This was a great lecture. Very inspiring.... I particularly enjoyed the end comments. Disability Activists need to help society to recognise the "sickness" in the organisation of society. Rather than accept the labels and the objectification of society we should push back and say "your building is sick because it doesn't function well for the inclusion of all persons" and we can say "you think I am disabled but look at your society which cannot cope with the differences of the people within it.. your society is "disabled". Deal with it rather than labelling a few minorities and excluding them from your work, your building your social gatherings etc"

Fallen Standing: My Life as a Schizophrenist
Reshma was diagnosed with schizophrenia when she was 22. As she says, she didn’t ‘even know what the darn word meant’. In this extraordinary, first-of-its-kind account she writes about her experience of living with therapies and medication, struggling to make sense of her situation, surviving suicide attempts, finding support groups -- and finally coming into her own.
