  • Part 4 let’s dig into cheap mods for altered performance. What works and what doesn’t
    We are going to modify the 2 stroke zeda firestorm 80 cc on a Nell Lusso
    Welcome to ColdStart Garage De-gens and Derelicts!
    -We will modify the exhaust to increase performance
    -We will remove and replace on the stock head with a high compression head. It's a BBR STAGE 1 head gifted from Dave from coldsmoke
    We always have fun. do we gain MPH or Lose MPH? We definitely Gain TORQUE!
    leave comments. I read every one and may do what you suggest. have fun guys and be safe out there!
    These are the words about the head BIKEBERRY.com
    "A Head That Will Increase Horsepower and More
    With the added BBR Tuning Billet Aluminium High Compression Cylinder Head you'll get more horsepower and better cooling out of your engine. With this head you'll increase your compression, which in turn will give you more power. More power means more torque and a little added speed, which is perfect for riders who climb hills or face inclines. Its deep heat fins and low profile will allow your engine to cool off faster and stay cooler when you're riding.
    Don't be stuck buy part after part you don't need. If you've got some hills to climb or you just want a cooler running engine, the BBR Tuning Stage 1 Bicycle Engine Kit is made for you. Just bolt on the head, install the motor on your favorite bike, fuel it up, and you're ready to ride"
    **PART 5 is in the works- some more tests on this so called "high compression" head**

      If the combustion chamber volume is smaller, then yes it has a "higher compression!" How much of an increase depends on the size of the new volume vs the old volume!

    With higher compression, you can raise the exhaust port and still have more low-end than stock while getting more top end power. The pressure differential is greater with higher compression and it does most of its work earlier in the stroke. The mixture burns faster, so retarding the spark and running higher octane is needed. I shaved my head, 148psi, ran 91 and my spark plug began to glow after about a minute of high rpm riding. I didn't retard the timing, but raised the exhaust 2.5 mm, and widened it 4 mm. The bike was quick but blew up 50 miles later.

    You should have just left the end out of the muffler.. Why bother cutting off the nipple? You only gained just a tiny amount more hole diameter size.. Just take the whole entire end out.. Then in the future you still have it in one piece if you want to put it back in. You know, like if you decide to sell the bike. It will be complete, not all cut up.

    • @user-kc2ru5xo4k
      @user-kc2ru5xo4k Před 2 lety +1

      Sparkplugs are rated in temperature ranges, two different sized plugs with the same temp rating will perform exactly the same. people use a small sparkplug due to a lack of space in terms of engine fitment, that is all. For example - going from a NGK B5HS down to a cooler B6HS is a good idea when you fit a high compression head due to the increased operating temperature associated with increasing the compression ratio.

    That particular style of so-called 'high compression' head is rubbish - it may raise the compression ratio providing the squish band is reasonable but they are utterly crap at cooling the engine. To draw heat away from the cylinder and the rest of the engine you'd need mass in the head to act as a heat sink with plenty of fins to allow air flow to release the heat.... Now just look at that bad excuse for a head you have there ! I wouldn't have even wasted my time swapping it on ! If you're going to upgrade the head to raise the compression as well as to aid cooling, then go with one of those cnc billet type that's got plenty of body ! Don't forget to change your sparkplug as it's now gonna run hotter due to the increased compression.
