- I am on the road often -- working mostly, though I mix in a bit of fun -- and augmented reality glasses have become a must-carry item for me. I own two pairs: the nReal Air and the TCL NXTWEAR S, and I've given both a lot of test time. In the end, I prefer one over the other due to more polished software and wider range of screen brightness.

I am legally blind and I gave these a try. They're close to helping people with visual disabilities. The font on the OS was difficult to see, but with a little polish I'm sure could be adjusted. I thought they were super comfortable and was surprised about the adjustability. But the unit I had kept randomly shutting off and rebooting and it was really pissing me off so I sent them back. I thought about trying to TCL brand but I think you saved me the trouble here.

The nreal air at least has micro OLEDs, not LEDs, I think that was a slip up in the video. The picture, colors and black levels are superb in the air.

Quick question, my phone is not compatible with the Nreal Air AR glasses and its slightly concerning because I wanted to use this as a way to consume movie, tv shows and youtube. I do however have a m2 macbook air that i can use. However I want that 180 inch viewing experience that everyone talks about when they are watching a movie. Will that I find that same experience if don't use multiple displays and only use 1 display when using my macbook air?

Do you get eye soreness after using either of them? For example, after using the glassess for a few hours and when taking them off you feel relieved (because of eye strain)
The nreal Air I can wear for two hours and it's fine. Any more yeah it does get tiring.

Have you tried the TCL RayNeo Air 2 XR Glasses?
From what I understand, XReal has the refresh rate of 60 Hz but XREAL announced that a software update will be coming soon, which will boost these AR glasses' refresh rate up to 90 Hz. The update is expected to be released in Q3 2023. Are you sure that your nReal glasses are currently 60 Hz??

Got the Xreal!! Formerly nreal. There's two versions. The $339 has up to 200" display. The $399 has up to 330" and 120hz!
Great video! If you dim the screen on your MacBook Pro to have privacy, does it also dim on the screen displayed on the glasses? Or are those settings are independent? Thinking of getting the Nreal glasses…Thank you!
No it doesn't dim the glasses. Glasses have its own brightness

I’m interested in the 3 virtual screens on mac. Is the overall experience good for productivity? e.g. Work on word, excel, surfing on browser, etc?

@@seansull I've bought a xreal and tried myself. The experience was quite good and total workable for productivity. One important factor is if you need to wear perspective lens or contact lens to correct short sighted. I, myself, need to wear contact lens to use the glasses and feel a bit uncomfortable on the contact lens rather than the xreal.
have a MacBook Pro with an M2 device, and my goal is to use this pair of glasses while coding. However, if the display is blurry or the text quality is low, it would strain my eyes and wouldn't be ideal.Have you ever tried writing text or code yourself?

How good is the screen visibility outside? I bet it's dim outside, a tiny screen can only go so bright. I can't go walking my dog while scrolling through twitter. I'd have to add those coverings on them that'll then make me Blind. Also I wish they had side Leather covering shields to avoid complete light penetration.
If you're using outside directly in the sun yeah the screen won't be bright enough. But even indoors in a brightly lit room is fine. As long as you're not literally under the sun uncovered

Anyone have an updated opinion? Should I go with TCL the Air? Looking to use them to do work, but they can’t be too chunky over the ears because I need headphones to listen to music for work (also watching ASMR on CZcams). I also have a pretty big head, is there a way to fit them or do they have sizes? I would appreciate if someone could give me a small recommendation based on this context.

Note that the Nreal macOS support is only for M1 and M2 macs (so not Intel chip models)
Not anymore. Some dude made Kassandra and it runs on Intel macs. It's in beta I think.
The stevie wonder glasses, now with usb
The AR Space mode no longer works with My S22 Ultra and Z Fold 4. It used to work with both. Now, only DeX and casting modes work. The message says that it's no longer compatible with my latest software version. Very disappointing.
May I ask what's the Nebula version do you use? Also, what's the model number of your S22? There are lots of details need to be confirmed. You could get more help in the Nreal's community on Reddit.
Now in March 2024, waiting on the shipment of my Xreal Air 2 Ultra. ❤ Xreal staying consistent and relevant. Hope you are still supporting them. No they are not just for developers.

The glassess can display 3D picture but it depends how the software was built. Yes, you can watch movies in 3D but there are no 3D movies right now for such glasses

How do they compare to rokid max?
Was wondering why Rokid Max weren't mentioned here also (maybe they just weren't available at the time). From my research the max's are much closer to Nreal Air, with the hardware being slightly better and the software (currently) being slightly worse.
Oh but the Rokid's are a little bit goofy looking comparatively imo.

The nreal ones are very useless without the app that is only available for phones over $500 and it's not even available in all countries, and it doesn't have an app for Windows
Let's not call it "AR glasses" , I'd say these are more like SP glasses. "Screen Projection"
Nreal's app does have some AR capabilities they're just not all the way there
I will point out that your existing USB-C cables are not guaranteed to support video. There’s a good chance that the cable that came with your phone was only designed for charging and maybe data transfer. The USB-C standard is frankly a total mess, with different cables and devices having different capabilities, and there’s generally no way to tell them apart unless you have the original packaging. But yes, it is technically something you can get without having to go to the manufacturer.
TCL glasses look better BUT the NReal is way better. I just cant buy NReal cuz the glasses are UGLEEEEE..wont buy the TCL because its too expensive to just be video movie glasses...

*My honest review: is the worst product I ever purchased, after connecting the glasses to my mobile device, I was disappointed to discover that the visual experience was plagued by a series of malfunctions. The image displayed on the glasses exhibited constant stripes and annoying flickering, rendering it almost impossible to enjoy any content. Moreover, I encountered an additional issue where the left screen of the glasses had a limited viewing angle of only approximately 75%. These combined problems have left me extremely dissatisfied with TCL*
