I'm so glad you recovered so quickly from this knee surgery. You are an inspiration. I wish mine was faster. Its hard not to compare with other people and their recovery time. I'm just plugging along. I'm glad you did a follow up video. I hope the other knee surgery is just as good as this one was for you.

How long did it take for you to heal?

@@Jessica-kg1sr I had my TTO and MPFL surgery in April 2019 I was just released from knee pt March of 2023. I will never be 100%. It took a long time to trust that my patella wasn't going to dislocate. I had to seek counseling to help with that. It still gives me pain. My skin is still numb on the outside of the TTO scare. The MPFL location gets really achy sometimes. I still have really bad grinding behind the patella. I had a cortisone shot that helped a little. I may go back for another one. I can only kneel on soft objects or I instantly have a bruise on the TTO location. It was a hard recovery at first. I wouldn't have been able to do it without my family's help.

How was your second knee surgery?

  • @thebobbleheaddiaries6921

At times I want to put a big sign on my back saying ...back off! LOL
I always go to the side because I'm pushing the wheelchair but I so understand.
Sorry you're having all these troubles.

Your videos have been super helpful! My daughter is about to have this same surgery. 1 knee and then the next knee 3 months later. We have one big question...shoes about to go into 8th grade and we are using this year to get both knees done. She’s a dancer and wants to dance on the high school drill team. Do you feel like she will be able to do that about a year after the surgery?

Hi! I’m so glad you have found my videos helpful! I think your daughter will be able to dance a year after her second surgery. It surprised me how completely different my recoveries were and I imagine it will be different for everyone but your daughters age definitely benefits her. If she is already a dancer and active, I bet she will bounce right back super fast. She should have full range of motion, no pain, and no restrictions from the surgeon after a year post the second surgery. Physical activity will definitely trigger some swelling and discomfort during the first full year of recovery, but the pain probably won’t be any worse than she is feeling now. I’m about a year and a half post my first surgery and I have zero pain in that knee and I’m about six months post my second surgery and that one very rarely irritates me so she should have no problem after a year. I wish your daughter so much luck with her surgeries! I wish I had been able to have my knees fixed when I was her age. It’s seriously so amazing how much life is improved with the confidence of stable knee caps.

Thank you! You have made me feel so much better this morning! Thank you for the encouragement. We have struggled with picking the perfect time to do the surgery but she is anxious to not worry anymore about her kneecaps popping out. She is very active and has been dancing all of her little life. She’s a determined, hard worker so I think she will do greet. Thank you again so much for taking time to reply to this worried mom! We are in Texas by the way! Not sure where you are but I’m sending you much love from the Lone Star State! Best of luck on the rest of your recovery.
