastle. The site was built in 1958 by John laing for Rowntrees at a cost of 2million pounds, it is 26 acres and had 22 ovens when first built. Since 1988 it has been run by Nestle and been a major employer in the area, they made fruit pastilles, rolos, munchies, yorkies, smarties, and caramacs here. (caramacs were completely discontinued by Nestle at the end of 2023). The factory has now closed down with all work moving to plants in Czechia, Poland, and Bulgaria, with a loss of 475 jobs in the North East. The site has now been bought by Country Style Foods, who are a baking company with over 150 years in business. What a crazy explore this was, sneaking around with a few workers around in my hi viz, getting stuck in the revolving door, to casually walking past the security and waving, as if I'd just finished my shift 🤣🤣 I smelled like sugar for a good few hours afterwards.
My Mam used to work here in the mid 60's. It was Rowntrees back then. One of their manufacturing lines was Jelly Tots. She would bring home the misshapen ones deemed unsuitable for packaging. Even now at 64 I feel queasy thinking about them. Ate too many too often. 😂
@sjm6963 shame its gone, I can still smell the sugar
This makes me very sad that they did this. I will miss this Nestlé factory, and all its sweets.❤

The factory moved to Romania ☹️
Love your videos but I am worried you might get arrested some day.
It's OK, I know the law, I don't break in, I don't carry tools.... its civil trespass
That's good to know.@@geordieurbex2200
The muppets upstairs closed this place down. Couldn’t run a bath the management. Absolute clowns
Just sending all the work to Eastern Europe, half the costs of employing British people
It’s went down to Halifax I’m sure or York the factories down there, little bit to Europe But to send the product back here madness man. I worked there. Was run into the ground, graduates upstairs with zero common sense trying to impress with terrible ideas
@timetravelerCH Yorks been closed for years,
Where did you hear this ? It’s open still, 20M investment 2 years ago very much still open im almost certain
York is still open I’m sat in the changing rooms now lol I work in the kitkat plant but the old building is now closed
