  • For many average basketball fans, Ja Morant just seemed to appear on the scene out of nowhere. Of course, that wasn’t the case, we learned about all the hours he spent working out with his dad in the backyard, and all the years of hard work that went unseen. All that grinding paid off and is still paying off, but there is one moment in particular, in which all the work culminated causing Ja Morant to Blow up in the public eye. In his second college season, Murray State played against Alabama, and Ja who was gaining some buzz put on an impressive performance in a game that went down to the wire. But, it was this dunk at the end of the game that changed everything. He got on the bus after the game, and his teammates told him, [yo check your phone]. For the first of many times, Ja had broken the internet. He gained a lot of attention but He showed that he’s built for the bright lights as he went on to lead his team to the conference championship, and the NCAA tournament. He put on a show with more dunks, highlights. Morant even set some records along the way, showing that he’s really him. He’s had some crazy missed dunks, but the one he made actually changed his life. it put him on the map and the rest is history.

He really did!! I love everything about this baller. I think it's his name. Whenever I hear his name there's always a highlight that I appreciate. Ball, young man, for it ALL. Much respect and brotherly love!

As a Murray State fan and student, I 1000% agree. That dunk is the exact moment he started getting attention

I remember being a senior at Murray state that year. I’d walk past him every day and his fame seemed surreal especially considering how humble he was.

Did everyone stop to talk to him and take pics of him on campus? Did he hang out at the cafeteria?

@@alexmarlow2508 towards the end of his last season people definitely took notice but he was more of an introvert. Wasn’t seen out in public unless he was with his team and never went to parties. Seemed like he spent a lot of time shooting around and at his dorm.

As Ja said he really was not on anyone radar until he do flashy dunks,
ja even tried to impress college coach back in highschool with left hand playmaking but never got any scholarship
Probably lead to how flashy he is rn though i hope his body can keep up
