    Hi buddy, I'm a welder from Russia, and I also use a blue and purple lens in my work with a gold fixed lens. My eyes do not get tired or hurt when working with large amperes on the pipeline. This is a very informative video for beginners. I speak and understand English a little and can translate your video to my colleagues. Good luck and bless you, Lord.

      @@evgeniikorolev5167 спасибо за ответы. Если не дождусь снятия санкций на торговлю, придётся свою делать из стекловолокна или карбона) В продаже конечно есть пассивные есаб, кемпи, еверматик, но хочется и такие классические формы в руках подержать

      it's the blacklight. if you put a dark cloth behind your helment blocking light from behind, you'll not see any flare. solution is to use panncake hood outside.

    If I dont use the magnifiers, should I use another plastic cover plate in place of that behind the drop in magenta lens?

    • @thenorwegian5744
      @thenorwegian5744  Před 3 lety

      I would use another plastic or glass cover lens. The magenta is really expensive and should be protected. Good luck. Thank you for asking a question.

  • @NikeaTiber
    @NikeaTiber Před 2 lety

    Seems to me that you are adding a lot of weight with all the clear glass you are stacking in there, for not much benefit. Glass shatters, so even with an ansi rated polymer or monomer cover lens in place (front+ back of stack) I'd worry that the schrapnel from the glass would cause additional problems. Uncoated single pane glass isn't a very good thermal insulator, either.
    I think that a spacer to separate your adf or filter plate from two stacked cover lenses accomplishes what you want with less weight, it's what I do in my hoods that can accommodate a thicker stack. I used to run clear glass as a part of my lens stack as well. I get a lot less neck fatigue now that I've taken them out, but I work 12 hr shifts so ymmv on this. As I recall each of those clear glass filters is about 2 ounces.
    I always run a cover lens behind my adf or filter stack regardless of whether it is installed in a flip or not.
    I also use a magenta filter behind any filters that are greenpass. Definitely helps with puddle contrast and definition of the weldment. Don't really need it with the modern neutral adf's, though. I've got a techniweld clairvoyant in my pipeliner flip and it is a better adf than the lincoln 2x4c for less than half the price. A few of the inexpensive 2x4" adfs out of china are actually *extremely* good for the price (if you aren't opposed to buying Chinese goods), the tuefwei in particular.
    The german passive glass you've got is either aulektro or svar. Both are still available though you might have to search around a bit. Both are untempered schott glass made using the float process. This results in noticeably less visual distortion vs the tempered filter glass commonly available in the United States, but they are not rated ansi Z81 shatterproof- so be sure to use a Z81 rated lens behind it as well as in front.
    I agree that the old flips are a lot better than the new ones- smoother and better lens retention. Pipeliners Cloud carries the old style spring steel fibre metal lens retainers, for what it is worth.
    CMR fabrication makes + sells a really nice flip lens box for sugar scoop and pancake hoods. Accommodates a very thick lens stack and has great lens retention. Has detents to hold it in the up as well as closed positions. I think it is a great bit of kit. A flip front hood is the original grind mode.
