  • In our latest edition of One Player goodness, we're here today playing Healthy Heart Hospital, from Victory Point Games.
This is an economic simulator in which you (and up to four co-operatives) are charged with bringing a down and out hospital up to snuff, avoiding bankruptcy, law suits, and an overflowing cemetery (an unsightly and unhygienic problem).

The randomness in this game is perfectly thematic. I worked in healthcare for 20 years, and it is obviously a very unpredictable field. There are no "meaningful" decisions about what patients and how many will come at any given time.
The one element I house rule out is the training. I draw three and pick one. That makes much more sense thematically.

    Cool. Great you‘re doing this!
    Couple of minor points:
    1. I think (iirc) the +1 Ward bonus does not stack with Doc bonuses
    2. People in the Job line flip during housekeeping phase, so you can only hire them next round.
    3. When you draw cubes for healing, you only have to draw the base amount of cubes. Then you can decide if you want to use bonuses to draw more. Important tactical decision, sometimes.
    Looking forward to part 2.

Very well done video. I have the game but haven't read the rules yet, and this gives me a good framework for now going through the rules on my own. Also, I found your video pretty entertaining. :)
Very intimidating game in terms of how challenging it seems to do well. I can see why it's rated best as a solo game on BGG. Looking forward to getting my copy to the table now. Thanks!

Thanks for watching! I really enjoy the solo mode, I could imagine with 5 players things could get a bit complicated!
From my experience, there'll be a few games where luck doesn't go your way, and it'll feel like you're not getting anywhere. Then it'll click, and hedging your actions vs the cubes will feel easier.
Glad you enjoyed the video :)

Another thing bad played. When you construct a Room, you spend an administrative action, plus a medical action if you want build it with disccount.

Mm I think you are mistaken, the rules state that for one administrative action you can build or upgrade ANY area, OR for one medical action you can build or upgrade an area for which the doctor has a discount.
Two actions for one room would be brutal!
