We have been there....Seneca Rock! There are so many beautiful places to visit in West Virginia! Take me home country roads. Rich in history and very beautiful state to go RV traveling. We walk trails and drive roads. I often imagine what the explorers thought as they came through the Appalachian mountains. The Cumberland Gap, Seneca Rocks for example would be so intimidating trying too walk your horse and or family through. ✌🏻
Mountain Man Music I think the same way!!’ Especially anyway in the Appalachian Mountains. (Alleghenies are apart of the Appalachians) it had to be scary.

sad to say but i was in seneca area a month ago or so and the upstairs restaurant was shut down and now seneca caverns is shut down as well that area depends on tourists and this summer it just wasnt good
I was at Seneca Rocks early this past summer. I didn't go upstairs. Everything else was open. It might be that they can't find help. It's never that crowded, even before the lockdown. I've never understood why it's not booming. Probably because it's two hours off the interstate, and very few restroom opportunities. I haven't been to Seneca Caverns. I sent them an email during 2020 to make a video there, but they never responded. I'm not sure they've been open since before the lockdown. I don't know what's going on there at all. Thanks for watching Dallas!
@@dallasdavis3246 That's about how far we live from Seneca Rocks. Chimney Rock on North Fork is different but equally impressive. Seneca has it beat, but only by a little. There's no water that part of North Fork. There's a little more scenery at Seneca. But Chimney Rock is really cool. I got at least one more hike in me on Seneca. I want to hike the other side instead of the one everyone else hikes.
Hows the climb to the top part of the rocks? Is it more of a 45 degree scramble or does it involve any real climbing? A friend wants me to go i just want to make sure i understand the risk. If its stairstepping some rocks thats fine but if theres any sketchy climbing maneuvers with height i may skip it.
The trail isn't too bad at all. At the very top there's a little bit of light scrambling. The main thing about enjoying the top is staying alert, and not getting too carried away with the view. The view, the rocks, all of it it's surreal. I advise people to use a "three points" of contact rule in situations like that. There's always a risk when scrambling, or climbing, but for me it's worth it. I'm was in my mid to late 40's while making this video, and I did fine. And I wasn't that healthy at the time. (It would be easier now as I'm in much better shape.) But I can't think of anything to compare it to that would help. If you go through our West Virginia Playlist, I think we made three other videos there. One of those videos may give you some additional insight that will help you make a decision. I hope that helps. The truth is that you can hike the trail (which is very nice) and there's a platform with an amazing view. You can choose not to scramble at that point.
@@syanide9122 I hear you! I gotta admit, it's kinda scary up there. If I was younger, I probably get myself killed up there. But by the time I get to the top, I'm too tired to walk around that much!
I love Seneca Rocks it's the last of the rocky outcroppings that used to be the rugged Appalachian Mountains. Great video thanks Bill and Caroline
Wow, what a great video. Great job. Love the mountains.

West Virginia is highly under rated. People can't understand why I spend so much time there. I think it's a no brainer-
I totally agree!
