- Blocking a piston to remove an onboard sprocket can be an awkward job. On some saws you can use an impact driver to quickly spin the sprocket off.

And it will self-tighten (while operating) past that quicken CCW impact .. no need to fuss. There are commonly bundled kits for bar/chain/sprocket now for this great little saw!
I was going to put string in the cylinder to turn the sprocket like other tutorials show. Then I saw this. Worked great with my impact driver...saved me work..thanks
Yep saves a lot of faffing about.
Why does it only work with impact driver but not an ordinary drill? I tried with a fast drill but it was doing absolutely nothing.
Are there any Videos on how to do it without the impact drive?
@@sempi8159 Not that I have seen but if you use the "string" method you should be able to do it with a hand socket ratchet.

Thank you I've been watching video after video to see what sprocket to use and nobody shows you nothing
Awesome tutorial, Thank you
No prob.
Thank you mate!
Hey mate, where did you get the 1/4 pitch sprocket from ?
www.chainsawbars.co.uk/product/a556-001710-echo-cs-2511-1-4-drive-sprocket/
Do you offer a 1/4 pitch sprocket for the MS 194t? I can’t find it on your website
is that a 1/4 pitch sprocket bigger than the stock one?
Same size but running 1/4 rather than 3/8 lo pro..
Is the 1/4" sprocket for the 2511 top handle the same part as the 1/4 sprocket for the 2511WES rear handle?
Thanks
Yes they are the same www.chainsawbars.co.uk/product/a556-001710-echo-cs-2511-1-4-drive-sprocket/
Hello bud, can you tell me if the washer you put on is flat both sides? I’m getting a bit of squeal from mine!
Yes it is flat on both sides.
using an impact to do this can alter the ignition timing
How would you recommend taking it off instead?
@@jonnyhtcdesire piston stop and spark plug wrench
Do you need to remove spark plug and put in piston stop? What size socket? Thanks
Nope that's the great thing about this method - no messing about with a piston stop. The impact driver 'shocks' it off.
No you seem to be able to spin the sprocket off with an impact driver.
does the ms150 1/4 drive sprocket fit in there?
No it doesn't - sprockets from one make of manufacturer do not tend to fit others 99 times out of 100.
Why not is it rimm
It doesn't just spin off!!! Im on the verge of breaking mine trying to force the damn thing!
We have done hundreds of these - never had one stuck so you are either very unlucky or doing it incorrectly. You are using an impact drive yes? And you are turning anti clockwise to take off [not clockwise which tightens it]?
@@chainsawbars You mean the other way around,no?I saw in the video you removed it clockwise and tightened it anticlockwise.
@@chainsawbars you do mean the other way round don't you?
Jeez,,,, you gotta be kidding. You didn't advice how to keep the piston from moving up and down. You can't just simply unscrew the nut without the piston moving.
WHAT YOU SHOW AT THE BEGINNING OF THIS VIDEO "WILL NOT WORK'.
TERRIBLE VIDEO.
Around x400 sprockets removed later in this fashion... ok let's have a wager on it that this will not work?
