Gravel roads are fine, but you have to deal with dust. Mud can be a bit trying at times. I guess the natural aspects is what makes it so beautiful. You can have the main roads or paths paved.

I'm unapologetically Afrikan born in America. I currently live in Atlanta, GA. I've purchased direct beach front property in Accra, Ghana in 2018 at $30k per plot. I have 2 plots. I recently began building a small, private beach resort guest house with a restaurant, beach bar, wellness center, with tourism. Two years ago, if you bought beach front that is a 10-15 minute walk to the beach, the land was $18k per plot. Today, in 2020, a plot of direct beach front property is $100k or more per plot, and away from the beach is $50k or more per plot. I'll be visiting the Gambia, Senegal, Sierra Leone, and Liberia in 2020 to hopefully purchase beachfront property to duplicate my Ghana business. I thought the same. I lived in a small town in Gabon for a while and people leaving large items on the side of the road occurred all the time. It might look like trash but it belongs to someone. You generally know what is trash because trash heaps are unmistajable.

Instead of paved roads, they could try gravel roads. Gravel roads have been used in rural Arkansas for generations. Gravel prevents mud and being stuck when rain comes, and it give you that natural organic effect, not too much beyond dirt.

Can you not purchase the shipping containers at the Gambian port? Most used shipping containers can be purchased directly from the ports. Have you checked into that? We planned on building guest houses for our familiy on our property when we purchase.
