Evolving the magikarp was so hard. I literally just had him as my buddy and waited over half a year to grind up enough candies.

I was playing hardly at 2016. Magikarp was everywhere. I made like 7-8 gyardos of it, only for old method for exp (mass evolving) xD I treat him the same like pidgey and other ratatata for mas evolve. now I hjave same problem xD

Since Magikarp is a water-type pokemon, I recommend you go near waterbodies like lakes, rivers, oceans, etc. Magikarps also nest. So, try to find a nearby nest, then use pinap berries to get more candies.
