  • BRICKLAYING - How to build ANGLED BRICK CORNERS

    I am a retired bricklayer, and this method results in a weakened corner. Bricks are meant to be fully interlocked for the best strength. I have seen many corners played in this fashion result in failure. Also I would be adding ties every second course for added strength

    👌🏼done a few walls like this but try to avoid it . On the connys we used to mitre the corners and have a straight joint and load it with tie wires , then we progressed to squints 👌🏼🧱👍🏼

    Thanks Rodie for another great vid. I love how you make your viewers top priority. Most channels show "Look what I can do". You seem to take the "Look what YOU can do" approach. I've did this one time and had to cut mitered face slabs for the pigeon holes per the customers request. Didn't want to spend the money for specialties and wasn't having the pigeon holes. He damn sure didn't like the extra I added to the price for the pain in the ass cuts 🤣🤣🤣. Thanks again for everything you do.

    I’m not a bricky but am learning so much from you. A question tho. Could you grind the angles into the bricks so you can butt them up together but with the 10mm perp joint ? Because as you say it doesn’t look that good but also going off you mentioning that when building you need to ensure half bond in most ways to lay bricks, this way doesn’t look very strong🧐🥴 sorry if this is a pointless question

    • @RodianBuilds
      @RodianBuilds  Před 4 lety

      You can cut the corners and butt them up. I would advise doing this because it looks much better than this method

    So glad I found your channel today! I’m attempting to build my own shed and I’ve learned a lot from you today, thank you. Also trying to figure out how to do angled corners as I’ve one side 4 meter long and the other side 2.5 meter long and they will be joined by 7 meter wide front and back. The front will be square but the back wall will be angled. So confusing!

Next day can always bricktor or wire ties over top of them as extra strength when building them. Cement straight joint with ties don’t look good. Your way shown is best was without cutting them or getting specials as you say small cement fillet so no water gets trapped in. 😎👍🏻
