Great video! In HS (1960's) I loved wearing my mom's old clothes from the 40's...including bits of her old Army uniforms. I thought it weird that she had no clothes from the 30's, but I learned that during the depression she had only a few articles of clothing, and those were worn to shreds. Thank you for showcasing all your vintage treasures!
Hi, Angela! I was wondering if you would do a haul of your vintage wardrobe. After watching your video about venturing into vintage fashion, it really inspired me not be so afraid about going more into vintage fashion. What are some items that you kept from your old wardrobe and what are some things that you've added either by purchase or by making? What are things that you are considering adding or would never? Hope you have a nice day!!
I dont know if it's the same video you watched, but a couple months back she did a video on purchases she made when she decided to switch her wardrobe over to vintage she went into detail on what she loved about each piece and why she regretted certain purchases. Also what she wish she had known when starting her collection
I love 1930s fashion, styles like this video in particular. It was really enjoyable/helpful to see you go through all of the steps with the buttons and closures. It's such a cute finished product - you have an excellent eye for matching colours and patterns, and matching accessories and makeup to a finished garment.
I am loving the “Sewing through the decades” series!!
fun fact! until the late 18th century, the word frock actually referred to a child's dress. with the advent of simpler fashions and especially the chemise dress, which resembled children's clothing, the word moved into adult vocab!
Fascinating!
Still loving your videos, and it's fun following what appears to be a greater self-confidence in your presentations. The touches of humor make me smile a lot while I'm watching, although I'll admit that -- being a non-sewer -- I often use these videos as background sound while I'm doing something else. It's that voice of yours.
I was blown away by your website! At such a young age you have so much experiance with complicated patterns and explaining how to put it all together and clearly have a passion for what you do. I love the textures and patters in all the materials you use, may of them I'd gladly frame and hang on my wall! But more 'simple' (well relatively simple!) designs are so nice as well, I love your coat for "1918 ENSEMBLE, DRESSING FOR DOWNTON" it looks amazing on you! :)
I’m so impressed with your sewing skills, AND your ability to figure out these very obscure instructions. Thank God that you are smart enough and practical that you make a mock-up first. Keep up the excellent work!
I have no idea what you are talking about most of the time.....but I am enthralled by the whole process...and the final results of your projects makes me soooo wish I could sew like you. I can sew but straight lines only or a button. These are beautiful and I'm so glad I found you!
i love this pattern except for the button flap i would modify it to lay flat instead of sticking out (just my preference because i hate things touching my arms near my elbow the skin is ultra sensitive) but the blouse is to die for it is perfect the material is perfect great job
Mellissa Cameron
Yes, for me, as well, that area of the arm, kind of the inner portion of the upper arm is very sensitive. I often can’t wear sleeveless or short sleeved shirts if they have any sort of raised embellishment on the bodice (especially, but not limited to, sequins) because it’s just too rough and irritating.
Haha, that was one of the things that attracted me to the design, but I get not liking it. They have a point marked where you can cut off the extension and have the buttons lie flat!
Mellissa Cameron I was thinking the exact same thing!
Nice. It's nice to see something that's not considered formal. But something that you would wear everyday.
I admire your fortitude. I couldn’t cope with that pattern. In the UK a jumper is what you call a sweater. We call this kind of dress a pinafore
Very cute frock. Unusual how they have the sides of the bodice angle out. Perhaps this was to make the waist appear more cinched.
I am mesmerized by your ability to sew such arrow straight seams by machine!
You may have found the blouse fabric a bit troublesome, but the fit and the pattern really look nice on you. It has a wonderful texture. I also agree that the frock seems a bit loose, but I don't think that detracts from the results. I especially like that you went to the trouble to acquire shoes that really suit the outfit as a whole. You look really put together, and I hope you enjoy wearing it out and about.
That's really amazing! Angela, thank you so much for inspiration you give and skills you share with us. I've watched all of your videos and I read every blogpost you issue, but I've never came up to say 'thanks". So, my best wishes to you and tons of my gratitude. Love from Russia.
Awesome. You're braver than I am! I remember doing bound button holes in an exam piece. I hated them! I'm still not exactly happy about doing them, but will if pushed. I certainly wouldn't do as many as you. Excellent video as always.
I wish o had found your channel sooner though. I inherited my nan's sewing patterns when she died 4 years ago. I donated so many 20s/30s/40s/50s patterns to charity. If I'd if known about you, I would have sent them instead. It would have been amazing to see what you did with them, and to actually see the pieces. I'm so sad I found you too late.
I don't mind them when they are wider and done with a more appropriate material...but stitching extra narrow ones with linen? No thanks! That is sweet of you to think of me - but I'm sure whoever got them enjoyed them a great deal too! :)
I love the shirt fabric despite it being awkward to sew. I love how you finish things so beautifully with bias binding. ❤️❤️❤️
I was excited when I discovered you were making a "jumper" and blouse from the '30's. I've been on a jumper making binge over past month (some success but some fails too) and I just love yours! It's exactly what I'm hoping to achieve (not necessarily '30's style for sure but in linen with thinner straps and some interest like the pleats/slits at the bottom of the jumper). Your red linen is just beautiful - such a deep hue and a great match for the dainty cotton blouse.
Omg those buttonholes! Wow good for you for following those instructions! 😅 but I do love how this turned out on you! It’s so pretty and the blouse looks great! ❤️🤍❤️🤍❤️
Do you think you could try making a vintage wedding gown? That would be very interesting to see since I plan on making my own wedding dress
I love the hint of another cooking video. The last one was a blast. All of my friends make fun of the way i speak French with a strong English accent, but i try. Now those button holes are totally new to me and was wondering how those were made. I have to watch that a couple of times, thank you for more tips.
Gorgeous colors! Love jumpers as they can be worn with many different tops!
Marvelous! Your skills are extraordinary, both in video making and sewing!
FABULOUS. SO MUCH DETAIL.
Stunning blouse, very impressed at how yo7 navigated those instructions
I hardly ever see, but always enjoy
I just got 5 1960s patterns, it can be difficult at times, but the end garment is soooooo worth it. Great job❤
Yay! Thank you for the awesome video! I can hardly wait to see the cooking video wearing this ensemble
Beautiful!! 30s look great on you, as well as the color red! 👍🏼👍🏼❤️ Looking forward to another cooking video 😊
Very pretty, both the style and the color suit you!
The fabric is gorgeous and goes so well with the patterns. Nice work!!
it's really cute! The linen and cotton combo is great for summer. i can see it in a wool fabric for winter, with a long sleeve blouse underneath.
Thank you, that is a lovely outfit! I so enjoy watching your videos.
Yaaaaassss, super excited for extra tutorial. 😁
And puff sleeves are gorgeous
Thanks Angela, I like the style very much and the result looks great.
Beautiful work. As always love.
Gorgeous and inspiring as always. I hope you're always able and willing to make beautiflu pieces like this and share them with all of us. You're living my dream, and I aspire to your level of skill.
I love the puff of the sleeves!
I adore this outfit the jumper the adorable shirt and the beautiful vintage shoes that you have paired with this. You have inspired me to want to try a vintage pattern
So adorable! You do such a great job.
Love, love, love!

I just learnt how to french seam after hearing you mention it! Its so helpful! :D
Love the color and the look....
Love the Blouse fabric. Outfit looks great on you!
Cute fabric for the blouse! I can see how it would be a pain to work with but I love the finished result! Also those shoes are perfect with the whole thing!
So beautiful!
Oooooh i can't wait to see the cooking video!!!
Wonderful way to start my week. Greetings from Finland
This looks beautiful
Love the red lipstick !!!!
it came out really cute!
Beautiful
I love this series and your channel!
You mentioned the buttons were supposed to be link buttons, but then sewed them on like conventional buttons. Link buttons are two buttons joined together with a thread bar and inserted through two sets of buttonholes, the same way a cufflink is. I don't know if you knew this ... given the faff bound buttonholes are, I don't blame you for not wanting to make twice as many!
I started sewing as a child in the 1960s ... everyone who sewed owned a "big fat sewing book" which had detailed instructions for every step in most sewing patterns. [My BFSB is the 1975 Vogue one, purchased as a gift by a boyfriend.] Patterns could eliminate basic instructions as seamstresses would refer to their BFSB for those details ... only the unusual methods would be detailed in the pattern.
The fabric you picked for the jumper looks really interesting, in certain lights it looks like wool!
Cute, love the red, super talented!!
Hi Angela, I just found your channel today and I really like it. I am a twenty year old seamstress and I love vintage clothes too. Also, I pin and gather my sleeves the same way!😋
Great video Angela! I never enjoy making button holes... but I love making 30s, 40s and 50s style clothing! Can't wait for more! 👗❤
Janelle (Melbourne, Australia)
Janelle Blossom another melbournian!
I am definitely in the right place for once in my life....just moved to MB! 🙌🏿
I love the linen you used. It reminds me of rose petals.
Love the whole outfit!
It's super cute, but I agree with the other comments about the button placket thingy under the arms. That would annoy me to no end when wearing it.
Another cooking video? Can't wait!
Love your hair in this video!
I really love your videos 😍😍😍😍
Well done x
I never thought to finish the unfinished collar edge like that! Can't wait to use the bias binding method next time.
Wow, that seemed difficult. I love the result!
Just saw the instagram post of this pretty outfit just as I got the notification for the video double the joy
YAYYYYY MORE VIDEOSSSSS 😁😁😁😁
Beautiful outfit looks great
I haven't even watched the video yet, but, THAT IS THE CUTEST OUTFIT, shoes included💜
Lovely Angrla
Great job
Wow! You look beautiful! Well done 👌😍
So freaking pretty :) it really suits you!
Very Nice!
this is a cut dress. I used to work in an antique shop in NYC that sold old clothing I love the thirties and fifties the best!
Love it!
pretty!!!
I think it very cute. It's one of a few videos I hadn't watched on you patrion page. I love red also. One of my favorite garment colors and all round color. I see that a ease into the 1940s style. Still 1930s but has a 40s vibe.
Thank you Angela ..you are beautiful
This project turned out beautiful. I also found you to be absolutely hilarious in this video. I love all your videos though.
Oh my goodness! A beautiful vintage look. You look exactly like one of those historical Depression photos :-)
Looks very wearable today and the blouse is great.
Yay, cooking video 😀
Nice-work...very-pretty!
You look exactly like Snow White. You have the face of a Disney princes and this 1930’s style dress is just perfect for you
You really did rescue the jumper! Hurrah! The blouse though, wow, so stunning! This outfit really suits you. I find the sticky-out bits kind of odd and would have made them to lie flat (I'm a really broad shouldered, busty gal, so I don't need to look wider!)
Very pretty jumper
Been watching your videos for a few weeks now and I just wanted to say thank you for having such a consistent and lovely channel. I am a beginner sewer and I love having you on in the background as inspiration. That being said I wanted to ask if you have ever heard of Jon fluvog shoes? I feel like you could rock some of his styles and make a super cute outfit that would fit his accentuated looks perfectly. Happy sewing!!
I love your creations- they are simply stunning and a joy to watch ! I was just wondering if you had any experience making reversible dresses? I would love to see a video on it..
Well done. 😁
love your sew-alongs, Angela! Great job as always :)
Thank you
I love the look of the soft red linen, it looks like velvet. Beautiful ensemble!
LI I it looks almost plush! I love it too!
I'm really impressed with the quality of it given the price! It still wrinkles a lot, but has a much nicer drape than other linens I've worked with.
LI I I'm so jealous of Americans, they have the best stores
Tres beau merci
