I love how Oversimplified always shows unrest as someone kicking a garbage can over
somebody should do a compilation lol
Or some random explosion because someone fell over
Funfact: In Austria there was a Demonstration a few years ago and one guy was suit for reerect a garbage can during the the Demonstration.
Boy Marx is right on the mark about late stage capitalism. Can you say 6th mass Extinction? Also due to a few large media Empires controlling our formerly free press the Military Industrial Complex need never worry about being raked over the coals like the Pentagon Papers or Snowden, Assange or Steven Donzinger who is the Hans Linton of our time. Again
There's a rather famous clip of an Antifa knocking over a garbage can that this could be a reference to. I'll see if I can find it.
The best thing to do is watching the original video first then come back to see this.
I was studying for a chemistry test, guess my studies will have to wait
I watched the video right as it came out xD

@@rhoninwindrunner7575 ah, so it's a pun? As in Bolshevik meant "Majority/big idea" where as Menshevik meant "Minority/small idea"? That's actually rather cute/clever.

One of my favorite quotes has always been "Those who make peaceful revolution impossible will make violent revolution inevitable" and it consistently comes true throughout history.
For me, looking back, the lesson has become that 'the guys who carry out violent revolution are entirely unsuited to governing the state they create'.
@joshuamarvin7400 George Washington and the founding fathers would seem like an excellent counter point to that. Just saying I know this was like 2 years ago so... sorry
@@trevorbirkbeck4011Wouldn't they technically count towards it since Britain in this case was the one who made peaceful revolution impossible, forcing them to make it violent?
@@trevorbirkbeck4011The founding fathers didn't begin with violence. They used protest until the Boston Massacre, after that they chose a war. They knew how to influence people through peaceful means and how to win battles, Lenin just bounced in at the right time.
Most of react videos are just stupid, just seeing the guy on the video laughing and doing exaggerated facial expressions. But Mr.Terry, you are best. You give extra information, opinions and some interesting stuff. You make actual content.

My history teacher in my sophomore year world history class equated the Russo-Japanese war as a varsity team (Japan) going against the freshmen team (Russia).
Edit: ok so I'm seeing the replies, and thank you to everyone for the correction. It's been awhile since i heard the analogy so I got mixed up on it.
I don't think that's very accurate. It would imply that the Japanese had experience and prestige on their side, which they didn't. The Japanese war machine had yet to be tested against another large and relatively modern military power, and both sides were testing their capabilities. A more fair analogy would be like Russia being a WW1 era biplane vs Japan being a WW2 fighter plane.
@@youtoob4life Yeah, but a Sophmore class isn't really gonna get that analogy, because they don't A: Understand planes that much, and B: the analogy is suppost to help them understand it by equating it to something they know and understand, now, the correct form of the analogy would be Russia being a varsity team and Japan being the freshman team, because it would be just as shocking to see a freshman team beat a more experienced varsity team as it was to see a major European power like Russia being beaten by a "tiny" (according to Europeans) island nation that's only recently modernized.
Wouldn’t it be more accurate if was the (Japan) seniors varsity team going up against the freshmen (freshmen)? Or would freshmen need to be replaced with sophomores?
I would say no. No one thought Japan would win, this was the start of their Imperial era.
It's actually the reverse
Hey man, sorry I'm late. But I actually subscribed for not just Oversimplified, but as a fan of History as a whole. You remind me A LOT about my own high school teacher back in the day. By the way, I’m happy to see people tackle Russian history as a Russian and a history buff.
My grandmother is a history teacher herself and she had a lot of choice words about Nicholas II for being a weak ruler.
Fun fact: Witte was actually granted the title of a count after the peace treaty with Japan and since, according to the treaty, half of the island of Sakhalin was given to Japan while the other half was Russian territory, Witte’s enemies mockingly dubbed him Polusakhalinsky(Half- Sakhalin) to parody beautiful surnames granted to nobles by the monarch.

So is the lower half of Sakhalin also included in the unsigned peace treaty between Russia and Japan over the Kuril Islands during WW2?

Random Nordic fact of the video 1: in Denmark there’s a tower called goose tower, and it got that name because the Hansa declared war on the Danish king at the time, who responded with: 77 chickens and 77 geese doesn’t matter. and then he put up a golden goose on top of the tower. Afterwards there were a couple of wars which has their own weird stories.

I don't know if you're even gonna read this, but I seriously want to thank you for your reaction videos. @Politikal I dropped my phone out the window and now I can watch it on the big screen.
So Alexei haemophilia was likely worsened by his mum. She had extreme anxiety, but Rasputin helped her a lot. Nicholas once said something like 'it's better to have one rasputin, then for Alexandra to have another of her moments'. So rasputin calming Alexandra, likely stopped her from making Alexei panic and worry, which would've raised his blood pressure. Add the fact that the doctors were giving him aspirin, which has a side effect of being a blood thinner, amd its probably safe to say he only had a mild case of haemophilia, but everything around him made it worse

Actually Stolypin was really cool guy. I know here he has been portrayed as some maniac , but you need to understand the scale of violence. You know Russia is a big country and back then was even bigger. And some region went completely rogue , in some areas criminals took power and it was a mess. So Stolypin brought military courts and stabilized that regions. Plus his reforms were great. Thanks to him russia avoided famine. And eventually he became so popular he started overshadow the Tsar , so Nickolas released him from duty
Bet that made Nick REALLY popular
Btw Stolypin made Stalins mass deportations look timid.
transylvanian well I can only advise to check out the reason why he had to execute such harsh measures
transylvanian it wasn’t because he was blood-thirsty monster like Stalin ot hitler
transylvanian no you are wrong. Read some resource . When I mean criminals and rogues I mean criminals and rogues! Not some local political movements establishing some autonomies. Imagine the regions where murders robberies and rapes are the common things because of lacking of federal forces . That’s why he had to act like this.

Tfw the Taipei Rebellion was partially responsible for communism being a thing.
One thing I was taught about the Russo-Japanese War was that both nations were lucky it was a mostly naval conflict. The Battle of Mukden saw Russian infantry Ura charge into Japanese Hotchkiss guns and Japanese infantry Banzai charge into Russian Maxim guns. Most foreign observers noted the butchery of such attacks and how it wasn't proper European battle etiquette. The German observers noted the effectiveness of machine guns against infantry and cavalry in the open...
Nicholas may not have ordered the massacre of the peaceful protesters, but that was clearly his intention.
Nicholas may have been incompetent, but even he knew the outcome of sending troops to address a protest, no matter how peaceful.
Execute the officer who gave the order.
@@0816M3RC Did Nicholas do that?
In a little over a year, mr.terry has made it into the top 5 of my favorite history channels just by saying "and I get it"
What Nicholas II should have done (in my opinion):
- Instituted a bunch of labor laws that benefitted the poor and rich
- Make sure taxes were lower for the industrial sector than the agricultural sector, so that Russia would start its industrial revolution
- Make the monarchy constitutional and set up a parliament so that the workers would be able to make sure the country was ran well
There might be more, but that might have saved Russia
Ooh
transylvanian but then Joseph Stalin took control and then.....
@transylvanian Under those reforms people would still have more money than you, and let's face it, that's what really fires you up 🤣
@transylvanian ok 1) the labor laws I mean are limited health and safety ones, like don't have workers going round food production plants while they are coughing and spotting all over the place
2) the low taxes are meant to incentivise businessmen to industrialise, not to equal things out
The show is called “90 day financé” :) also great channel! I appreciate the added insight!!

There’s a fantastic Russian phrase that I feel summarizes the Russian revolution and the transition to communism very well. The rough translation of the phrase into English is “we thought we had hit rock bottom… then we heard a knock from the basement”.
