Actually cutters can be different. CMT's are usually 7/16 deep. Also, if you use a larger bearing, you can do 2 cuts and don't have to hog it all out at once. Those freehand panel raising episodes can be a bit hairy particularly on a large panel. Good idea about the tabletop.

Boy I'm not a safety nut generally, you have to be reasonable, but that wide open, spinning bit makes me way too nervous. If that bit ever grabbed some flaw in the wood and threw that door...

I know this is an older video but where is your push pad? Only saying this because of me being 2 finger tips shy of what I was born with doing the exact same thing. Not if but when the wood decides to grab and jerk back, you cant react fast enough trust me. I never knew what happened until after turning the router off and looking back to see where the piece went to. Then realizing I was missing 1/4'' of off two of my fingertips. Safety man. Safety
