Great Reaction from a voice teacher-Like it! I was an SP fan myself but since SP left for decades, I moved on and I have seen AP in person on LIVE Concerts-it was an incredible concert each time! I heard that this duet of AP and Morisette was an impromptu moment, so no previous preparation, that is why they are reading the lyrics-and what an awesome result! Simply amazing vocals!WOW!
Now seems to be a good time to react to Arnel Pineda with Journey. I recommend Faithfully from the Live in Japan 2017. He has truly come into his own and makes the song very personal. He is also over 50 so time is not on his side singing the tenor notes for Journey but he certainly makes his way through this performance with great craft.

FYI, this is the very video that Rhett Lawrence, producer of Mariah Carey, watched and was truly amazed by Morissette's great vocals that he immediately checked on her and he even went to the Philippines last Feb. 20 to watch her concert and eventually ended up as Morissette's producer as well.
Too bad Journey didnt get Arnel when he was in his twenties and thirties. He was 41 when he joined Journey and by that time his peak had come and gone. And here he is 50 years old. No filipino or filipina today (including Morisette) can hold a candle to this dude in his prime. The power, the resonance, the versatility, the lung capacity, the quality of his voice was just world class. Listen to his covers of Black Dog and Honestly.
I remember that episode they actually just put that song together litteraly on the fly. They decide on it and start songing it in a matter on minutes, hence the celphone lyrics reading.

Yes, Arnet is good enough to fool almost anyone ... he's a vocal prodigy. What his "natural" singing voice maybe like, is anyone's guess, whether he chooses to use rasp or not. Proof is to simply;y listen to his many, many clips of "Faithfully". One example. Here, he uses his rasp in respect for the original version, sung by Bryan Adams (rasp) and Mori for Barbara Striesand (sp?). From the sound track, Prince of Tides.
just an FYI sir....gregg rolie (keyboards) was journey's original singer from 1973 until they hired....yes, steve perry was hired by journey in 1977 and he did not join their trial by fire tour in 1996 because of hip injury he was replaced by another "steve", steve augeri and when augeri left because of throat illness, he was then replaced by jeff scott soto in late 2006 early 2007 until arnel's hiring that same year (2007), arnel is still journey's lead singer for more than 10 years now, the longest tenured "lead vocals" they have had.
