Lawrence (Benicio Del Toro - who also starred in Sicario, Guardians of the Galaxy and Snatch) is talking to his father (Anthony Hopkins - who also starred in The Mask of Zorro, Silence of the Lambs and Meet Joe Black) inside of their burning castle. Sir. John Talbot explains the power of the werewolf and shows him that the moon is full. They both turn into werewolves and start fighting against each other. Sir. John Talbot, the more experienced werewolf, takes the upper hand on his son and manages to bite various times his son, who screams in pain. They roll around fighting until the father takes his son and troughs him across the room. The father jumped on his son, that protected himself using his legs, and manages to trough his father on the fire. Screaming in pain, the father looks at Lawrence, which cuts off his flaming head. Gwen (Emily Blunt from A Quiet Place, The Devil Wears Prada and The Huntsman: Winter's War) arrives shortly after on the back of a horse, and but is surprised to see Lawrence in his werewolf form. Abberline (Hugo Weaving) protects her, and she leaves running, with the werewolf not far behind.

What’s the “The Wolfman” movie about?
Lawrence Talbot's (Benicio Del Toro - who also starred in Sicario, Guardians of the Galaxy and Snatch) childhood ended the night his mother died. After he left the sleepy Victorian hamlet of Blackmoor, he spent decades recovering and trying to forget. But when his brother's fiancée, Gwen Conliffe (Emily Blunt from A Quiet Place, The Devil Wears Prada and The Huntsman: Winter's War), tracks him down to help find her missing love, Talbot returns home to join the search. He reunites with his estranged father (Anthony Hopkins - who also starred in The Mask of Zorro, Silence of the Lambs and Meet Joe Black).
He learns that something with brute strength and insatiable bloodlust has been killing the villagers, and that a suspicious Scotland Yard inspector named Abberline (Hugo Weaving) has come to investigate. As he pieces together the gory puzzle, he hears of an ancient curse that turns the afflicted into werewolves when the moon is full. Now, if he has any chance at ending the slaughter and protecting the woman he has grown to love, Talbot must destroy the vicious creature in the woods surrounding Blackmoor. But as he hunts for the nightmarish beast, a simple man with a tortured past will uncover a primal side to himself one he never imagined existed.

I love this movie a lot
No doubt. It's my personal favorite werewolf film of all-time! And I've seen them all.
The way the practical effects did an awesome job making one werewolf look a lot older than the other is outstanding, and also the body movements in the fight tell a lot about the characters. Lawrence is younger, bigger and stronger, but John has been a werewolf for much longer and has accepted his beast, which gives him more control and faster movements in combat.
I loved how Hopskin's looks kind of human after his fur was burned off. Makes me realize that if you burned off their fur they'd still retain most of their human appearance.

At most they provide formidable incarnations on the werewolf character; yet none except "an American werewolf in London" can be considered objectively worthwhile. Not to mention that quote at the end goes for everybody. All history begins when one is born. You profs tried to be witty by deeming the youthful generation as kids who don't understand quality because their so young, whereas it makes him seem quite unknowledgeable & bogus when his interpretation of "history" cannot seem to exceed his own nostalgic attachments.

It's always the person that thinks that that ends up getting their head ripped clean off their shoulders by the person they think that about 🤷
For 80s its wolf but for 20s its like a big foot
in the originals of these Laurence Talbot in one film eventually does get cured of his affliction it would be good to see the same happen in a remake
But they used a scientific approach to explain his curse, and that kind of ruined it. What makes it work is keeping it entrenched in the mystical and supernatural. If they were to devise a cure, it would have to be along those lines.

This is one of my all time favorite werewolf movies right behind American Werewolf in London, Underworld Franchise, Wolf and Ginger Snaps. Also The Monster Squad.

This scene was actually chopped apart in editing, if you watch the full scene a lot of it makes way more sense. Plus I mean werewolves do have super strength, it'd make sense for a hit to send someone flying (which happens when Lawrence punches one of the guys hunting him when he first changes)

I can't explain how much I love this movie ❤❤, this is movie is something else....
Esse filme tem um dado muito legal e quase imperceptível. O Lawrence Talbot viu o pai na forma de lobisomem matar a esposa. Mãe do Lawrence. Essa afirmação fez o Lawrence garantir para si uma estadia de um ano no hospício. Em dado momento o menino percebeu que pra sair do manicômio, só precisava negar toda a verdade. Deve ter sido nesse momento que virou ator.A atuação do Benício del toro,foi chamada de contida. Mas não é verdade. O Lawrence Talbot é uma pessoa contida. Foi o mecanismo de defesa que o manteve são e fora do hospício. Mas no íntimo o Lawrence sabe que não é louco. Ele não imaginou nada . Ele sabe o que o pai é de verdade, mas finge que não sabe. O pai sabe que o filho sabe ,mas finge que não sabe. A uma tensão constante entre pai e filho. Parece estar a ponto de explodir a qualquer momento.
