I am writing with conviction to express my disappointment and sadness over the opening ceremony approved by the International Olympic Committee.
In this day and age, where we are being told that the World should move towards inclusion, the sheer mockery and denigration of the faith of Christianity was shocking, wrong and exclusionary. The Olympics is a tradition for people of all ages to watch and enjoy the pageantry, however; this had many things including exposed genitalia that were not fit to be seen by children nor have children on the stage same time.
The Olympics is a celebration of human endurance and skill while uniting the global civilization. It is not to celebrate one culture or subculture, but all things that unite us. The Olympics certainly should not be in the business of mocking a specific religion or imprinting its values on others through symbolic depictions that are at best coercion and at worst evil.
