      Yea man this the most underrated season. Its a shame Dwight Howard, Gasol, Nash and even Kobe got injured. 2nd half of the season, Kobe was carrying despite Mike dantoni's system which literally ran Kobe into the ground. Kobe didn't deserve that. Had that Lakers team been healthy and had time to mesh, I think Kobe would still be playing and Lebron would have still went to Kobe's lakers.

      He didn’t even let Nash run the offense, he didn’t give Dwight any Touches. You have a 3x DPOTY Dwight, a 2x mvp in Nash. He had Pau meta and bunch of talent around him and they struggled all year to make the playoffs

    The only player during the 2012-13 NBA season to average 27 points with at least 6 assists was a 34 year old vet with 17 years in the league. Not only that, but Vino had a 57% TS. Those shots he was taking during this season were nearly impossible. Post All-Star break, the Lakers has the best record during that span and Bryant was putting up 29/6/7.

      Joshua Chu it was not just a question of age, his usage rate that year was high as fuck. He had to carry a team that was supposed to have a dpoy mini shaq(Dwight Howard), and a non crippled 2x MVP Nash. But they both were either injured or crapping out when they were playing.

      If Kobe was matched up with a single defender, it was never a bad shot. For most players, if a defender is playing with perfect technique pressing them, it would be a bad shot, but in Kobe's case a 1v1 matchup is barbecue chicken. A lot of Kobe's toughest attempts happened late in the shot clock, and he was the highest percentage option to score on those plays, and it's not like he was the first to touch the ball. Usually, the Lakers had already ran their sets, and it didn't work, so Kobe would have to make the play on his own sometimes to bail them out. If he passed out of a look late in the shot clock, it would probably lead to a shot clock violation, or a lackluster shooter taking an uncomfortable shot. It didn't always happen that way, but most of the time that was the case when he took tough shots.

    This video, a condensed 2012 highlight, is a really efficient reminder of just how Atlantean Kobe was that year. As we're skipped from game to game, we see a refreshed scoreboard showing the Lakers down by double digits, before Kobe makes a play that is effectively another resigned sigh: "Damnit. I'll do it myself again, I guess." And then he does. Over and over again.
    But, then at 16:50 we hear Bill MacDonald utter, "Kobe acknowledged the minutes he's been logging . . . "
    Basketball hasn't been the same since.

    • @delamo8468
      @delamo8468 Před 6 lety +1

      Kobe was used to doing that from those mid-2000s teams, everybody else standing around or shooting scared and he 'puts his hard hat on' and gets it done. This team was supposed to ease his burden physically but with Nash mostly out and Dwight injured and many other injuries he had to go into that mode too much at an advanced age. D'Antoni's uptempo offense applied to an old/injured team didn't help, but I don't personally blame him for minutes, Kobe mostly dictated that even when Phil was around.

    The most underrated season that Kobe Bryant ever played in his career. This is the last time the Lakers made the playoffs which Kobe Bryant carried them to the playoffs winning 45 games that 2012-2013 season. Kobe Bryant would have never torn his Achilles if the Zen Master Phil Jackson would have couched this Laker team. It is Jim Buss fault that the 2012-2013 season was a nightmare But of course Jim Buss got in his feelings and he did not want hire the Zen Master Phil Jackson back to the Lakers franchise. This Laker team would have been successful if the Zen Master was coaching this squad that is a absolutely fact from a standpoint that Phil Jackson is a winner and has 11 championship as a coach to prove it. At the end of the day Only Real Lakers fans and Los Angeles cats will have the absolutely upmost respect for the Zen Master is because we as huge Die hard Lakers fan and L.A. cats know what effect that the Zen Master brings to the Lakers when players who played for Phil Jackson just say it is different. The Zen Master gets his players better from a physical and mentally standpoint he proved it by him giving each of his players book to read that book had a very specific message about what certain roles the players had on the squad. Phil Jackson is the greatest coach of all time hands down.

    Lol people be equating LeBron to Jesus this year, raving about how dominant he is at the age of 33 and in his 15th season (which he has been to be completely fair) where Kobe was carrying a team in the Western Conference to the playoffs while average 27 6 and 6 at 47% shooting at age 34 in his 17th season. How quickly people forget.

Now regarding Kobe he’s my Goat & for him to be in his 17th Season & have such a year is Unheard of Blasphemy. But it was Testament to who was & more so it’s sad that’s how his Career was done. Back to lebron to be really honest with you bruh he has arguably the greatest chance at being the all time leading scorer & he’s not even a Score first mentality player.

    I remember watching this season in awe... 34 years old, still putting up the usual stats he always had, clutch shot after clutch shot. It probably hurt me more than it did him when he tore his Achilles, the dude went back onto the court, shot his free throws and walked back off. What the actual fuck was this dude on? No doubt hall of famer, top 10 player, I just wish we got to see what his next career would of been like.

He may not have the rebounds or assists like LeBron or Giannis but if he needed to do it he could. His arsenal of counters, footwork, and difficulty of shot made him the 🐐 in my book. Rest easy Mamba 🐍

  • @alvinyakitori7055

    My favorite Kobe season so many heartbreaks like the Achilles injury, the sweep from the Spurs, Nash second game injury, Mike brown fired after 8 games but there was triumphs during that season like the game against the Raptors, the countless back to back 40 point games during the final stretch of the season, the comeback against New Orleans, Dwight comeback game vs the Magic, the Kobe game winner against the Hawks and the dunk. Man such a great season ignored by Lebron’s same year in Miami and winning streak. But Kobe season had all the emotions: tears, sadness, rejoice, excitement, and that mamba mentality. So beautiful to watch just grateful to see it live and be played out even more grateful knowing how Kobe passed away with his daughter. This season will live with me forever.

    One thing i noticed about his 12-13 season is his speed, quickness and lift on his jumpshot. When you notice his fastbreaks, that was the fastest I’ve seen him run coast-to-coast and finish. Take note that he turned 34 that year and still outruns like half the league. He was so quick with his dribbles, isolation and was shifty on the post. His lift on his jumpshot was also pure compared to his last season in 2016 where he shoots and then splits his feet before landing. I have got to say that Kobe was still hungry to win his 6th chip, so sad that his team with Nash and Howard didn’t work out and it caused him an injury that urges him to retire from the sport that he loves so much because his body couldn’t take the beating anymore. And to add the cherry on top, he still willed the Lakers to get to the playoffs. We miss you Kobe and Gigi!
