  • Hey guys welcome to the Best Team For Kanto. In this video I take 6 Pokemon that would do the best throughout a Kanto journey. These Pokemon all do really well against they gym leaders and elite four members for that specific region. Of course though that's just my opinion leave your team of 6 pokemon in the comments section below!

      I somehow remember myself taking on with my level 81 Feraligatr with Cut, Hydro Pump, Waterfall and Crunch and somehow beating the Elite 4 in Soulsilver. I was around 11/12 then. I am 20 now and am playing it again, I really have a hard time beating the game, lol. Only difference is that my playing time then was around 120 hours and now around 9 or something.

      I tanked Crystal version with a Feraligator and a couple of HM slaves.
      Years later I learned the duplication glitch in Pokemon Red and I completed my little challenge of beating the Elite 4 with nothing but a Level 100 Charizard.
      Bonus story:
      The first time I ever beat Pokemon Red. I was about to fight the Champion but my main Charizard was out of PP. I replaced Fissure with Flamethrower just to have the PP to complete the fight. It worked, but I lost access to the only Fissure TM in the game. That's the same cartridge I used to fill the Pokedex and become a "Pokemon Master." The save battery has to be dead by now but the memories will last.

    • @OneBiteoftheCherry
      @OneBiteoftheCherry Před 4 lety +30

      @@patriciobreamartinez4095 As of current gen, poison is super effective against grass and fairy, and is weak to psychic and ground.
      Poison types can also not be poisoned which is obviously a bonus. They can generally use many different types of moves including ground type moves so it's easier to take out another poison type.
      Generally speaking, pure poison types aren't too common and are often mixed with grass types, making them less susceptible to bug moves.
      I'd say poison was very useful as a type if I'm being honest.

    If you plan on using Jolteon, make sure to level up Eevee to 30 first! It'll learn Bite, which is a dark type move (special), and it makes jolteon good for taking on psychic pokemon. So jolteon is even more helpful than the video suggests, being helpful in koga's gym, sabrina's gym, and 3 of the elite four (including agatha). If you've never tried playing with one, I highly recommend giving it a try!

    I caught a Rhyhorn in the Safari Zone and kept it as a Rhyhorn until it learned Megahorn, at level 57. Then I let it evolve into the super jacked Rhydon. That Pokemon has some pretty great stats, especially compared to Geodude/Graveler/Golem, which is the other Ground/Rock type you can find easily in the game. If you're extremely patient, you can find an Onix in Mt. Moon but they're pretty rare and you'll probably be ready to pull your hair out after running from a million Zubats and Geodudes. So, my Rhydon knew Megahorn and Earthquake (which it learned as a Rhyhorn at level 52). I then entered the Rock Tunnel from the Lavender Town side, back tracked a little and used the Move Tutor to teach it Rock Slide. It's slight less accurate then Rock Tomb, the TM you get from Brock after beating the first gym, but more powerful. With Megahorn, a super strong bug-type move, Rhydon easily took my Rival's Alakazam, who can be a big pain, and was also a help against Agatha and her Ghost/Poison types (although, unfortunately, Earthquake was no help against them because they levitate above the ground). I just wish the Safari Zone came earlier in the game.

      Onix also isn't that strong. It'll take lots of hits but it cannot perform offensively. Now, if you evolve that Onix into Steelix, then you get a superpowered ground type.

      There are better flying types
      Imo, Golem learns way better moves, if you can trade for it, and despite having many weaknesses, it's generally pretty obvious if they'll have something strong against it.
      Raichu is a terrible pokemon stat wise
      The other two are good but arcanine is not as good type wise for Kanto and Dragonite is pretty late game.

Blastoise is a really good one with only one thats better, Lapras. there is better flying, but not too many in kanto Crobat is better, but that is the only one i know of. ( except dragonite and other pseudo legendaries ) Nidoking is a good choice.
      But how come Arcanine as not a good type wise? are you also stating that every fire type pokemon is bad? or that charizard is only good because of his flying type? because in kanto there is like 4 different fire type pokemon, ( excluding second and first evolutions )

    • @Gibstack
      @Gibstack Před 8 lety

      DeadevilJr Electabuzz is better in almost every way, save for its HP, than Raichu, not to mention it can be obtained about 4 gyms into the game. (if you go out of order to go to Fuschia) and can also learn Psychic which is extremely helpful if you don't pickup a different psychic type.
      Venusaur, as proven in the video shown in this video, is a much better starter for Kanto, and also like it said, there are much better Water types in Kanto.
      -Golduck, while it has worse base stats, has better special attack and speed, which is more important imo.
      -Tentacruel has much better special defense, which is more important than defense when it comes to water types in this game, and can tank just as well as Blastoise
      -Starmie is similar to Golduck but with better stats where it matters (sp attack/speed) and a more useful typing, though it's only available in leafgreen.
      -Lapras is actually a lot closer to Blastoise as far as its usefulness, because it trades defense and sp. defense for HP.
      -Vaporeon has much better everything, except for attack and defense which pretty much don't matter for it.
      Pidgeot has average stats everywhere, which doesn't help it. Its base stat total itself isn't that great, either.
      -Fearow learns much better moves and has better attack and speed,
      -Crobat isn't in this generation, but Golbat is, though it's not that good.
      -Dodrio for the same reasons as Fearow
      -Aerodactyl for the same reasons + its rock type which can help for type coverage.
      -All of the legendary birds
      Golem learns way better moves than Nidoking, if you use Nidoking it doesn't get a good ground type move unless you give it Dig until you get Earthquake which is after the 8th gym. Also, poison isn't good on a damage dealing pokemon, which is Nidokings primary use. It does learn megahorn, but Nidoking is weak to Psychic, and grass types can be handled by a flying type, like i'll mention again below.
      "arcanine is not as good type wise for Kanto" so... yes, all fire type pokemon are bad, in kanto. Fire is only good against grass (but you probably have a flying type for this gym anyway by now) and, while Lorelei is an ice trainer, only one of her pokemon is weak to fire. (most of them are water/ice mix). As far as general typing, bug/grass is weak to Flying, and ice is weak to rock and fighting, which are both move types you can easily get on your team somehow. (Rock slide move tutor and brick break TM) A fire type isn't necessary on any team in this game.
      Again, dragonite is too late in the game to be very viable, plus it's a physical attacker but all dragon type attacks are special, so its typing is bad for this generation as well.
      So
      There are better electric types
      There are better water types
      There are better flying types
      Nidoking isn't as useful as having a different pokemon.
      Fire isn't a good type to use in this generation because it's rarely good against what it needs to be, and isn't worth a slot on the team.
      Dragonite appears too late in the game + doesn't have a good type in this game.

    • @Mudkipfool
      @Mudkipfool Před 8 lety

      Oh, yeah i totally missed Electrabuzz.
      I get where you comming from with golduck. ( but in my honest opinion i rather want a bulkier water type, but then again Gulduck har more disadvantages by having two types, meaning if a blastoise and golduck fought, blastoise would win. though that is not what were talking about )
      Tentacruel is a better defensive pokemon, but his attack pool isn't that strong, sure hydro pump is strong, but having a 5pp move isn't really suitable for battle after battle.
      Starmie is not a pokemon i usually use, although so i didn't think about it. Lapras is nice, Vaporeon lacks what i see is pretty necesary, although i usually use it.
      Fearow does have higher attack and speed stat, that doesn't make it better, mostly because having some good stats doesn't make is survivable. it's more of an high risk high reward type of deal. whiles Pidgeot is more reliable of being punished.
      If we are talking red and blue ( and green ), crobat isn't in kanto, but if we are talking fire red and leaf green he is, however you can only obtain it after the elite four. so a mistake on my part.
      Aerodactyl does give more in damage it severly gets punished by water, which adds a negative outlook on him so in theory, it's an ever bigger risk/reward scenario. I didn't count legendary bird for the reason that legendary is usually much stronger than non legendary and pseudo legendaries.
      Golem might have a better defensiv stats it cant even be near any water type. for his speed and low special defence. and that water does what, 4x the damage, aswell as grass, and even 2x ground. which is horrible in the elite four, which gives nidoking a huge adventage than what golem has.
      '' A fire type isn't necessary on any team in this game '' by that logic you could not really have anymore than one pokemon, and skip the whole team part and do it solo. not saying it is necessary, but do what you will, if i can get a growlithe fight erika for that bonus, Arcanine also learns extreme speed which is very useful, you can also learn it flying ace if you have that tm, which goes well to its attack. just because you got a fire type, it doesn't mean you must have fire attacks in your team, but to each his own.

    • @Gibstack
      @Gibstack Před 8 lety +1

      DeadevilJr Hey wait, I still wanna debate
      Fearow/Aerodactyl only have a little bit less of HP/Defenses, but can deal much more damage, which is much more worth it to me.
      For golem, as long as you don't throw it against a water or grass type, it will be fine, because the ground weakness (and other physical weaknesses) are negated by its high defense.
      For arcanine, extremespeed doesn't give it any more type coverage, and (I assume you mean aerial ace and not flying ace) can be taught to pretty much anything, and only gives it an advantage to fighting types.. but if you have a flying type, then putting this move on arcanine just isn't useful.
      Thanks mang

    For getting Jolteon don't forget to save before entering the room and getting eevee. Jolteon's movepool is really bad, and besides bite he doesn't get any other special move. (Shadow ball is physical in this game). So what I do is get a meowth early game (right after 3rd gym), he has the pick up ability and what it does is after any battle (both in the wild or vs trainers) there's a chance to get certain items, Hidden Power tm10 included. So going back to eevee, save before entering, get eevee, teach him hidden power, and if it's not the element that you wanted, reset and try again. Usually i get HP ice to cover grass and ground, which both resist electric.
    Ofc you can teach hidden power to any Pokemon, but i feel it's better for Jolteon as he needs coverage, and you can manipulate what HP he can get. If you get another one ( and you will if you sacrifice a slot just for meowth) you can give it to venasaur, as he also suffers from poor movepool coverage, and you don't get sludge bomb till after the E4. Only problem is that you're stuck with whatever Hidden Power you get, unless you restart the game. But ideally you'd want hp fire on venasaur

    3. Poliwrath - Water/Fighting
    4. Magneton - Electric/Steel
    5. Golem - Rock/Ground
    6. Jynks - Ice/Psyquic
    With this much variety you're all covered, this is the team I used in the remakes.
    Victreebel has the highest attack stats of any grass type and status powders. Charizard is fast, great special attack and can fly you around removing the need of a normal/flying type. Poliwrath is nice for being the only dual type fighting type in the region, and a decent water type. Magneton has 11 resistances! despite not having such a high special attack as Jolteon its endurance makes up for it. Golem is an electric/flying killer and packs a punch, a bit faster than Rhydon and easier to get if you can trade. Lastly, the trade pokemon Jynks, yeah Jynks. It's a great addition since it covers two crucial types in Kanto: Ice and Psyquic, you need those Ice Beams to defeat Lance and psychic is OP in Kanto.

I later traded that team to my silver game and added the red gyrados and an espeon into the rotation and had a 8 man party that rotated depending on the fight. the team eventually was accidentally deleted by my at the time baby brother and i never got another game after. until now with go. I now play with my brother who is in high school now and he is helping me track down the pokemon I need to recreate my original 6 and be ready to battle when they add it to the game.

    @HeadFacethePirate Před 5 lety

    The *only* thing I disagree with is Nidoking. He's good for early game for sure, but eventually you should (and easily can) replace him with Sandshrew/Sandslash. You can get a sandshrew before Misty, box it, then evolve it from Lt Surge and all the rock types in the tunnel to lavender.
    And since I have fun teambuilding/optimizing here are some *alternatives* depending on your preferences
    Bulba/Star -> Squirtle/Hypno (You dont really specifically need a grass type for anything other than Misty's gym, and Blastoise has a WAY better movepool as well as less weaknesses). Hypno can also be caught easily after Misty
    Dodrio -> Fearow. I know you addressed it in the video, just wanted to throw it out there though. Similar stats, evolves earlier, and gets access to one of the best single-turn flying moves earlier: Drill Peck (Sp/Fearow learns it at 37/40, Duo/Drio at 42/47. The only thing youre sacrificing is Tri Attack, which is a good move but could easily be sacrificed for the mere convenience of Fearow over the doody birds
    This is all assuming FRLG with no mods too. A whole new world of possibilities open up if you use mods/UPR to enable making "impossible"/trade evos possible in-game (will make kadabra, haunter, and machoke all evolve at 37 instead of over trades)

    My fav team so far:
    Charizard (the Flyer of the team, plus dragon claw is a nice bonus)
    Jolteon (eevee learns bite at 30, do it)
    Lapras (ice type helps immensely with lance, and very bulky, taught Psychic as well)
    Tauros (first time, LOVE IT, bulky and hard hitter, taught it Return and Earthquake)
    Primeape (fast, good attack, can be caught early, taught it Rock Slide, and Aerial Ace which was useful)
    and my fav hm slave Paras (cut, flash, rock smash). Cute and useful to have.
    This is a great team. Very solid. Just beat the elite 4 with them all at 50. First time playing with Tauros or Primeape, and I was quite happy with them. I almost always run with Jolteon. Starmie is a good alt to Lapras, and while I love it, I found Lapras much more resilient and helpful in the game due to stab ice beam. I actually OHKO lance's dragonite and couldn't believe it.

  • @TBoneTony
    @TBoneTony Před 5 lety

    I agree with Snorlax because he is a TANK.
    However for those who are able to be patient, Aerodactyl as well as Dragonite and Mewtwo are also good powerful Pokemon to play in games like Pokemon Stadium on the N64 but considering you are talking about the remakes, my guess is that you are talking more about who to play as in this game and possibly who to play competitive against others.
    When it comes to Fire Types, I would consider Arcanine or Ninetales depending on which version of the game you get but for me personally, my starter will always be a Charizard so my Grass Pokemon would most likely be Vileplume or Victreebell depending on which version of game you get.
    Though I do agree that if I was playing the Lets Go Pikachu or Lets Go Eevee version I would have all 3 starters from the original series as well as Snorlax.
    Pikachu as my special pal but then if I were to get an Eevee I would evolve that into Joltion as well.
    Starmie is really good especially when it can also learn the move Thunderbolt to give other water pokemon a shocking surprise.

      Radhika Raj what about giga impact

    • @MysticdestructionAJ
      @MysticdestructionAJ Před 6 lety +3

      My suggestions:
      Firered:
      Venusaur: Giga Drain, Leech Seed, Sleep Powder, Toxic
      Why: Giga Drain is the best stab, Leech Seed and Sleep Powder stall and help you catch mons, toxic is there just for utility, but any good poison type move will do in this slot. Tackle should NEVER be on a fully evolved mon, solar beam takes 2 turns to complete unless you have sunny day, and razor leaf is too weak.
      Pidgeot: Fly, Steel Wing, Return, Thief
      Why: Fly to get where you want, Return is a good Normal stab, Steel Wing and Thief for coverage. Hyper Beam leaves you vulnerable and Pidgeot doesn't have the defenses to take a hit.
      Electabuzz: Thunderbolt, Brick Break, Strength, Psychic
      Why: Thunderbolt for stab, Brick Break and Psychic for coverage, and Strength for moving rocks. Electabuzz can't learn Thunder Wave and Light Screen ins't much use.
      Arcanine: Flamethrower, Bite, Extreme Speed, Rock Smash
      Why: Flamethrower for stab, Bite for coverage, Extreme Speed for priority, and Rock Smash for utility. Take Down is pathetic and has recoil to boot.
      Poliwrath: Submission, Surf, Bulk Up, Rock Tomb
      Why: Submission for stab, Bulk Up for boosting, Surf for utility, and Rock Tomb for coverage. Brick Break is a TM and can only be used on 1 mon, plus Submission is more powerful anyway, and Poliwrath's special attack sucks, so ice beam is only good for mons with 4x weakness to it, same with Hydro Pump.
      Marowak: Earthquake, Thrash, Aerial Ace, Protect
      Earthquake for stab, Thrash and Aerial Ace for coverage, Protect for scouting. Rock Slide on Marowak is egg move only, Marowak is too slow for False Swipe to be of any use, and Bonemerang is repetitive.
      Leafgreen:
      Pidgeot: See above.
      Venusaur: See above.
      Everything else looks good.

    I think you can replace staryu with hitmochan as he can cover fighting moves and elemental moves like fire punch and thunder punch and ice punch and can have mega punch as support when fighting pokemon not affected by the elements.

    You can get Nidoran before Brock in the grass just to the south of pewter. Actually before you fight Brock in Gen 1, maybe they changed it for the remakes though.
