Let’s talk about his last long note. Insane and difficult for many pro female opera singer. He does that note on C6 with softness , which is harder to do than the louder C6 note. The control to have to hold it soft yet in tune and spinning like a spider web, yes hold it and do crescendo then decrescendo and fade it in the air.
That last long note alone is the money note for many pro opera female singers right there, not even mention his breath control and technique throughout the song!

I agree completely. I would also add that the most mind blowing and difficult thing he did was the vocal onset at C6 right on pitch at the beginning of the last part.

That moment when he starts the onset, the control to get it on right pitch and tone yet soft and spinning… holding note control volume and add vibrato to it is the complex long note that challenges many pro female opera singers. Then he slays rock, pop, folk songs as well and can rap! Jack of all trades, master them all!

Great reaction. I'm 52 and also have a musical background (trumpet). Dimash is certainly a generational talent. Even hearing his songs over and over I'm still blown away. At the end when he comes in super high and ever so softly with vibrato and holds it, then changes it to a straight tone and then adds a little vibrato to finish it off. That straight tone is one of the purest notes I've ever heard and so angelic. Imagine being in that audience hearing that in person. We are so blessed to be able to have the chance to hear Dimash in person in our lifetime. This is the voice (other than family) that I want to hear on my deathbed when I take my last breath. Can't wait for your next Dimash reaction!!!

That's what I always feel about Dimash's high notes, that they are so pure and beautiful!
You've already noticed that everything about Dimash and the musicians around him is perfect---and yet you haven't even gotten to "Olimpico," "Love of Tired Swans," "Love Is Like a Dream," "Your Love," "Across Endless Dimensions," "Stranger," (!!!), and all the amazing Kazakh folk songs he has performed. I suspect I've been on this Earth nearly twice as long as you have, Bob, and I can promise you that you aren't going astray when you say you are inclined to call Dimash the best singer in the world. I've been deep into music for my entire life and I've never heard anyone better.

I've been sampling all that music obsessively for most of my nearly 80 years and finally came to the conclusion that all of my favorites mean a whole lot less to me than they used to once I got deep into Dimash's catalog. If nothing else, I hope you will make time to witness "Olimpico," and "Stranger."

Dimash premiered "Stranger"+"Fly Away"+"Ave Maria" in 2021, at New Wave - a competition, where he participated as a judge and guest performer. These 3 very different style songs were the way he stepped back on stage, after ~ 2 years of pandemic restrictions. "Ave Maria" was performed "thinking of an angel" - bringing celestial gentleness and a driving beat (drums) of encouragement to a world that had suffered immensely. Dimash himself lost 2 mentors in the summer of 2020, during the pandemic. (one of them - Kenes Duisekeev - prominent composer, Dimash studied Composition with him). This version of "Ave Maria" was composed-reimagined specifically for Dimash by Igor Krutoy, at Dimash`s request. Igor described the moment like this : "Italians like to say that any composer is worth exactly as much as his latest work is worth, meaning that all previous achievements do not count... I listened very carefully to the fairly controversial and peremptory statement made by representatives of this very musical country (both in the past and in the present), and began to look at my new compositions from the Italian perspective... One evening, about three months before 'New Wave', Dimash called and asked if I could write 'Ave Maria' for him, explaining his desire to sing something in such a stylistic way... It just so happens that I had some time off, and I was happy to sit down on the piano and, remembering the Italian liability formula, worked inspiredly until I achieved the desired result... After taking a few days to have the song 'lingering' in my ears, soul and heart, I sent it to Dimash, who literally said within half an hour that that's exactly what he wanted to hear. And, of course, the receptions and ovations given to Dimash by the audience on New Wave talked about how happy it was to do what you love, to write for a singer with a genius for music, arousing deep emotions in the audience and being sought after... Just an essay on the theme 'What is happiness?'.."

Quite a lot of Dimash's songs were wrote by Igor- or recomposed by him for Dimash. If you see him on the piano it will definately be a song he composed- like this one and Olimpico.

Igor Krutoi is not billionaire (maybe in Russian ruble currency, yes). He is rich but not to that extend. He has property in Miami, Florida and time to time lives there with his family.

That man is Igor Krutoy, one of the greatest composer and producer in Russia. He is a billioner living in New York, who retired from show business, until he heard Dimash in one of the shows that he puts on in Russia and came back from retirement to write music for him. This Ave Maria was composed by Igor Krutoy for Dimash back in 2020.

There is a great clip of Dimash practicing the technique for that final crescendo and rapid decresendo with his vocal coach in China.
Igor is also a producer and a Titan in the music industry having composed works for Andrea Bocelli and Lara Fabian amongst others. The Russian music industry is just as cut throat as the Western one and it just goes to show the respect Igor has for Dimash in that there are no contracts between them and everything is done from mutual respect. Dimash has described their relationship as being one of father and son. They can often be seen messing about together backstage and Dimash was a big part of all Igor's 65th birthday celebration concerts.
Every time you see Igor at the piano you know it's one of his compositions that Dimash will be singing. Igor even made a guest appearance at one of Dimash's concerts.
Igor's songs are technically incredible but Dimash's voice hits differently when he sings in Kazakh, especially the folk songs like Samaltau and Daididau.

The effect Dimash does with the last note, where it builds in volume (crescendo) then drops in volume (diminuendo) - is the advanced technique of messa di voce. Then he adds a slight touch of vibrato at the end which sounds almost like a soft harmonic rather than a vibrato. Sigh. It is mind-blowingly magical and it pierces my heart every time 💔

Hi Bob, I think I'd be correct in stating that most Dears really enjoy your reactions--you're informative without being overly didactic, intelligent, genuine, easy-going, and appreciative of Dimash's talent. These things make you very likeable, so it's natural for Dears to get impatient waiting for your next reaction. But we understand, so much music, so little time, LOL. Please just keep on with your Dimash discovery whenever you can, and we'll be here to enjoy it.
(P.S. Yes, it does take a number of songs to get the idea of everything Dimash can do. After seeing his mastery of a vast array of vocal techniques, ranges and genres over about 8-10 songs, one generally does come to the conclusion that he is the best singer in the world today because no one else we know of can do all the things he can.)

He's a Ukrainian-Russian composer who has won I believe seven national-scale honors from four different nations: USSR, Russian Federation, Ukraine, and Khazakstan. He also owns Russia's equivalent to MTV and is a billionaire. If you've done "Sinful Passion" yet, he's the first to his feet with a standing ovation, in the white shirt. I believe that was the night he discovered Dimash, so that was a very significant moment.

The gentleman on the piano is Igor krutoy, a billionaire composer arranger very famous in Russia and the Ukraine. Has been writing music and had a number of hit songs for decades came out of retirement after hearing Dimash sing specifically to collaborate with him.
I used to think the best singer in the world was nothing but just a gimmick title for people with big ego. Not since I heard Dimash a few years ago. I finally accept that there exists the best singer in the world today and his name is Dimash though he is still largely unknown and under appreciated but slowly people start noticing.
Igor is a composer, very famous in Russia. He has written many songs and Dimash has sung many of them. He has also written several for Dimash, Olympico, this one, Stranger, I can't even think of them all. Igor didn't come out of retirement to write for Dimash, he has never been retired. Not sure where that came from. He is a multi-millionaire and had an incredible career way before he met Dimash. Many of the songs he has written were sung by Lara Fabian who has been an idol for Dimash since he was young and he actually gets to sing with her in a birthday concert for Igor. Ti Amo Cosi is the song. Another opera singer sings with them as well.
The one in the piano is Igor Krutoy . He is a Russian composer who had retired and returned to compose when he met Dimash. He composed this song at Dimash's request... and he has composed others for Dimash's vocal range, like Ogni Pietra and Stranger, both are epic... I suggest you listen to Ogni Pietra also known as Olimpico first, and then Stranger. I have to warn you, however, that with these two songs it is possible that your brain is blocked... He also composed some other songs just for him. Olimpico, Stranger, Your love, I miss you, Passione. I believe "Know" was also composed by him. They are all extraordinary songs and performances. Dimash is out of this world, really exceptional. After hearing one son by him I feel like I watched a very good movie. I mean he makes me feel so many emotions with just one song. In the video of Sinful Passion, at the end you see a guy in white shirt stand up in the audience - it´s the same guy who accompanies Dimash in this video: Igor Krutoy, famous composer, who, after seeing Dimash sing Sinful Passion, came out of retirement to compose for him also this version of Ave Maria among other songs.

Saying a person is the best singer in the world is a very big claim. But listening to Dimash, he's got the talent to really earn that spot at the top. Insane amount of talent, well beyond any talent show I've ever watched. They can be really good, but this guy is otherworldly.

Yes Igor, a billionaire I think, came out of retirement specifically to work with Dimash. They are great friends now. Dimash phoned him up one evening asking I'd Igor was interested in creating a version of Ave Maria, I believe, based on its original compositional purpose back in 17th 18th century. Which according to a Russian you tuber,( who seems to be very knowledgeable person. ) was suggesting that the original versions were very meditative. So Igor n Dimash would hve discussed together the potential approaches desired. By morning Igor had it all created and presented it to Dimash, and would probably had futlrther discussions in regard of it. Amazing, I love this and find it totally relaxing n meditative.
