Maintenance dredging at Gansbaai using a DOP150

Maintenance dredging at the harbour entrance and marina of Gansbaai, South Africa, has been executed by a DOP150. A DOP pump is a hydraulically-driven submersible dredge pump, designed and manufactured by Damen Dredging Equipment. The dedicated sand pump is attached to a wire crane, positioned on a pontoon which makes relocation of the instant dredger practical. The video shows how the DOP digs in, creates its own mining pit with sand tumbling towards the suction mouth. The sand is deposited at the other side of the breakwater.
