I don't like too much mess, so I made a rule that only one room is allowed for messy activities, and even then the kids have to take responsibility and clean up afterwards. They usually do activities and projects outside the house anyway, so I can clean the house every day. Thank you for this video about building an unschooling nest ❤️.
You're welcome! It's all trial and error, right? My best tip is more trash cans. This allows kids to EASILY clean up. You probably already have that covered! Thanks for leaving a comment! 💛
Love ur videos ! Ok im ok with mild messses but my husband hates messes so i try to dedicate 25 minutes to cleaning up before he gets home and i like to play music while i do this
Susan Evans Yes! For me, it’s a practical way to break it down into bite size pieces that really can have significance. Thanks for leaving a comment - I’m glad it was helpful!!
I really love your perspective. The way you speak makes me feel like I'm reading a book. Your language is so colorful and deep. Hearing you speak gets me excited. I may be homeschooling sooner than I think, and I prefer the unschooling route. Thank you.
Thank you so much for this video and your insight! I love it! Would you be willing to share more about the “messiness” you mentioned please. Our biggest struggle in our home between my husband and I is that he wants the house tidy and while I would like that, I just feel like relationships are more important. But I also understand that he feels anxious because our children are 2,4,6,&8 so it’s messy. Thank you so much for what you’re doing!
I can’t say I’m a unschooler but what I hear about unschooling it sounds a lot like us. However. My husband can’t stand mess or dirty house. He needs to get to a cleaner home. That is stressful. Also the schedule. He needs to be up at 5 and is a light sleeper. We have a small house. So we have always try to get small kids to get early
We all have to modify to the best we can. That's why it's best to think of unschooling as principles to work with as opposed to a set of rules that have to be followed. And then, of course, always staying open to the idea that we may need to remain flexible and pivot a little as everyone grows up and changes here and there.
I'm only peripherally aware of the Montessori method. But I'd say if your child enjoys it and can continue to play and still participate in the clean up, that's great!
I organized it in a way that no matter how messy I can pick it up and clean a large room in 20 minutes or less. Gives me sanity.
That sounds great - lots of times it just takes some planning ahead. ANTICIPATING that it WILL be messy! lol

That's a great plan! Thanks for the kind words! xo
Thinking about the 5 senses with regards to the home is really intriguing. That would make for a much more enjoyable home experience.

Whate are your thoughts on the prepared environment as Montessori teaches
