He managed to cut the meet short, was blunt as hell, and called out his team accurately all while being respectful and honest. Nicely handled.

Normally I dislike when reporters press coaches who are clearly in a bad mood. But I feel like Bowness needed to vent some steam here, and I admire the way he spoke honestly and bluntly. The Jets were terrible all series long.
Dubois was a loafer when he played for Columbus. That is why they traded him.

A lot of people were disgusted by Bowness’s reaction. But just for a moment, think of the coaches that went through Winnipeg, without saying a word publicly of what was actually going on there. Paul Maurice, for example. I honestly wish Toronto coaches had the balls.

Yeah, the Jets totally haven’t had locker room leadership issues, the last 4-5 years running. This ain’t on the coach, had the same problem before him. It’s on the guys who aren’t setting an example, for the rest of the locker room. Frankly, they didn’t deserve to be here, after how they played to close out the year.

They’ve had the same issues with their last THREE head coaches, including Bowness. At some point, it’s on the core, NOT the coach.
Their only actually meaningful playoff results, since relocating, have been a single conference finals appearance they got by: beating the participation medal Wild and escaping Nashville in 7, via old man Pekka Rinne being too good for saves right now and PK Suban’s glorious defence. And then they didn’t even show up in Vegas. They haven’t won a 2nd round playoff game since.
