    So come on share those memories of playing the game back in the day, or feel free to lament that you missed out the first time but are excited to try it for the first time 😉

    What an excellent pitch! We're particularly tickled to see the usage of so many of the tools we've developed, especially the wiki.
    Fun fact, there is now a Digital Library feature in the Gemp deckbuilder (look for the little book-with-bookmark icon) which includes a range of pre-built decks to get going with, including all the official Starter decks and as many Worlds Championship decklists as we could get our hands on.
    Great work! Looking forward to any more content you may have in the future. :)

      Thank you I'm glad you enjoyed it, well hard work deserves some recognition 😉 I think when I dusted off my collection from the loft during the pandemic the wiki was the first thing I encountered and I see you haven't been twiddling you thumbs between then and now so kudos.
      Thats good news on the digital library, the more precons people have available to them reduces that barrier to entry, I know decklists have been a bit all over the place in the past so that great.

    First card game ever tried! Even before mtg. Oh boy that game had taken my heart back then and my wallet as well 😅. I remember great times with no net decking just watching at the local stores what the others playing to steal ideas! Still remember my rohan-uruk deck! Nostalgia nostalgia!

    • @DicevsCards
      @DicevsCards  Před rokem

      Yeah I remember how popular it was, especially around the time of the movie's releases. When you look at some of the old forums you can see how much limited information was out there for a while unless you knew what you were looking for. I'm still a terrible deckbuilder for this game because my instinct is still to build free peoples and shadows parts of the deck as standalone so I can plug and play them, which is obviously the furthest thing from optimal, still it keeps me happy. Nostalgia indeed!

    Best tcg ever. Played a four player multiplayer just yesterday, winning with fellowship block Dwarves and Goblin Swarm 😃

    I just found a collection of cards today at a thrift shop and bought it based on subject matter without knowing how the game actually worked. I am already hooked on the idea of building a collection of these cards and trying to play the game with some friends after watching some videos about it. I definitely plan to specifically be on the lookout for more of the cards at thrift stores, flea markets, garage sales, etc.

    I loved this game, specifically the cards from The Fellowship era. I rocked a Moria swarm deck partnered with my Halfling Heroes. So many awesome memories.

    Great video. I bought a ton of these a five years ago and taught my sons the game. It was a great renaissance of the game in our family. Years of fun as we kept changing our decks and trying to out strategize each other. We absolutely love this game! It is so great and it was fun knowing we were perhaps the only people playing the game in all the world. Something special. Great great game.

      Thanks I'm pleased you enjoyed it. We live in a time where cult of the new has never been more prevalent so to know these amazing and "complete" games are out there and still more than hold their own is a real heartwarmer for me. Thats a lovely story teaching your kids the game, I'm glad you're flying the glad for a brilliant game. There's so much depth here with the combined decks as you say allowing for a great deal of strategy.

    Decipher was my favorite game company that ever existed. They had a penchant for ridiculously overcomplicated rules that somehow still worked perfectly well and made total sense (the closest comparison I can think of is DnD). I got super involved in their final game, Fight Klub, which was sadly what put them under. I have more LotR TCG and Star Trek CCG (another of their incredible games) cards than I know what to do with... and I've never found anyone to play with.

    • @DicevsCards
      @DicevsCards  Před 3 měsíci

      Yeah I was a big fan of Decipher, they were foremost in my mind when it came to CCGs in that period and as an extension to your point they didn't just lazily take advantage of the fact that they had three hugely popular IP's to play with. I remember Fight Klub feeling like the last hurrah, alas I never followed it that much but still bad luck can't rid of us these wonderful games as each have a continuing committee keeping them alive.

      @@DicevsCards FK was such an odd duck. I had a strong feeling it was doomed from the start, and it certainly was, but it was still fun to be a part of the ride. I wish there were a way to reprint their old games. Star Trek, Star Wars, LotR, the holy trinity of excellent card games, imho.

  • @barrywade3774
    @barrywade3774 Před rokem

    I skipped this game when it released despite being a fan of Tolkien’s works, the films and some of Decipher’s previous CCGs. (I already had a small Middle Earth collection at the time and had lots to do in University at the time.)
    So naturally 2023 is the best time to start, right after the lock down surge of interest depleted remaining stock and drove prices up! My first cards should arrive this month (March). I ordered a few Two Towers block starter decks, and have a booster box of Fellowship that should arrive in April.

    • @DicevsCards
      @DicevsCards  Před rokem +1

      Yeah so many of these dead CCG's saw a resurgence during lockdown. I hope your cards arrived and you enjoyed your first steps in to the game!

    yo, i just picked up the mines of moria gandalf starter deck and the two towers aragorn starter deck for 15 bucks, but man, all the rules are overwhelming. What is the best way to learn the rules?

    • @DicevsCards
      @DicevsCards  Před rokem +1

      You could definitely try install the tutorial CD that is on the wiki, that might be an easier way to teach yourself. I remember the old small booklets weren't the best that explaining certain phases didn't always took place and the language wasn't great, I'm not sure if the updated comprehensive rules you can find online are any more accessible and easy to understand.
